Story
We have a transport trip to NorCal and OR on 7/27/24 and we would love to add Ava to our trip for the right family ❤️ Meet Ava. She is a purebred chocolate yorkie female. She is tiny, and weighs aprox 3/4 lbs. Yes, she is full grown, and yes, she is at a healthy weight. She is 3 years of age ❤️ She is spayed, current on all vaccines, microchipped, and is scheduled to have a dental cleaning as that's one thing her last owner never had done. She will be thourely examined, and cleared by our vet prior to adoption 💗💗💗 She is pad trained, and is good about using them if in her space. She will go outside to use the restroom, but is always accompanied due to the wildlife we have here and her small size. If you have her on a schedule then potty time won't be a big issue whatsoever. She is crate trained, and has zero issues using a crate. She is leash trained; and loves her walks however she can get them. She is VERY sweet with people. She is NOT a barker, but will alert you of unfamiliar noises. She is good with all dogs we have here, but does not need to have dogs in her next home as she truly is a people dog and would enjoy being the princess in her next home. She is an amazing little companion ❤️ She is great on road trips around town, so if you travel she would accompany you beautifully. She is wonderful at the groomers and enjoys her spa days. She has very good house manners, and loves to just be close to her humans. She is not needy, and quite independent and understanding if your time can't fully revolve around her, but she won't have any complaints when all eyes are on her and hands 🤣 as she loves ear scratches, and belly rubs if you don't mind giving them to her 💕 She LOVES treat time, and while she won't beg for treats, cuz ladies don't beg of course 😉 she will patiently sit and gaze into your eyes ever so slightly as if treat time really is just like any other time of the day but I assure you her heart is so happy and full when she finally gets her treats ❤️❤️ Her prior owners sadly couldn't keep her any longer because they were unable to to provide her with the life she deserved due to an extreme financial hardship in their family that left them having to move in with relatives. They didn't want her to go without, and didn't know when their situation would change so they contacted us here to take her in and find her the home her heart so desperately craves 💗 Don't pass by this amazingly sweet, beautiful, kind hearted, precious little soul and contact us today! Adoption fee along with its breakdown is under her listing on our website at breadoflifek9refuge.org. It covers her vetting including her dental cleaning that will be done, along with her time, care, and training since with us.

Story
Hello friends! 🐕 I'm a sweet guy who may not make the best first impression because I'm really shy and awkward. But once you get to know me and offer me some treats, I start to warm up. I prefer dogs my size over human children, they can be a bit overwhelming for me. I need someone patient who understands that I need time to adjust and build my confidence. I may take longer than expected, but I'm really looking forward to finding my forever home!BakerMy name is Baker, I'm a Yorkie Terrier Dachsund type mix and I am still pretty young at just under 2 years old. I'm not a big guy, I'm about 10-12 lbs. I need a special home. Read more about me!TEMPERAMENT:Shy at first and warms up.Active (puppy energy).Shows fear of menWould do well with a playful dog friendSKILLSDoing great with potty training.Crate trained.Good with dogs.Has not been exposed to cats.Would probably be ok with older gentle children 12 and up.MORE ABOUT ME:Likes belly rubs.Couch cuddler.Likes playing with other dogs.Suggest training (basic manners).ONE LAST THING:Baker is a very sweet, playful young pup. Potential adopters should know that he will need time to settle into his new home and will need to be bribed with treats on treats on treats to love them. He is super shy at first and can be barky with new people. While he will want desperately to be pet once he warms up he, will take time to actually allow you to pet him. Once he has bonded, it is a forever kind of love. He adores snuggling and cuddling with his favorite people and doggie friends.Baker adores running and playing with other dogs and is ball obsessed. He will wait until one of his furry friends goes outside to go out himself. Baker is a bit of a homebody. He gets incredibly anxious on car rides.Baker is doing well with potty training as long as he is let out every hour or so. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly throughout the night. He will need to be crated when left alone since he gets bored when left to his own devices and can be a terrier and tear something up. But if you put in the time, Baker is an absolute love.July 22, 2024, 5:47 pm

Story
Meet the pretty little Gracie! She is a 1 ½ -year-old, 12 pound, Brussels Griffon / Yorkie mix ?. She has a golden colored, easy care, scruffy, coat with hints of brindle and warm brown eyes. Gracie was adopted from AFC with Casper (also available: if you would like a pair) and they were returned due to their adopter’s health problems. She is adorable and will melt your heart with her loving gaze. She is on a little on the shy side and will need a little patience to blossom. Gracie is an absolute LAP DOG! She would love a home that includes her in all their daily activities. She can climb so a properly fenced secure yard is a necessity. She is leash trained. She does well with going outside to potty and she is used to a good routine. Here at the sanctuary, we use the command “go potty” before taking the dogs out to do their business. Gracie is happy to comply and keeps her kennel clean. Gracie would be a great addition to an adult home though she is great with teenagers. She is spayed, microchipped and currently vaccinated. Gracie is waiting to love you! Could you be the special family that Reggie is looking for? He is a handsome, 1-year-old, 13 pound, gold, Yorkie mix. He will require regular professional grooming to look his best. He was found as a stray and never claimed by an owner. He is a Velcro dog and wants to be with you 24/7. He would love to be your constant companion. He loves to talk so please be someone that enjoys communicating. He gets along with some other dogs (his size) but he would be fine as an only dog with a work from home person. He may need some leash training. He goes outside to do his business with the command “go potty and uses our doggie door at the sanctuary”. He is a smart boy. Please teach him some tricks and get some mental stimulation toys ? Please also be a homeowner with a securely fenced yard. He is not suited for apartment or condo living. Story
**Beans is a mixed breed dog and we cannot guarantee he is allergy friendly.**   What's not to love about Beans? Beans is a 4-year-old love muffin who is the sweetest boy around. He is quite the little charmer and will hop right in your lap for some cuddles and love. He is an easy-going guy who seems like he could be a great fit for just about anyone. Beans is fully grown and weighs about 10 lbs. Beans came to us after he was found as a stray and brought to our local shelter. He was found with his buddy, Frank. Both dogs were in horrible condition when found and were covered in mats and foxtails. We were able to get them groomed and they are feeling so much better with their new haircuts. Frank and Beans would do best in separate adoptive homes as Frank loves Beans more than Beans loves Frank. Beans is the more mellow of the two dogs and is happy to chill next to you while you work from home or relax from a long day at work. He enjoys his walks and is the best neighborhood stroll partner. He loves to cuddle and is happiest when he can be snuggled up with someone in his foster home. Beans seems like he has been in a home before, but doesn't seem like he has had any training up until now, so his new family should be prepared to work with him on learning his basic manners. Beans has done well with other small dogs but also wouldn't mind being your spoiled-only pup. Beans has been doing well living with cats after a slow introduction and with proper supervision. Beans currently lives in a foster home with kids and could be a wonderful addition to a family with kids 5 years or older. Beans has been doing well with his housetraining, but he should be supervised when first adopted until he has adjusted to a new environment and routine. Beans have been doing well being crated at night and when alone. Due to his fur type, Beans requires frequent grooming. His new family should be prepared to pay for professional grooming or be willing to learn to ensure his coat is properly maintained. Beans is such a fabulous little dog and he is oh-so ready for his fur-ever home. If you think that might be with you, submit an adoption application today!   Beans's adoption fee is $350.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. July 24, 2024, 5:46 pm
