Story
Meet Harvey! This sweet boy is an 8 month old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, weighing ~50lbs. As a true hound, he is food motivated (which helps with training), has a great nose that can sniff out any yummy bones lost under the couch, and the big floppy ears to hear the treat bag open from the other room. Also like most hounds, he has a loud bark, and likes to hear his own voice. Training wise he is working on basic commands, house, and crate training. He is great with other small or large dogs, and appears to be good with kids. Also, he is showing signs of separation anxiety, and will bark when people leave. Harvey has a prey drive and would do best in a household without cats or other small animals, like bunnies. He is most often a cuddly boy, but he also has bursts where he is very playful. He is already up to date with shots, already neutered and microchipped. Harvey is presently being fostered in Mountville, Pa. If you think Harvey is a fit for your home, please schedule a meet and greet. He may look like he's always about to doze off, but he is very excited to meet his forever family! New Oxford PA 17350; LIC # 9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Most of our dogs are rescued from high kill shelters in the South. If the dog is posted, they are still available! Once arriving, these dogs enter foster homes, as we do not have a shelter. We cannot adopt out dogs to a home with dogs that are not fixed or up to date on shots. If interested in adopting, please submit an application online at www.pack9rescue.org. Our adoption fee for altered dogs is $350 and goes directly to saving the lives of more dogs.  Our adoption fee for unaltered puppies will be $400 which includes a refundable $50 deposit upon receipt of spay/neuter certificate. We are an all-volunteer organization, and we are always looking for more help. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- HARRY IS LISTED AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER RESCUE ORGANIZATION.  PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.ASK NOT WHAT THIS HOUND CAN DO FOR YOU,BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR THIS HOUND.Harry Neil is a 10 year old walker hound who recently came to us when he no longer wanted to hunt. Having lived life on a chain, Harry Neil is now enjoying romping in a fenced yard, interacting with other dogs in his foster home and soaking up all the attention. Harry is kind and quiet and surpisingly petite! The mass on his face is a damaged salivary gland. Nothing can be done for it but it does not hurt or bother him. Henry is looking for a compassionate family who understands that he missed out on a lot of things while pursing a career in hunting. He will need extra support with house training and basic manners. Henry Neil deserves a comfy home with a wonderful family to enjoy the rest of his life! He'll pay you in kindness and gratitude.(We do not recommend hunting hounds for homes with cats.)A reduced adoption fee of $100 does apply for Harry Neil, our seniors, special medical and behavioral needs dogs and other 'slow to adopt' dogs!Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and schedule adoptions in Waynesboro, VA. A $175.00 adoption fee ($300 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. I'm a 3 1/2 year old hound! I love being with my humans and my other dog brother who is a chihuahua, but I don't like all dogs, so slow introductions are necessary. I don't really do well with kids. I'd need to be with a family with no kids. I am a little leery of strangers, so it takes me a little bit to trust adults. But after that I'm all yours! I love being outside, taking walks, and curling up on my dog bed. If you are looking for a new companion, look no further! Please consider adopting me!  My owner is also willing to provide several bags of food with my adoption. If you are interested in adopting Scout, please contact: Tim Rodrigo rodrigo40@verizon.net Phone: 717-756-4687Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 12:37 am

Her foster is very impressed with her and says; 'She is sooooo sweet! Only had 2 accidents in the house and nothing in the crate. She is like a magnet. Likes to be right by your side and is learning to play with toys. Doesn’t really pay mind to my dogs at all she wags her tail but doesn’t try to engage' She represents all that is wonderful about beagles. Because she is a hound, we will require a physical fencing for her to keep her and her nose from following any irrestible scents and to keep her safe. She is interested in everything and is going to make your walks more fun than you can imagine, as she points out all the great stuff along the way that you have been missing without her. A lovely temperament and a desire to keep herself clean are such good qualities. Bringing Honey into your life is a good choice if you like smiling, kisses, and a best friend who wants to be with you. She promises to listen to everything you say and not tell another soul! Story
Hello, my name is Benji! I have unfortunately been in and out of shelters over the years, and I really want to find my furever home. I am in my golden years and kennel life is certainly not for me. I am a big pup with an even bigger personality. As is typical of hounds, I am quite talkative and opinionated about everything! I can come on a bit strong with other dogs but may do well with a calmer, older one with proper introduction. I have not lived with cats before but I am willing to try. I don't mind children as long as they understand I am large and loud. I just want companionship and a comfortable place to lay my head. I hope you will consider adopting an old gentlemen like me!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
NAME: Chickie BREED: Beagle Mix BIRTHDAY: 2012 WEIGHT: 35lbs ADOPTION FEE: $200   Chickie came to us when her owners (thankfully) surrendered her to a VA shelter. They had been keeping her in a pen outside 24 hours a day, despite their claims that she has grass allergies. What really seemed to be happening to poor Chickie was a bad flea infestation, untreated, that left her with half of her hair missing. After months of treatment and medications, her skin is healthy but it appears her hair will never grow back. We give her Apoquel for itching but she is otherwise in good overall health.  &#226&#128&#139 Chickie has put her years of neglect behind her: she is happy in foster care and is a pretty easy girl. Although she is friendly and has never snapped or even growled at anyone, she is still a little head shy and would do best in a home without small children. She does very well with dogs of all sizes, but should be placed in a home without cats. What she really wants is a place where she can get a nice mix of her own space (with her favorite toy football to play with), and attention in the form of walks and snacks. Chickie is crate trained but will need a reminder course on house training. She would love a fenced yard to stretch her legs, sunbathe, and spend time with her forever family.April 9, 2024, 6:07 pm
