Story
Ziggy is a young coonhound from southwest Virgnia who was found stray. Ziggy is 1 - 2 years old and his ideal weight would be around 60-65 lbs. He is underweight from his life on the run and we are helping him gain a few pounds. He loves his food! Ziggy is friendly and eager to meet new people, good with other dogs, and showed no interest in the cats when brought through the cat room at the shelter. Ziggy is a typical 'diamond in the rough' hound, who hasn't had the best life so far. He'll need some obedience and leash training but is sure to appreciate having a soft bed and new toys. Ziggy has arrived and is ready for visits. If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below. Story
Ginger has arrived in Massachusetts and what a great dog she is! She's very engaging with new people, got settled quickly in her foster home and showed that she is a champion snuggler. She was adopted once from the shelter but her owner ended up in hospice and she was returned - so she's had experience living as a pet. She appears to be housebroken, understands that certain things are not allowed, although she could use some obedience training. Ginger is tentative in new urban situations around traffic and noise - she's clearly been a country girl, although she's gaining confidence. Ginger is about 4 yrs old and is a little underweight from the stress of shelter life at 48 lbs. Her ideal weight is probably around 55 lbs. Ginger is fostering in Rhode Island and is ready for visits. If you’d like to apply to adopt, please submit an application using the link below. MEET ZOEY! -I am in a foster home!*My adoption fee is waived*This 2 year old active beauty can often be found romping around in our play yard, getting all of her laps in, and showing off her good moves. She can walk, run, and play all day long - but of course she is more than ready for some snuggles and naps afterwards. Zoey is quite a superstar. She is a friendly lady who enjoys hanging out with her human pals but is just as content with her independance. She already knows many of her basic commands (including housetraining), and is not only fast to learn, but eager too! Zoey can be quite the class clown and never fails to make everyone laugh with her deer hops and little tippy taps when she gets excited. This pretty girl is hoping for an active family to keep up with - it`s a perfect opportunity to get a head start on those new year resolutions! She is a bigger pup who doesn`t exactly know her size - but that just means you`ll have a nice weighted blanket to keep you warm this winter. Zoey will do best in a home with older dog savvy kids since she is a bit of a stronger dog, but really all she wants is her own people to call her BFF (second to her toys of course). If your home is missing the loving energy of an incredible pup, come meet Zoey in Dedham!Zoey is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Zoey or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
We saw sweet Ginny on Facebook. She was a stray that ended up in a high kill shelter in Virginia. Shortly after she arrived she gave birth to 4 puppies. The shelter had no idea that she was pregnant because she was nothing but skin and bones. We knew we somehow had to get her here to Tennessee so we put our thinking caps on and a lot of wonderful volunteers drove her to our pick up spot in southern VA where our regular transporter picked her and the babies up on his way back to Nashville. We met them in Nashville at 1 AM and drove the family 100 miles back to the rescue. We knew Ginny was young, possibly still a pup herself and our vet confirmed that she was only 11 months at the time of the puppy's birth. Her pups have all been adopted and now it's Ginny's turn! Walker Hounds are very high energy dogs and can be a little stubborn so make sure you research the breed before you make the choice to adopt. We insist on a fenced yard for her so she can have room to free run and enjoy the rest of her life. These dogs are the number one dumped off breed as their owners will desert them if they don't hunt the way they want them too! We have several of them here at the rescue for that very reason. They are fun loving couch potatoes and will bring you many years of joy and happiness! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $650

Story
My name is Winnie and I am a loving 7 year old, 50 pound girl that is a beautiful Hound breed called a Tree Walker.   I was found as a stray in the middle of a rural highway and I am such a soft and gentle girl that loves to lay around and sleep and just be an easy couch potato friend. I am housebroken, love a good tummy rub, pretty nice to all other dogs that I meet and I would be a great companion to a senior, retired person or couple who are looking for an easy dog to love.  I am healthy and spayed and microchipped and I am told that I am pretty, too.  Would you like to have a sweet companion for the next 7-8 years.  I will be happy to make your life so much more special if you invite me home.  Critter Cavalry Rescue is ready to help you adopt me if you write to them at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.March 26, 2024, 11:20 pm
