Ain’t Nothing But a Hound Dog!MEET CARTER! This loving and playful Hound Dog is estimated to be 2 years old and weighs approximately 75 pounds. Having come from a rural area where he was used to living outside, he has adjusted quickly and loves being in his warm and comfy hound-loving foster home!   This big baby is just that; a puppy in a big dog's body. He doesn’t always realize his size or strength, and for that reason alone he should go to home without small humans in it. (For context, his foster family had 20 people over for Thanksgiving and after just a couple minutes he was loving on everyone. He was good with the kids, but he doesn't know not to run over them when they are in his way. He just doesn't think like that.) He has done so well with his foster canine brother and sisters, and they love to play and cuddle up after. Carter does want to play roughly, but he listens to his foster sibling when she corrects him like a mother dog would do. Carter is a typical hound and loves being part of a pack, whether it's canine or human. He is submissive and just wants to play and be loved. He would do well in a house with other dogs as long as they want to play. He would also do just fine as an only dog. (We also believe that he would do well with a cat, having been around them in the past.) He truly just wants to be with his person. He is a healthy and strong young dog that’s still working on his manners. He likes to use his paw to get your attention, for anything. And with him being so strong, that paw can hurt. His foster mom thinks he'll get there, but he definitely has the hound stubborn streak. This dapper-chap is both potty and crate trained. He needs bones or harder toys to chew and he does not like loud noises outside, such as gun shots, thunder, etc. He wants to go inside the house right away. Being a hound, his nose is king and he can tell when another animal - or snack - is near.  To sum him up, he is a lovable, sweet, strong, stubborn hound puppy who would be perfectly content to let you love on him all day. Carter’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. Story
We first took Geneva in as a foster in July 2023 when she was 7-years-old and loved her sweet demeanor so much that we adopted her the following month. At the time we adopted her, Geneva was hugely overweight and suffering from an unmedicated thyroid problem. We succeeded in getting Geneva back on her medication and down to a healthy weight (~55lbs), true to her breed standard. Her thyroid condition is easily managed with an inexpensive, twice-daily pill. Geneva is adaptable, trusting, sharp as anything, and loves adventures - especially car rides, park romps, trips to PetSmart to ogle the guinea pigs, and endless hikes. Despite her seemingly sedentary nature inside, she would always prefer to be outside (with company). Geneva would be best placed in a home without small children (older children and teens OK) and without other pets, although we have observed her bonding with some smaller dogs.

She has been in a loving home for almost 8 years, and is now in need of a home in which the owner is home more often. Bella has been through extensive training, and knows many commands including sit, stay, down, wait, touch, come, place, and crate.  She is house-trained, crate trained, and great on a leash. She is up to date on vetting and presently has a clean bill of health. She is great with people and children. She has only been around a baby once, and seemed reserved and a bit scared of her. The reason Bella was returned to our rescue is because of her anxiety when left alone for long periods of time. Several medications have been tried, but she may still bark when left alone in her crate. Her foster has one medication which does help her for 2 to 3 hours before she gets anxious. Given her owner moved into a townhouse, and works full time, this will not work with neighbors potentially hearing her barking.  Presently, Bella stays with one foster, and another one helps if the present foster is gone for a long day and evening. If you are interested in either being her long term foster or adopter, the foster that has her is willing to provide you with support or free boarding for anytime it is needed. This foster lives in Eastern Baltimore County area and says she is just the perfect loving companion for someone who is home most of the time. My name is Anne, but sometimes people call me Annie (or Anne-cakes.) I am very sweet and happy-go-lucky; I’m the ideal Black and Tan Coonhound mix. For anyone who loves the spirit and the ways of hound dogs, but hates all the slobber, and would love a medium-sized dog…I’d be perfect since I only weigh 40 pounds! I am like most hounds, a very good watch dog with a sweet bellow to let you know your friends are at the door. But if you don’t like my lyric, country-hound voice, all you need to do is block my view, and I’ll stop. I am very easy-going, calm, and gentle-natured, and I love meeting new people and dogs whenever I can. People always tell me how beautiful I am. They especially point out my gorgeous black and brown coloring and markings, my gentle eyes, my sweet smile, and they love my goofy floppy ears, and how soft my fur is. I don’t shed very much, and I am very good when I get my baths. I love being petted, and I am very affectionate with all the humans whom I love and spend time with. My humans, especially like the fact that I am not needy, and I’m very happy to amuse myself or take a long nap in the sun, or curled up in my dog bed. I also do well when I’m in my crate, as long as I don’t have any bedding. I’m a young dog at heart and I love playing with other dogs at my current home; though I don’t really like young puppies (I think they’re rude sometimes.) I could be happy living as the only dog or with a family of doggies I could join. I really like to go for car rides, and I love going on long walks and trips to fun places. I would love to go hiking with you, camping, or even on just a quick walk around the neighborhood. I am very motivated by food, praise, and affection, so I really like to learn new skills and behaviors, just in case you want to train me! I know I could use some help learning how to not pull on the leash. I would make a great dog for a family with older children, or a couple, or a single person looking for a new best friend. I hope I can find my forever home someday soon, because I have a lot of love to give. I am very adaptable, and I love going to new places. I don’t mind being in crowds, and I love going on adventures where I can sniff to my heart’s content. I am a hound dog after all. And this nose was made for sniffing. Though I don’t do any digging or escaping where I live right now, my previous foster mom, said I liked to dig when I was left alone outside. So please come and hang out with me when I go out for potty or for fun. Or if you have a fenced in yard with reinforcement at the ground level, I can go out alone, sniff around, explore, and do some sunbathing, I’d like that too. Either way, I really want to meet you if you think I’m the right pup for you. I’ve been fixed and am up-to-date on all my shots and vet care, so I’m ready to go!
