Story
Evie is a lovely little senior girl with lots of love to give. She was returned to Saver of Souls when her person passed away. She is calm and quiet and enjoys being pet and sitting in your lap. Evie will go outside to use the bathroom but will also use a puppy pad if one is available. She enjoys a walk but also likes to be out in the yard on nice days. She gets along well with dogs, cats and kids. She is very small so it's recommended that she lives with older children. Evie has a genetic condition called Blue Dilution Alopecia. This in no way affects her health or longevity. The fur that she has in unbelievably soft! Evie is everything you would want in a companion to love and who will love her family.

Story
Meet Minnie a yorkie/silky– 8 Pounds of Sass, Spark, and Snuggles! 🌶️ Fostered in Virginia Beach, VA Looking to add a little chaos, comedy, and cuddles to your life? Meet Minnie, our spunky 2.5-year-old Yorkie firecracker who’s busy, bossy, and bursting with love. She’s just 8 pounds but runs the house like she weighs 80. 💥 Minnie is a do-it-all, into-everything kind of gal. She’s not laid back — she’s lively, curious, opinionated, and wants in on whatever you're doing. She needs a human who’s home most of the time, up for her antics, and happy to have a tiny shadow following them all day. This girl is not a good fit for someone who’s out every evening, works long hours, or wants a low-maintenance companion. 💃 She does best with a stay-at-home dog mom/dad or someone working part-time from home — someone who enjoys a high-energy, high-snuggle lifestyle and doesn’t mind being “supervised” during bathroom breaks and lunch. 😅 🏃‍♀️ Minnie is fast — and we mean FAST. She’s an escape artist who needs a fully fenced yard or large private enclosed patio with space for potty area. No dog parks, no leash-only potty breaks, and no apartment living. You must have a secure way to contain her and a barrier or routine to block the front door when guests arrive. 🛏️ She is NOT a crate dog. Minnie expects to sleep in your bed or on a raised bed next to yours — not shut in a cage. If your house is no-pets-on-the-furniture, she is not the dog for you. She thrives on closeness and wants to be tucked in with her person at night. 🐶 She’s selective about friends. No dogs over 20 lbs, but she loves small dogs and would enjoy a tiny playmate. She can also be your solo partner-in-crime — she’s got enough personality for two. Absolutely no big dogs. 👶 Children must be 10 or older. She’s gentle but energetic and may bump into or overwhelm smaller kids with her intensity. ⚠️ Important Placement Note: Minnie is healthy and could live another 15+ years. She is not a match for a senior adopter with declining health or for someone looking for a lap dog to gift to Grandma. Minnie needs a forever person who will outlive her — not the other way around. 💡 To Adopt Minnie, You Must Have: ✅ A secure, fenced yard or enclosed patio homeowner (no shared spaces or parks) ✅ No big dogs — only small dog companions under 20lbs no cats ( she loves smaller shelties ) ✅ A stay-at-home or work-from-home lifestyle ✅ Kids 10+ only ✅ be under 65 yrs old ✅ A safe way to block the front door ✅ Pets allowed on the furniture — Minnie needs to sleep with or near her human ✅ A lifestyle that can match Minnie’s zest and energy — no social butterflies, party people, or constant travelers If you’re ready to share your heart, your bed, and your every day with a little dog who’s full of mischief, loyalty, love, and sass — Minnie is your girl. ❤️ Apply to meet her at: 👉 www.coastalsheltierescue.org #SpiceOfLife #MinnieTheYorkie #CoastalSheltieRescue #AdoptDontShop #VirginiaBeachDog #HighEnergyTinyDog #RescueAndRejoice

Story
For inquiries email belle@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $500 Location: Virginia Beach, VA Meet Coco Chanel! A Content Little Lady Coco Chanel comes to us from the Suffolk shelter. She is a 12 pound yorkie (mix?) approximately 8 years old. Coco is an exceptionally happy dog, who thrives on human interaction and affection. She loves spending time with people and enjoys being the center of attention. She is content and calm, with no signs of anxiety, and is truly a joyful companion. At night, Coco sleeps in a crate in the foster's room. During the day, when her foster family is away for about three hours, she is also crated. While she may whine a little initially, she quickly settles down and spends her time sleeping or napping. Coco walks well on a leash, especially on grassy surfaces, which are easier for her than concrete or sidewalks due to her ataxia and hind leg weakness. For her safety, she should be kept away from stairs, both going up and down. Coco experiences some unsteadiness due to weakness in her back legs. Although her movements can be wobbly, recent X-rays have not shown any signs of trauma. She is currently awaiting both her dental procedure and spay, which are scheduled for 10/24. While Coco is becoming more comfortable around the resident dogs in her foster home, she is still unsure of them and prefers to keep her distance. She is happiest when she can relax quietly in her dog bed, especially when people are nearby. Coco Chanel is a loving dog who simply wants to be with her people. She would do best as the only dog in the household, as she is not a fan of the other resident dogs. She is perfectly content to remain in a separate room away from them and has shown no signs of anxiety, making her a relaxed and happy companion. Additionally, she is always happy to receive the occasional treat. Please follow us on social media for the most up to date photos and information. Story
Mickey is appropriately 7-8 years old Yorkie. A few months ago, he was unfortunately hit by a car, and the owners relinquished him to animal control in hopes he would find a rescue that would provide him with the necessary medical care he needed to recover. After a massive surgery by a specialized surgeon, his pelvic area was pieced back together. His foster mom took the best care of him during this time and has done amazing work with him to help rehabilitate.  Mickey craves attention like any Yorkie. He loves sharing a favorite chair or sofa and snuggles. He is great with people, but he isn’t kid tested. Because he is still unsteady on his feet and will be healing and strengthening for a while, homes need to not have young children or rambunctious dogs, because he could easily be trampled and injured. Short walks and an easy, cozy life is what this pup needs for his future. He loves toys and to play tug. Mickey is sensitive to unknown sounds and will bark at them. Unknown sounds could be a whistling teapot, sandhill cranes, gun shots (he is being fostered in the country), etc. He has a big voice for such a small fellow, so no attached style living for him. Mickey gets along well with other small dogs, playing with them, sharing his bed and their companionship. Cats are not a good fit for Mickey's future home, because he is quite persistent and annoying to them, and even a swat doesn’t deter him.  Mickey is fostered in Myakka City, FL, and his fee is $350. He's fully vetted and ready to go.  No airplane trips for this guy, he must go home by way of riding.    Emails generated from Adopt a Pet or Petfinder will NOT be returned. If you visit our website and the dog is marked "available," that means it is available and we are accepting applications. Please read the dog's bio (below) in its entirety before asking questions. Story
Meet Norah !! This tiny little lady is such a sweet girl. A really great low key dog. She came to us from the shelter. She had some pretty bad dental needs that we have gotten fixed. She is doing really well and ready to find a great new home. Norah is an approx. 9 year old female. She is a Yorkie mix. She weighs 9.7 Pounds. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped already. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. She just had her dental cleaning and is doing well. She has been very good with her training so far. She has done very well with potty training and so far not had any accidents. She is crate trained but also does well without a crate. She was perfect on all car rides. She does well on a leash also but prefers to be carried. Norah has done well with all the dogs she’s met both big and small. She is also fine being the only dog as she is more interested in her people. She is friendly and loving with kids. As with any dog she would need any children in the house to be respectful and not treat her like a toy. She’s never been around cats so we don’t know how she would do. She has a fairly low energy level and would be great for a senior home or even a home that works and needs a lower energy dog that wont be bothered being home all day. She has spunky moments where she likes to run around the yard but nothing to energetic. Norah isn’t much into toys or playing. She is just content to hang out around the house and get loved one. She hasn’t shown any issues sharing food, treats, or toys with humans or other pets. Overall she’s a wonderful and loving dog thats very easy going. A great little companion! ??She will need regular grooming. This requires time to get her to and from the appointments and additional expenses to pay for it. On average a dog of this breed will need grooming every 6 weeks. This should be fully considered prior to applying to adopt her.?? Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ??Please message us directly at villagedogresource@gmail.com with questions or to get an application.
