Story
Dexter is a handsome Hound mix with a nose that`s always ready for the next adventure! This sweet, affectionate boy is looking for a forever family that loves the outdoors as much as he does. Whether it`s a long walk through the neighborhood or a hike on your favorite trail, Dexter is happiest when he can follow his nose and explore the world one scent at a time.Like many hounds, Dexter is incredibly driven by his sense of smell and enjoys taking his time to investigate every interesting scent along the way. Because of his breed traits, he would do best with a family that has researched hounds or, even better, has previous experience owning one. Hounds are intelligent, fun-loving dogs, but they can also be vocal and independent, making them a better fit for experienced dog owners than first-time adopters.Dexter has participated in playgroups at the shelter and has shown to be social with female dogs around his size. He has displayed some selective behavior with male dogs and would do best in a home with female canine companions only.Because he is a hunting breed, Dexter`s history with cats and other small animals is unknown. However, adopters should keep in mind that his natural instincts may make a home with small pets difficult, so a feline- and small animal-free home would likely be the best fit.Based on his behavior in our care, we believe Dexter would do best in the home with Teens and Adults. He can get overwhelmed with smaller children.Dexter would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard where he can safely explore and stretch his legs. Due to his tendency to use his hound voice from time to time, apartment living or homes with shared walls are not the best fit for him.If you`re looking for a loyal adventure buddy with a big heart, an even bigger nose, and plenty of personality, Dexter is ready to sniff his way into your life. Come meet him today!

Meet Bongsik 💙 Adogs Instagram: @_adogs_ 1. Medical History * Neutered * Microchipped and heartworm negative. * Due to a past accident, his right hind leg was amputated. However, he manages his daily life wonderfully without any major issues! 2. Rescue Story * Bongsik entered the Gimje Shelter last summer after being caught in a trap. He underwent surgery to amputate his injured leg. Heartbroken by his tragic story, Adogs stepped in to rescue him and give him a second chance at life. 3. Personality & Characteristics * Interaction with Humans: Is very shy and fearful around people, and it may take a significant amount of time to get close to him. While he tends to dodge or run away initially, he slowly allows physical touch once he gets used to you. Will also occasionally approach you to accept tasty treats! * Interaction with Dogs: Gets along wonderfully with his friends at the center. Is very patient and playful with younger puppies and matches the energy of active dogs well. * Interaction with Cats: Doesn't pay much attention to cats and remains largely indifferent when he sees them. * Separation Anxiety: Since he is currently living in a group environment at the center, it is difficult to accurately assess. * Potty Training: Currently uses indoor potty areas at the center and does very well on pee pads. Does not have a habit of marking. * Motion Sickness: Has shown no signs of car sickness during short-distance rides. * Biting/Aggression: Is a gentle, sweet soul who has shown absolutely no biting tendencies. * Barking: Has not shown any barking behavior at the center. Traing may be necessary in a new home environment. * Likes: Absolutely loves treats! * Dislikes: Is very timid and easily startled by loud noises. * Personality: Is a fearful boy who tends to run away from people at first, so he needs a family that will give him plenty of time and space to warm up. Once he establishes a bond, he displays a playful, affectionate side and becomes very vibrant and active when playing with other dogs!
