Bruno, the resident lover boy, has never met a lap he didn’t adore. This sweet, snuggly pup gives the kind of soggy doggie kisses that make you laugh and melt at the same time. He’s charming, affectionate, and happiest when he’s curled up with his favorite humans. Juno is the lean-in king. If he was a cat, he’d be purring through every petting session. Story
Looking for a Loving Forever Home 🤍 We’re looking to rehome our 11-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Poodle mix. He’s been part of our family for years, but unfortunately my mom is no longer able to care for him the way he needs, so we’re hoping to find him a loving new home soon. He can be anxious and doesn’t do well being alone for long periods of time. He’s much calmer when he has someone around and really just loves having a person to sit with and follow around throughout the day. I think he would be perfect for someone who works from home, is retired, or is home often and wants a little companion. At 11, he deserves somewhere peaceful and stable where he can settle in and be loved for the rest of his life. We would like to find him a home as soon as possible, but most importantly, we want to make sure he goes to someone who genuinely wants him and will love and care for him. 🤍

Story
4 months old, 10 pounds Personality: playful, affectionate, energetic, mischievous, and timid. Birchwood is an incredibly cuddly little boy with a gentle soul and just the right mix of puppy playfulness and calm charm. He still gets his daily zoomies and loves romping around with other dogs, but he also adores being held like a baby, curling up against his people, or resting his head on you while he naps. This playful boy is also a toy enthusiast — when he finds one he really loves, he proudly carries it around everywhere he goes. Between his chunky little body, short legs, affectionate nature, and adorable side-eye expressions, he has a way of completely winning people over within minutes. Birchwood has done especially well with crate training, and his crate has truly become his comfort zone. Throughout the day, he’ll choose to relax there on his own, especially if something loud startles him. When left alone, Birchwood settles down quickly and sleeps comfortably in his crate. He’s also comfortable with children once they settle down a bit and enjoys quiet cuddle time once he feels secure. This smart cookie already understands words like “no” and “good boy,” and he responds especially well to praise and encouragement. He’s also shown that while he can be cautious at first, he has a brave streak — once he worked up the courage to try the scary elevator, Maple quickly followed his lead. He’s curious, affectionate, and eager to keep learning as his confidence grows. Birchwood is looking for a patient home that will give him the safety, structure, and affection he needs to continue building his confidence at his own pace. He would likely thrive in a quieter home with older children or adults who’ll help him continue his training. If Birchwood sounds like the right fit for your home, apply today to meet him! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. Story
Do you like fuzzy dogs?  Minnie is the girl for you!  This happy playful girl is just over one year old and 28 pounds. She came to PAW labeled as Border Collie, but her foster thinks she is more Jack Russell Terrier mixed with some kind of retriever that gives her a beautiful coat. In her foster home, she has two dogs to play with--and she loves to play. She would probably do best in a home where she has another resident dog, and a fenced-in yard where she can run. Minnie does great in the home.  When she tires out from all that play, she loves to lie in your lap or on your foot. She will "follow you around and will lean into you or attempt to sit on part of you if you are still," says her foster. She wants to be with her person/people all of the time! She trusts her person and will let him/her take things from her that she shouldn't have. Minnie loves her toys and will run around the house with them, chewing them, tossing them in the air, and bringing them to her foster to engage.  She loves to chew and an assortment of hard chew toys keep her happily occupied. While she is great in the home she is not great on walks.  When on leash she tends to bark and lunge at things that move..  She is very smart and motivated by treats, so she's been quick to learn and she wants to please - but she will need someone willing to work on training and who can walk her in the woods or more quiet places.  Minnie would do well in a home where she can be walked with regularity and given playtime and training. Her foster believes that she wold be fine with respectful kids over five-years old.  Minnie can be afraid of a quick approach, and needs a stable and calm home, one in which she can feel safe. That being said, she warms up quickly and then sweetly trusts. Minnie has visited the foster's neighbor, who has a cat, and although it was sleeping upstairs Minnie sniffed all of the cat stuff (beds, scratch pads, etc) with casual interest…..far different than the fixed, assertive stance she takes when near the scent of a squirrel, so she may be able to cohabitate with felines, but we are not yet sure. Minnie is a fun dog to be around. She is very agile, and can leap and run, so she is a perfect candidate for agility training. If you want a loving, energetic companion, Minnie is the perfect dog for you. PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC, southern PA region. ##2627837##

Story
Pollywog is a young, 20-pound 4yo sweetheart with a playful spirit and an even bigger heart. She loves walks, car rides, exploring new places, and making friends wherever she goes. At just 20 pounds, she's the perfect size for almost any home—and whether she's romping with another dog or curled up beside her favorite person, Pollywog is happiest when she's sharing lifes adventures with someone she loves. Pollywog enjoys playing with other dogs and would likely love a canine companion to help show her the ropes. She's blossoming in her foster home, gaining confidence and learning good manners by following the lead of her foster brother. She's treat-motivated, learning commands like "sit" and "down" and making great progress with gentle reminders that playtime shouldn't include puppy teeth. She also loves chew toys, earrubs, brushing sessions, and just about any attention you're willing to give. Pollywog is crate trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and is doing great with her house training. She's learning to let her foster family know when she needs to go outside and hasn't had an overnight accident in her foster home. Her favorite place to be is close to her people—or her dog buddy—and she'll happily follow you from room to room like your own little shadow. Pollywog is looking for a family who will continue building her confidence with consistency, patience, and lots of love. In return, you'll get an affectionate, playful companion who's always ready for the next adventure—or the next cuddle. PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC, and southern PA region. ##2743433##
