He will require a dog savvy person or someone committed to following through with training and providing lots of exercise. Bear is looking for a home with a fenced in yard not an underground fence but a physical one. Bear can be protective of his toys and food, but only with other dogs. Story
She is a beautiful 12-week-old golden-tan puppy with a soft, fluffy coat and the sweetest brown eyes. Her warm honey coloring with slightly darker shading on her head makes her truly stand out. She is affectionate, gentle, and very people-oriented — she loves sitting close, watching you, and being included in whatever you’re doing. Like any young puppy, she’s curious, playful, and still learning about the world around her. I’m looking for a loving and stable home that has the time, patience, and commitment to continue her training and give her the attention she deserves. She would thrive with someone who can provide consistency, daily playtime, and companionship. In the right home, she has so much potential to grow into a loyal, kind, and devoted lifelong companion.

Story
Meet this handsome guy! This 6-year-old neutered male Akita is a big love with an even bigger heart. One of his favorite things? Giving hugs — he’s affectionate, loyal, and enjoys being close to his people. He walks well on a leash and carries himself with the calm confidence Akitas are known for. True to his breed, he is not your typical first-time dog owner dog and would do best with someone who understands (or is eager to learn about) the Akita personality and appreciates a strong, independent companion. If you’re looking for a devoted, dignified dog who bonds deeply and shows his love in the sweetest ways, this guy may be your perfect match. If you are interested in meeting Domino, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12p & 2p-5:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p.If you do not own your home, bring consent from the property owner to have a dog on the property. As always, if you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption. Adoption fees: 6m and younger $250, 7m-5y $200, 6y-10y $150, 11y and older $100. Story
Meet Theresa, a beautiful 3-year-old Akita with a quiet elegance and a gentle heart. She came to us as a stray, and while her past is a bit of a mystery, her personality is slowly shining through. Theresa is friendly and affectionate with people she knows and trusts. New situations can be a little overwhelming for her—she can be nervous around loud noises and is still learning to feel comfortable walking on a leash. With patience, consistency, and reassurance, she continues to make progress every day. Because of her sensitive nature, Theresa would do best in a calm home with someone who has Akita experience and understands the value of going at her pace. Given time to settle in and feel secure, she has the potential to be a deeply loyal and loving companion. If you’re looking for a graceful soul who just needs patience and understanding to truly blossom, Theresa may be the perfect match. Theresa has currently came back from a foster home and has been with a dog and horses and has done well. She is housebroken and loves children. If you are interested in meeting Theresa, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12:30p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12:30p & 2p-6:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p. Adoption application can be filled out and approved during your meet-and-greet. If you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption!

Story
Current Location: Sykesville, MD Meet Jade: The Tri-pod Beauty Who's All Fluffy Fun and Big Hugs! Jade is a stunning tri-pod girl with gorgeous fluffy fur and a personality that's pure joy! Don't let her missing leg fool you—this beautiful girl gets around like a champ and lives life at full speed with style and confidence. Playful Energy and Cozy Vibes Jade has that perfect medium energy balance. She'll play with other dogs for hours, romping and wrestling like there's no tomorrow. But when playtime's done? She's just as happy chewing on a bone or lounging around the house like the fluffy queen she is. She takes social cues from her canine friends, making her a great companion for homes with other dogs. Kid-Friendly Sweetheart Jade has done wonderfully with smaller kids! She's gentle, even when taking treats from their hands, showing her sweet and patient nature. She's the kind of dog who brings love and fun to a family environment. The Fun Stuff (and the "We're Working on It" Stuff) Jade LOVES food. Like, really loves it. She's working on her counter surfing skills and her fosters are showing her the all (three) paws on the ground rule. She also has a charming habit of standing up to give you the biggest hugs, which we're gently redirecting because not everyone can handle that level of affection! Besides her enthusiasm for snacks and the occasional cardboard shredding session (hey, everyone needs a hobby!), Jade has been a model houseguest. No accidents, no destruction, just pure, fluffy goodness. Outdoor Adventurer Jade has had zero potty accidents! She always goes to the back door and whines when nature calls. She walks beautifully on a leash and absolutely LOVES being outside in the cold. That fluffy coat was made for winter adventures, and she is here for every snowflake and chilly breeze! The Crate Situation Let's be honest: Jade is NOT a fan of the crate. She'll go in for meals like a good girl, but after that? She's DONE. Barking, whining - the whole performance. She'd do best in a home where crating isn't necessary or where her people are committed to making it a gradual, positive experience. Best Home Fit Jade would absolutely thrive in an active home with another playful dog to be her wrestling buddy, a fenced yard for outdoor fun, and a family ready to laugh at her antics while helping her polish her manners. She's great with kids, loves adventure, and is ready to bring endless entertainment and affection to the right home! If you're looking for a fluffy, fun, tri-pod superstar who will play hard, snuggle harder, and steal your heart (and maybe a sandwich if you're not careful), Jade is your girl! Apply today!
