Story
Miss Greta is a quirky little terrier mix who is approx. 6-7 years young and 7 lbs. This little scruff muffin—with her silly mohawk and bushy eyebrows—is searching for her perfect person. Background: For several days, Greta and her pal Buffy were running around terrified and unable to be caught by concerned neighbors. HARTT stepped in to help trap these girls and they made their way to foster homes where they await forever homes.  Personality: Greta is sweet, cuddly, and loving, but selective with her affections. She is wary of new people, but we are working on her socialization skills and she is making progress. Once you break through and earn her trust, Greta will love you deeply. She'll roll over for belly rubs, snuggle up next to you on the couch, and give the sweetest little kisses. Greta enjoys going for walks, lounging in her stroller, playing with toys, and chewing on bully sticks. (Greta loves her stroller so much it will be included with her adoption.) Health: Greta is up to date on all vaccines, spayed, microchipped, and received a dental cleaning. Training: Greta is house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. She does not use a dog door. Ideal Home: Greta requires a special home with love, patience, and a family who will continue to work on her confidence-building. Greta would thrive in a child-free home with a confident female owner who will help her break out of her comfort zone. Greta is less comfortable around men. She is used to being around many different dogs in her foster home, but does best with small, calm dogs. Greta is also fine with cats but would likely do just fine as an only pet. Greta will not use a dog door and likes someone to accompany her when she goes outside. A secure, fenced-in yard is essential to ensure her safety. Adoption Requirements: Greta’s adoption fee is $350. If you live in the Phoenix metro area, have secure fencing, and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*: helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up.  February 17, 2025, 8:28 am

Most have never lived in a house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. Most of these dogs are not socialized and need to be cornered to be picked up, so are not suitable for people with physical disabilities or suffer from PTSD. They need folks who will make them the center of their world and help them learn to trust before even attempting to train. Please do not apply if you do not meet the requirements of the dogs we rescue. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. We state any known health issues, all are altered unless there is a medical reason not to, which we will advise, any known medical issues addressed, are microchipped, are UTD on all vaccines and have been checked out by at least one veterinarian, usually two. We do not guarantee the health of any of our rescued dogs. The dogs we rescue have lived with other dogs all of their lives and most get along with other dogs. We state if they are dog aggressive. We require a permanent, full-time parent. That means you must be able to spend the majority of your time with your new companion to socialize and train. We do not, under any circumstances, place them in homes with young children as they have not been exposed to children and we do not know how they will react.  Hi! My name is ivy and I am a beautiful Yorkie/Cairn girl who is 1 year old, and I weigh  8 pounds.  I am very sweet, but also very shy. I am dainty, gentle, and love to be petted. I am a quiet girl who loves to lay in doggy beds with the other dogs in my foster home. I will need a fenced in yard because I am not comfortable on a leash. I do love to play so another young dog in my home that is playful is a requirement. If you have been waiting for a sweet, calm girl to love, please ask for me on your application to http://www.breederadoptions.org. Love, IvyJanuary 28, 2025, 11:18 pm

Bella’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! If you would like to be considered to for this adoption or any of our amazing rescues, please fill out the application with the help of this link. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/AZST/Dog. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest.
