Story
Mickey is appropriately 7-8 years old Yorkie. A few months ago, he was unfortunately hit by a car, and the owners relinquished him to animal control in hopes he would find a rescue that would provide him with the necessary medical care he needed to recover. After a massive surgery by a specialized surgeon, his pelvic area was pieced back together. His foster mom took the best care of him during this time and has done amazing work with him to help rehabilitate.  Mickey craves attention like any Yorkie. He loves sharing a favorite chair or sofa and snuggles. He is great with people, but he isn’t kid tested. Because he is still unsteady on his feet and will be healing and strengthening for a while, homes need to not have young children or rambunctious dogs, because he could easily be trampled and injured. Short walks and an easy, cozy life is what this pup needs for his future. He loves toys and to play tug. Mickey is sensitive to unknown sounds and will bark at them. Unknown sounds could be a whistling teapot, sandhill cranes, gun shots (he is being fostered in the country), etc. He has a big voice for such a small fellow, so no attached style living for him. Mickey gets along well with other small dogs, playing with them, sharing his bed and their companionship. Cats are not a good fit for Mickey's future home, because he is quite persistent and annoying to them, and even a swat doesn’t deter him.  Mickey is fostered in Myakka City, FL, and his fee is $350. He's fully vetted and ready to go.  No airplane trips for this guy, he must go home by way of riding.    Emails generated from Adopt a Pet or Petfinder will NOT be returned. If you visit our website and the dog is marked "available," that means it is available and we are accepting applications. Please read the dog's bio (below) in its entirety before asking questions. Story
Meet Loveable Loki! Loki is a 7-year-old yorkie mix who weighs 15 lbs. This super handsome gray and white boy has fur as soft and luxurious as silk. Best of all, Loki's soft fur does not shed, so you can keep wearing your black clothes! Loki was surrendered to Critter Cavalry because his owner could no longer afford to care for him after moving from Florida to Tennessee. Unfortunately, Loki developed allergies and needed daily medication. Since joining Critter Cavalry, he has seen a dermatologist, and it turns out he does have allergies. Thankfully, these are now well-managed with quality food, one pill, and regular grooming. His last grooming appointment showed no signs of allergies at all, and a change of location from Tennessee should also help. You won’t find a more lovable companion than Loki. He greets everyone with enthusiasm and will happily leap into the lap of anyone sitting down. He simply wants to be near you, whether on the couch or in your chair. Make sure there’s always room for him at night, as he’ll snuggle up close before you know it. Loki also adores the company of other small dogs and thrives in a home with multiple pets; he definitely is not a lone ranger! He is housebroken and can be left loose in the house. While he isn’t a fan of car rides, he loves going for walks and happily trots ahead of you down the street. Loki thrives on routine and organization, making him an excellent companion for a middle-aged couple with one or two other dogs. Although he hasn’t been around children, he should do well with kids over 8 who understand how to treat pets properly. Loki is neutered, up-to-date on all his vaccinations, and microchipped. If you would like to be considered for Loki's forever family and request an adoption application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. Note that an approved application and adoption fee are required.June 7, 2025, 12:30 pm

Story
For inquiries email jonna@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $600 Location: Manassas, VA Things to consider when applying to adopt Johnny Cash: he is about 2 years or less he will require professional grooming he will need supervision, he is fast and enjoys running in a fenced yard we do not know if he likes children at this time he is high energy he prefers ladies to men but does warm up to men if they take a slow approach fenced yards given preference UPDATE: 5/14/2025 Johnny Cash is a great traveler. He loves the beach and will be your beach buddy all day. We really do not know why he has not found a home. He is such a good boy. Yeah, he is a bit of a diva, but aren't all yorkies :-) Seriously, though, he is a great little dog and he will make a wonderful companion in an adult/older child home with a fenced yard. UPDATE 4/7/2025: Johnny Cash is such a good boy. He loves to run and play in the yard. He is full of energy and needs walking and zoomie time daily. We continue to monitor him for his CT and with medications and monitoring he is doing well. He is ready for adoption. We cannot understand why this guy is still here. Johnny Cash is new to us in rescue. He looks like a yorkie mix. He is definitely a terrier mix so he will need monthly trips to a professional groomer to maintain his coat. The shelter estimates his age to be around 2 years. So far Johnny Cash seems like a happy go lucky little boy. He is young and full of energy. If you have the time and energy to train a puppy, please apply now. He is a love bug! Johnny Cash is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He is ready for his new home. MEDICAL INFORMATION: Johnny Cash has a condition known as collapsing trachea. When he came to us from the shelter he had a bad case of kennel cough requiring treatment. Since then he continued to have issues with his trachea and we followed up with his vet to diagnose the condition. You can read more about collapsing trachea here. It can be managed by your local veterinarian with medication as well as other options but it should be monitored regularly. Story
For inquiries email eabriggs@aol.com Fee: $400 Location: Chesapeake, VA UPDATE: Somer is doing well since entering our care. She came to us with a horrible case of kennel cough. She was medicated aggressively and is now so much better. She had a dental on Monday (5/12) and did well. She has recovered and is back to normal already. She is a tough little lady. Somer is ready for adoption. She does have some hearing loss and limited vision but she does not let that stop her. She is still going strong! Somer is new in rescue. She is an 11 pound, senior (maybe 12) yorkie. She has been seen by the vet and is currently awaiting her spay. She does have some chronic ear issues (is seems) and is being treated with drops after a good cleaning. She seems to be tolerant of house mates and people. She may have some vision impairment and seems to be hard of hearing. She is learning to trust foster mom. She is a sweet but skittish little girl. She has been through a lot. She will thrive with someone home most of the time to reassure her. Please follow us on social media for the most up to date photos and information. Story
Meet Jazz and Wobbles! These two are a mother and daughter pair who came to us in August from a local animal control. They were part of a hoarding case and are very attached. THIS IS A BONDED PAIR AND MUST BE ADOPTED TOGETHER. Jazz is a 4.5-year-old Yorkie mix weighing 15 lbs. Wobbles is a 6.5-year-old Yorkie mix weighing 25 lbs. Both had cherry eyes when they arrived, and we fixed the surgery but Wobbles’ returned. Because they haven't been outside much until now, they're scared of new things and noises, so they need to have a fenced yard. They love attention but need time to trust you. They're currently living with other dogs and a child in their foster home without any problems. If you're patient and willing to give them love, they'll be wonderful additions to your family! Remember, adopting a dog means committing to them for life. If you're interested in adopting Jazz and Wobbles, please don't call. Instead, fill out an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We check the care history of past and current pets to ensure the best homes for our animals. We reserve the right to approve or deny applications based on what's best for the pets. #lovedogsforever #yorkiemix #littledogs #dogrescue #dogs #rescueismyfavoritebreed #dogsareacommittment #rescuedog #lovedogs #adopt #adoptdontshop
