If you are looking for a loyal outdoor companion with a heart of gold, say hello to Kahlua—an 8-year-old Treewalker Coonhound mix who defines “good ole’ boy” in the best possible way. Around 60 pounds of love and sweetness, Kahlua lives for sunshine, breezes, rustling leaves, and long, thoughtful walks. He’s the kind of dog who doesn’t rush through life—he notices everything, appreciates the little things, and reminds you to slow down and enjoy the moment. Kahlua has impeccable manners. Need to tie your shoe? He’ll stop and wait. Collar slips off? He’ll walk right over so you can fix it. He listens beautifully and truly wants to please his person. He also has a fun side—he loves squeaky toys, playing fetch (sharing the ball is a work in progress!), giving kisses, and being tucked in under cozy blankets like the pampered hound he is.  This boy is also a lake and boat enthusiast—a true water bug who will happily join you for every lakeside adventure. He grew up with other dogs and prefers being the “big guy,” doing well with respectful smaller dogs or calmer companions. Solo walks? He’s relaxed and steady. With bigger, energetic dogs? He may pull a bit in excitement. Kahlua loves kids who treat him kindly and is friendly toward cats, even though he didn’t share a home with them before. Above all else, Kahlua is drawn to people who make him feel loved—give him attention and he’ll give you his whole heart. He does get springtime seasonal allergies, so starting Apoquel in February or early March keeps him feeling his best. It’s a simple bit of care for a dog who gives so much sweetness in return. Kahlua’s former mama adored him deeply but faced life changes that made caring for him impossible. Now he’s ready for a forever home where he can spend his years surrounded by stability, love, comfort, and a family who appreciates everything he has to offer. Kahlua is ready to be someone’s best friend. If you want a loyal companion with an old soul and endless love to share, come meet this wonderful boy.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in giving this boy the years of his life as your best sidekick ever   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 22, 2025, 9:52 pm

Story
Meet Sarge — a happy, affectionate boy with the softest ears and the most soulful, expressive eyes. Sarge walks well on a leash. He knows how to sit and give paw. He is very playful and he responds well to treats for training and rides great in the car (just needs a boost to get in). We do not know what he thinks of cats. Despite facing some tough breaks, Sarge still has a loving heart and a joyful spirit, and he’s ready for the chance to be someone’s forever companion. Poor Sarge has been adopted and returned twice, through no fault of his own. 🏠 First Return: Sarge lived peacefully for two years with a family that included four tween-to-teen boys. One day, while a child was playing basketball, Sarge grabbed the child’s hand. The hand was bruised but not broken or punctured — it’s very likely he mistook the hand for the ball. This was an isolated incident; there had never been any previous issues or concerns with Sarge during his time with that family. 🏠 Second Return: In his next adoptive home, Sarge was resting when a house guest he had never met leaned over and touched him, waking him from sleep. Startled, Sarge bit the guest. He was later professionally evaluated by a trainer who emphasized the importance of giving dogs space while they’re sleeping — especially when they're still adjusting to a new environment. The trainer felt Sarge behaved in a way many dogs might when startled and stressed, and reaffirmed that he is a good dog who simply needs thoughtful, respectful handling. To set Sarge up for success, we’re looking for a calm, adult-only home or one with older teens who can respect boundaries. He will thrive with someone who understands dog body language, gives him time to adjust, and follows best practices like not disturbing a sleeping dog. Sarge is not a “problem dog” — he’s a normal dog who’s been put in a few tough situations. What he needs now is a person or family who will advocate for him, respect his space, and love him for the amazing companion he is. Sarge is about 4-5 years old and 66 pounds. Please help Sarge find the loving home he deserves. Please understand that we are an animal shelter and thus unable to say whether the dogs are housebroken as they are not in homes. If they have been housebroken in the past, they will need time to acclimate to a new home routine from the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, we encourage you to please submit an application on our website today so that we can try and process and pre-approve any potential adopters prior to our next adoption event. Story
Viola is a beautiful soul that we think is about 3 year old  and a Beagle mix girl. This black and white beauty with adorable speckled legs and a sweet She only weighs 20 lbs and has the sweetest smile and absolutely loves people. She was found as a stray that was taken to the shelter very scared and almost shutdown while there. Her human mother died and Viola is now 5 years old. Unfortunately we don’t really know her story, but we feel there is some trauma there in her past. It takes her a little bit to get used to people and even longer for dogs. She wants a safe place to observe (wire crate suggested)  till she figures it out. Her foster kept her behind a gate and her bed was her safe place. For a few days she would growl through the gate at the other dogs but after that it was over. We would leave the gate open and she would venture out and if she got nervous she would go back to her safe place. She is never ugly to the other dogs at her foster and  if one of the Chihuahuas was mean to her,  she just ignored her. We have her using puppy pads because there is  no fenced yard. Viola would definetly need a fenced yard so she can safely explore and have potty breaks. The outdoors makes her nervous still. She loves her people immensely and adores  kids but older ones are best.  If you want to help and REALLY rescue a dog them Viola would be forever indebted to you.    If you are interested please email at ccrtennessee@gmail.com    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comNovember 29, 2025, 1:51 pm

Maggie Moo: Small Body, Big Personality, Endless Wiggles Looking for a low-to-the-ground, high-on-love kind of gal? Meet Maggie, also known as Mags, Maggie Moo, or Wiggles—because that tail never stops! She’s a 10-year-old Basset Hound/Jack Russell mix with short legs, a big heart, and an Olympic-level snuggle game. Don’t let her age fool you—this 30-pound sweetheart still zips around the yard like she’s part greyhound. She’s spunky, silly, and full of surprises, especially when she catches a case of the zoomies. Maggie’s specialty? Being extremely attached to her person. If you’ve got a lap (or even just a couch), she’s got a spot picked out. She’s a champion cuddler, a loyal sidekick, and basically your new little shadow. Once she bonds with you, you’re her person for life. She needs a child-free home where she can feel safe, secure, and doted on like the queen she is. But don’t worry—when Maggie loves you, she LOVES you. Expect heart-melting looks, constant companionship, and lots of wiggly affection.  As a bonus: she gets along great with other dogs and even cats. So if you’ve already got a fur family, Maggie just might fit right in. Maggie is the perfect blend of sassy and sweet, loyal and hilarious. If you’re ready for a lovable, nap-loving, people-adoring pup to share your days (and your furniture), Maggie’s ready to meet you. Interested? Let’s set up a meet-and-snuggle. Story
Friendly  Meet Cool Snoop Dogg, the most easygoing one-year-old Bassett/Beagle mix you could ever hope to meet. He’s currently around 30 pounds and will likely fill out in the 35–38 pound range once he reaches a healthy weight. One glance at his soft, soulful eyes is enough to understand just how deeply this sweet boy connects with his people. Everything about him—from his long Bassett body to his gorgeous droopy ears to that one charming knobby knee—makes him an irresistibly endearing companion. Snoop Dogg has the temperament of a dog twice his age. Instead of the constant curiosity you might expect from a Beagle, he carries himself with a calm, unhurried Bassett spirit. He enjoys exploring a little, but he’s not the type to keep his nose to the ground nonstop. He’s also not a big barker, only joining in when the other dogs decide there’s something worth discussing. On a leash he already does very well, and with just a little practice he’ll be close to perfect. What makes him truly special is his gentle, affectionate nature. If you sit on the ground, he immediately settles in close, wrapping you in a soft, sweet hug and offering the most tender kisses. For such a young dog, his kindness is remarkable. His foster family says he radiates peace, love, and pure goodness in everything he does. Snoop Dogg is wonderfully well-mannered, housebroken, and crate trained. He learned the doggy door in a single day and rides calmly in the car without stress or hesitation. Whether he’s with children, other dogs, cats, a busy family, an empty nest couple, or a single person, he adapts seamlessly. This boy truly fits anywhere, bringing joy, simplicity, and easy companionship into every space he enters. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle soul who just wants to love and be loved, Cool Snoop Dogg might be your perfect match.
