Adoptable in: MA, RI, NH, CT, and VTGood with dogs: YesGood with cats: YesGood with kids: Unknown, unable to test, likely yesCrate trained: YesHouse Trained: YesThis little princess is Pretzel. She’s a whole lot of sweet, a tad bit shy, but never salty. This gentle pup will take a moment to warm up and build trust, but once she settles in and feels safe, she will reveal her playful side. She enjoys the finer things in life like sunning herself outside and hanging with her dog friends. She’ll also seek out snuggles throughout the day, preferring soft, quiet moments where she can rest her head next to someone she trusts.Pretzel enjoys the company of other dogs and would be happy with another canine (or even a cat!) who can offer companionship when she wants it. She also values her independence and loves having safe spaces to explore on her own. Because she’s initially timid, a home without small children is best. She can thrive with older, dog-savvy kids who understand gentle energy and personal space.Pretzel is a proper lady that knows exactly where to handle her business. She is also crate-trained, sleeping soundly overnight and relaxing comfortably for a few hours during the day. She would make a wonderful, easygoing companion for someone who appreciates a quieter pace — think retirees, remote workers, or anyone looking for a soft-hearted sidekick.Pretzel is waiting for someone patient, kind, and ready for a quiet companion. Could that be you? Please Note: All dogs are posted on our website until they are officially adopted. This dog may have other interested adopters in line. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. Story
I’m looking to rehome my daughter’s dog, Sparky. He is 6 years old, a Yorkie mix, and weighs about 21 pounds. Sparky is generally very quiet and only barks when he needs to go outside or when someone is at the door. He has always been my daughter’s dog and is very bonded to her. He sleeps in the bed with her and tends to attach closely to one person rather than the whole family. Because of this, I feel he would do best with someone who wants a close companion and can take him along as part of their daily life. Sparky can stay home alone for a few hours without any issues. However, he does not adjust well to being left alone in unfamiliar environments and seems to experience anxiety when separated from his owner in new places. He can also be protective of his food and anything he finds on the floor. He may growl or snap if someone tries to take it away from him, so he would do best with an experienced owner who understands resource guarding and can work with him patiently. We want t
