You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My name is Neko.  I am young and playful.  My human family is super busy and they just aren't home enough to give me the love I deserve but they want me to find a great home with people who will have time to give me all the attention and exercise I need.I enjoy morning conversations I mean well of course I am a husky!!!  I give great kisses.  I would LOVE lots of fun time and again 'i'm a husky' :)If you are looking for a couch potatoe I am not your guy.  If you don't like to give good brushings and you don't like dog hair well what can I say 'i'm a husky'!I'm super adorable even if I say so myself.  So if you want to see if we are compatible fill out an application and maybe we will get together for a play date :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!July 23, 2024, 8:06 pm

Story
Hello, my name is Bernard and let me tell you my tale. I'm a rambunctious Siberian husky that found my way to the shelter as a stray - as you know, my breed enjoys a good romp and wander but I was never reclaimed. While the shelter doesn't know my background, they suspect I might've been an outside boy because I don't have the best manners and I don't always know to do my business outside. I am a smart cookie though and I am working on it.I need work on crate-training and while I am sometimes good when left alone, I also (as is normal for my breed) like to get into mischief when I'm alone. Hey, I get bored so I like to sing and chew things, I just don't always know what's mine or yours.I am good with other dogs and may even prefer to have a friend to keep me company and show me the ropes on house dog life. We don't know how I am with cats, but if we keep generalizing, my breed usually doesn't do well. I am a bouncy boy and love people, maybe too much because I have a history of playing a little too rough with people. I forget that I'm a big boy with teeth and peoples aren't dogs. I am requiring my future people be 15 and older as well as experienced with huskies or big mouthy guys like me so I can continue working on myself and being the bestest husky around. Do you have room in your home for a pup like me? If the answer is yes then come down to the shelter and lets meet!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org
