But what really makes this beautiful girl stand out isn't her looks — it's her wonderfully calm, gentle personality.Lakota has spent the past several months in foster care while completing treatment for heartworm, giving us a chance to learn what she's really like in a home. Her foster describes her as a “sweet, gentle giant” who is always ready with a friendly tail wag and a kiss. She's calm and quiet, affectionate with her people and, despite that impressive Akita exterior, basically one big teddy bear. Lakota is extremely well house trained and has excellent manners in the home. She enjoys walks around the block and is perfectly content to stop and simply watch the world go by. She's good with children and has the kind of steady, easygoing presence that makes her a lovely companion. Lakota does need to be the only dog in her home. Due to competing life priorities, her current owners heart-wrenchingly cannot give her the time and attention she truly deserves. Kyoshi is 100% house-trained with excellent manners, enjoying full free roam of the home. She dislikes the crate (and is vocal about it!), but she doesn't need one! The Details: Energy: Low-medium. Needs two 15–30 min walks daily, but a fenced yard to zoom in is her dream. Smart Cookie: Knows Sit, Stay, Paw, and Down. She automatically sits for treats/walks and has good leash manners. Other Pets: Wants to be your center of attention! Dog-selective, so she must be an only pet. Kids: Loves them (and dropped snacks!), but she's a clumsy "bull in a china shop" who might bump toddlers, so sturdy kids are best. Kyoshi is a loyal, clever soul ready to fill your home with love.

Dakota is a handsome name, kind of a "rugged" kind of name, right?? I am kind of a REFINED RUGGED kind of boy! NOT!! I am a snuggle bug looking for tummy scratches....I willl MELT for one!! Here is what one of our amazing fosters have to say about Dakota...."Super freaking sweet, loves loves belly rubs, is very strong when you walk him but listens well. VERY treat motivated and knows sit down paw and i just taught him roll over yesterday but its a work in progress 😝. Super playful, he will pounce around you and then roll over for belly rubs and absolutely melts for the belly rubs and kisses" I love playing and running with my doggy friends, however, I can lay at your feet very sweetly to beg for your attention. I am kind of like a "reverse" planter as well. I mean, you plant it and i will un-plant it for you :D I won't do it often, just when I want your attention and I am outside alone. So see?? you have great control over that urge! So I am a food and toy lover too, I eat out of a slow feeder bowl because wolfing down my food is not an option! I am learning all things toys and am actually learning how to bring the ball BACK after you throw it. I am a smart and very sweet boy. I do absolutely have a prey drive so no kitties for small furry mammals around me please. I am fully potty trained and great in a crate. Now i just need you to adopt me to complete my circle of life. Now, before you go all "Lion King" on me, just know that I will be your bestest buddy forever!!
