For inquiries email jonna@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $600 Location: Manassas, VA Things to consider when applying to adopt Johnny Cash: he is about 2 years or less he will require professional grooming he will need supervision, he is fast and enjoys running in a fenced yard we do not know if he likes children at this time he is high energy he prefers ladies to men but does warm up to men if they take a slow approach fenced yards given preference UPDATE: 5/14/2025 Johnny Cash is a great traveler. He loves the beach and will be your beach buddy all day. We really do not know why he has not found a home. He is such a good boy. Yeah, he is a bit of a diva, but aren't all yorkies :-) Seriously, though, he is a great little dog and he will make a wonderful companion in an adult/older child home with a fenced yard. UPDATE 4/7/2025: Johnny Cash is such a good boy. He loves to run and play in the yard. He is full of energy and needs walking and zoomie time daily. We continue to monitor him for his CT and with medications and monitoring he is doing well. He is ready for adoption. We cannot understand why this guy is still here. Johnny Cash is new to us in rescue. He looks like a yorkie mix. He is definitely a terrier mix so he will need monthly trips to a professional groomer to maintain his coat. The shelter estimates his age to be around 2 years. So far Johnny Cash seems like a happy go lucky little boy. He is young and full of energy. If you have the time and energy to train a puppy, please apply now. He is a love bug! Johnny Cash is up to date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. He is ready for his new home. MEDICAL INFORMATION: Johnny Cash has a condition known as collapsing trachea. When he came to us from the shelter he had a bad case of kennel cough requiring treatment. Since then he continued to have issues with his trachea and we followed up with his vet to diagnose the condition. You can read more about collapsing trachea here. It can be managed by your local veterinarian with medication as well as other options but it should be monitored regularly. For inquiries email eabriggs@aol.com Fee: $400 Location: Chesapeake, VA UPDATE: Somer is doing well since entering our care. She came to us with a horrible case of kennel cough. She was medicated aggressively and is now so much better. She had a dental on Monday (5/12) and did well. She has recovered and is back to normal already. She is a tough little lady. Somer is ready for adoption. She does have some hearing loss and limited vision but she does not let that stop her. She is still going strong! Somer is new in rescue. She is an 11 pound, senior (maybe 12) yorkie. She has been seen by the vet and is currently awaiting her spay. She does have some chronic ear issues (is seems) and is being treated with drops after a good cleaning. She seems to be tolerant of house mates and people. She may have some vision impairment and seems to be hard of hearing. She is learning to trust foster mom. She is a sweet but skittish little girl. She has been through a lot. She will thrive with someone home most of the time to reassure her. Please follow us on social media for the most up to date photos and information. Meet Minnie: Your Pint-Sized Bundle of Joy! Calling all Yorkie lovers! ❤️ Foster Virginia Beach Virginia Are you looking for the spice in your life? 🌶️ Meet Minnie, our adorable 2-year-old, 8-pound Yorkie who’s ready to fill your days with endless love and adventure! 🌟 Minnie is the ultimate companion for anyone seeking a tiny furball of joy who loves people and other small dogs. 🐾 Minnie may be small, but she’s got a big personality! 💥 She’s perfect for anyone who wants a dog that can fit in a purse and accompany you on all your adventures. 🎒 ( stay at home parent is what she needs) However, Minnie prefers a little luxury when it comes to potty time. 🚽 She’s not a fan of the leash for bathroom breaks, so she’ll thrive in a home with a closed-off private area for her to do her business. 🚧 she is not a dog park dog you must have a small backyard completely closed off in order to apply. Cuddle enthusiasts, rejoice! 🛋️ Minnie is a professional snuggler, ready to curl up with you for 20 hours a day. 💖 Whether you’re binge-watching your favorite shows 📺 or working from home 💻, Minnie will be right there, providing endless warmth and affection. Minnie is fantastic with other little dogs 🐶, she can not go a home with other dogs over 20lbs 🐕 If you have a small dog and are looking for a new friend, Minnie could be the perfect fit. 👫 She would do best in a home with someone with steady legs, as she loves to jump up and can sometimes be a bit hard on the back of your legs. 💪 ❤️ If you’re ready to welcome a pint-sized, loving, and adventurous companion into your life, Minnie is ready to go home with you. 🏡 Applications are required for a meet and greet to ensure Minnie finds her perfect match. 📝 Come meet this little bundle of joy and let her add some spice to your life! 🎉 children should be over 8 * yard must have a physical fenced area not a dog yard To clarify Coastal Sheltie Rescue's requirements: The space must be a permanent enclosed area, such as a patio or small yard, that is fully fenced and closed off from the outside. Temporary structures or gates will not be accepted. We are looking for a permanent structure that ensures the safety of the dog and provides a private area for them to go potty. If your home does not already have this type of fully enclosed space, we will not be able to approve your application. Please note that we do not accept applications based on promises of pending yard installations or temporary fixes.

Story
He’s very sweet, but nervous about everything. He likes to stay home with his owner, other people and odd objects on walks make him nervous, but he is small and easy to manage. Although he is nervous, he is not destructive. He stays home just fine on his own. He does mark, so using male wraps until he acknowledges his new home as his is recommended. Very sweet, loving pup who loves to cuddle at night, and is easy to manage. He is not yippy or noisy.

Story
Mickey is appropriately 7-8 years old Yorkie. A few months ago, he was unfortunately hit by a car, and the owners relinquished him to animal control in hopes he would find a rescue that would provide him with the necessary medical care he needed to recover. After a massive surgery by a specialized surgeon, his pelvic area was pieced back together. His foster mom took the best care of him during this time and has done amazing work with him to help rehabilitate.  Mickey craves attention like any Yorkie. He loves sharing a favorite chair or sofa and snuggles. He is great with people, but he isn’t kid tested. Because he is still unsteady on his feet and will be healing and strengthening for a while, homes need to not have young children or rambunctious dogs, because he could easily be trampled and injured. Short walks and an easy, cozy life is what this pup needs for his future. He loves toys and to play tug. Mickey is sensitive to unknown sounds and will bark at them. Unknown sounds could be a whistling teapot, sandhill cranes, gun shots (he is being fostered in the country), etc. He has a big voice for such a small fellow, so no attached style living for him. Mickey gets along well with other small dogs, playing with them, sharing his bed and their companionship. Cats are not a good fit for Mickey's future home, because he is quite persistent and annoying to them, and even a swat doesn’t deter him.  Mickey is fostered in Myakka City, FL, and his fee is $350. He's fully vetted and ready to go.  No airplane trips for this guy, he must go home by way of riding.    Emails generated from Adopt a Pet or Petfinder will NOT be returned. If you visit our website and the dog is marked "available," that means it is available and we are accepting applications. Please read the dog's bio (below) in its entirety before asking questions. If interested, please visit our website and read our adoption policies and complete an application:  www.nakedkissesdogrescue.org/adoption If you do not find the answer to your question(s) on our website, please feel free to email us at nakedkissesdogrescue@gmail.com. Story
Meet Stanley – Your Tiny, Spunky Sidekick! 🐾 Looking for a little dog with a BIG personality? Meet Stanley, an adorable 8-year-old, 4-pound Yorkshire Terrier with a heart full of sass and sweetness. This pint-sized gentleman has a lot of love to give and is ready to start his next chapter in a cozy, loving home. Stanley just had a fresh dental (he's feeling fabulous now—even with a few less teeth!) and is currently managing early kidney disease. Not to worry—he’s doing well and just needs to stay on a prescription kidney diet to keep him feeling his best. He's a trooper with a routine and takes everything in stride, especially if there are treats or snuggles involved. In addition, Stanley has a small perianal hernia that our vet says does not require surgical repair—just a little something to be aware of as part of his unique charm. Don't let his size fool you—Stanley is full of spunk! He loves being close to his people, going for short strolls, and settling in for a nap in a warm lap or sunny spot. He gets along with other calm, respectful pets and would thrive in a quieter home where he can be spoiled like the little prince he is. Since he was neutered not long ago, he is still working on house training, but is making great improvements. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you smiling and bring a ton of personality to your life, Stanley is your guy. Ready to meet your tiny best friend? Apply to adopt Stanley today!
