Story
Hound lovers rejoice! Meet Whisper, an active gal who loves sniffy walks and romping around with her dog friends. Whisper came to us by way of the South, so we don’t know a lot about her history. She can be very worried in new environments, and is still getting the hang of living in a house, so she’s likely to need support as she transitions to living in a new home. Whisper is looking for an adopter with some patience and a good sense of humor, and who’s ready to help her channel all of her energy into good manners and home skills using positive reinforcement training methods. As a curious kiddo who likes to try and sniff out snacks and other fun things, Whisper will definitely need some environmental management while she’s adjusting to living in a house to ensure she’s making all the right choices! She might like to go home with a well-matched dog friend, and may potentially be able to go home with a dog-savvy cat with complete separation to start. Any children in the home should be old enough to participate in her training and management plan, and to give her space as needed while she adjusts. If you`re ready to help Whisper shine, stop by our Cape Cod Adoption Center during open hours and our team would be happy to tell you more about her!

Story
Rosie is our sweet, anxious rescue TWC, from a shelter in Maine, 1.5 years old when we adopted in 2017. She's 10 years old but her breed's life expectancy is 16. In good health, very active still. She was picked up by animal control in the woods but had lived in a home of some sort. May have been trauma before adoption. She's been trained on recall (best using an e-collar with occasional refreshers) as she's had multiple stays with an experienced trainer. Food aggression- we have to keep all food out of reach, she will try to steal anything left out and may guard it and bite. She is also territorial with new people so we have to introduce them carefully, with a short list of people who can come in unannounced/unmanaged. We have a 2-year old, we have to manage them carefully, she has snapped at him and we are worried she will bite him, the main reason for rehoming. Her food aggression has gotten worse, now she often guards her own food after feeding. Needs experienced owner.

Story
Sweet 7 month old Cosmo is 45lbs of love, fun and companionship who is looking for his forever home and sure to make you laugh. He is a hound through and through, he can sniff and explore with the best of them! If you are in the market for a hiking buddy, this is your boy! Cosmo would love an active family who will take him exploring, and it would be a bonus for him if there was another family dog, Cosmo really loves having his foster brothers and sisters around! While he loves everyone he meets, his foster mom describes him as a "dog's dog", he is currently living with 5 dogs of all sizes and a cat. When he is not playing with his doggy buddies or on the trail of some great scent in the back yard, he is cuddled up with his people or in his favorite lounge chair with a bone. Cosmo does really like children but given his age and hound energy, we feel he is better suited to families with older children. Cosmo is crate and housetrained, neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vetting. If you would like to make Cosmo a member of your family, please email bigyellowgoose018@gmail.com

Story
Hound lovers, meet Emma — a beautiful Treeing Walker Coonhound with soulful eyes, a gentle heart, and a second chance at the life she has always deserved.Emma was found wandering the countryside in Tennessee in August 2025, heartbreakingly thin and suffering from heartworms. It’s believed she had been used for breeding and then discarded when she was no longer “needed.” Despite everything she had endured, this sweet girl’s spirit was never broken. With dedicated care, proper nutrition, and lots of love, Emma has blossomed. She has gained healthy weight, completed her heartworm treatment, and is now heartworm negative and thriving. When first rescued, Emma was shy and understandably skittish. Today, she is a different dog — confident, affectionate, and eager to be part of a family. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her.Emma plays beautifully with her canine foster siblings and is completely non-reactive. She would truly enjoy having another dog in the home as a playmate and companion. She also lives peacefully with cats and simply ignores them. Her nature makes her a wonderful fit for a variety of households, including those with respectful older children. She is currently working on her leash skills and improving every day. She rides nicely in the car and is always happy to tag along for an adventure. Emma is fully housetrained and has free roam of the house when her foster is away — she does beautifully without a crate, likely a kindness she appreciates after her past life.True to her hound heritage, Emma has the most special and adorable howl. It’s endearing, expressive, and part of the charm that makes hound lovers smile. She is active and absolutely LOVES to play, but at the end of the day, her favorite place is curled up in bed with her foster family and furry friends, soaking in the comfort and security she waited so long to have.Emma has survived hardship, raised countless litters, and asked for nothing in return. Now it’s her turn — her turn to be cherished, protected, and loved simply for who she is.If you’ve been waiting for a loyal, gentle, playful hound with a heart of gold, Emma is ready to come home.Name: Emma HoundBreed: Treeing Walker Coonhound (Confirmed by DNA test)Sex: FemaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 60.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 7Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)                       $100-150 additional mandatory quarantine fee for Massachusetts residents.Location of dog currently:    Tennessee IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption veterinary costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England, if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse, whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher.
