Story
Meet Pugsley! Pugsley is a 2-year-old bulldog/terrier mix bursting with charm, goofy energy, and an endless capacity for love. He’s the perfect match for an active family looking for a fun-loving, kid-friendly companion who thrives on adventure and connection. Pugsley is the ideal blend of playful enthusiasm and affectionate sweetness. He loves to run, play, and explore—whether he’s romping in the yard, joining you for long walks, or splashing in the water, one of his all-time favorite activities. He walks beautifully on a leash and brings enthusiasm to every outing, making him a wonderful walking or hiking buddy. At home, Pugsley is a delightful goofball. He’ll do an “alligator chomp” in the air to get your attention, spook himself with a trash bag blowing across the yard, or curl up next to you in the funniest positions. He is good with dogs of all sizes and enjoys having canine companions to play and relax with. Pugsley is incredibly loving and people-oriented. He’s fantastic with kids of all ages and quickly becomes a family favorite. He crates easily when no one is home and does best in a household with a yard and, ideally, another dog buddy. He would love to have a family that is home alot if he is the only dog. He is also cat friendly but may try to play with them. Pugsley is currently being fostered in a home in Seguin, TX. He gets anxious with car rides so he is available in Texas only. He loves sleeping in a bed with his family and sleeps soundly through the night. His quirks—like sleeping with his tongue sticking out and snoring softly—only make him more endearing. If you're seeking a joyful, affectionate, water-loving dog with tons of personality, Pugsley is ready to win your heart. To see more pictures and videos, copy and paste this link. Story
2025’s Beefcake of the Year Award goes to… Chance! Here is your Chance! Your chance at the ultimate beefcake. Get a good look at him here then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/06qGfTY8-2s And for good reason, he truly has one of the cutest beefcake faces with an all-star smile. He is more than his good looks though, he is your classic bully boy- chill and playful, with aspirations for snugged-up lap-dog life. Take a look at him in action then come back to read more! Chance is estimated to be right around 2.5 years old and he weighs 62 lbs. Age and breed are details we cannot guarantee given he is a rescue but everything from his looks to his personality lead us to believe he is an American bully mix of some sort. Chance is fostered in a loving home and his foster shared that he is fully house and crate trained. We love that! Sure he isn’t your typical “lapdog” size but he knows that so he approaches snuggles gently and carefully, you will never see him come barreling in for love. Honestly, he is so respectful he often will wait until you make the first move before coming in close. His signature move though is what we call the love lean, if you are standing or even sitting really, he will lean his weight into you, in such a quiet, loving way. He wants to be touching without interrupting you or being too demanding. We love it, it feels like a hug. The ideal home for Chance would be a home with a yard and he would make a wonderful +1 for an easygoing dog similar to himself. A condo/townhome is a possibility, he doesn’t need a yard as long as he is getting regular walks for his physical health and chances to socialize for his mental health. He isn’t the bouncy playful type but enjoys the company of other, equally chill dogs, though I have been impressed with how he handles high energy, wild dogs. When the high-energy dogs get to playing a little wild, he just takes himself to the side and checks in with his person. He doesn't want to stop them or be involved, we love an unbothered big boy! Just the same as his potential to be a +1, he is totally game to be the center of attention as your one-and-only fur-baby. Without another dog, chances are he will get a steady stream of new toys and he is going to love that! His love of toys is adorable and he can easily entertain himself, a wonderful quality! Most recently, he showed us again just how much he loves toys and he had a blast playing with a group of people, showing off his fetch. An apartment with shared walls isn’t best as he can use his voice on occasion and we don’t want any noise complaints on account of this lover boy. No kitties for Chance though, he was introduced to our house cat and he was very interested in meeting him in a way that we recognize as the overly eager curiosity that leads to chasing and chasing leads to chaos and an unhappy cat. As for kids, he’d do best in a home with older ones (10+) he’s a solid boy and could accidentally knock over a little one. When he met a very wiggly and giggly four year old he was happy to get love from him and was so patient and unbothered by his yelling and little kicks on his belly while they were snuggled up. So all ages of guests and visitors are welcome with Chance. This boy is fostered in a home with a single woman and she praises the comforting presence he gives her. Not only the love and snuggles, but when on a walk or while she sits at the charging station for her electric vehicle, his size and looks alone have a major bodyguard effect. That is something we can only see as a positive! Knight in shining armor or polar bear buddy, he is a fun, confident dog with a million dollar smile. Questions about Chance or the adoption process? We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Story
Small in name, big on presence, that is Guppy! This boy is an attention-getter- the squishy face and connection seeking eyes can convince anyone to give him a little love or a free-treat. His favorite things, in no particular order, Guppy loves- kisses, booty scratches, sharing treats with his new girlfriend, and apples. Yes, apples! Maybe not that surprising but what makes it especially fun is the chompy-chomp sound it makes when he chews them, if you have ever fed a horse an apple or an apple slice, you know the sound- it is so good! We all agree, our favorite thing about Guppy is his tippy-tappy dance, reserved for his favorite people. Imagine that big beefcake greeting you at the door doing his little dance! My heart! Guppy recently went for a doggy day out with his favorite volunteers. He went to the park and played on the jungle gym, and he even went down the slide! Of course life with guppy is the best life, he will slide into any adventure with you if you’ll let him. He even got to go for not one, but TWO pup cups after. What can we say, a guy like him deserves it. Watch his fun day here and be prepared to fall totally head over heels for him. https://youtu.be/ZFyjga0j6bI?si=REOq6IpUM9h3C2eN Guppy is estimated to be 5 years old and is likely an American bulldog/Pittie mix. Of course, given Guppy is a rescue, we cannot guarantee breed or age. He currently weighs 63 lbs and has a few pounds to gain so we expect him to top out around 65-70 lbs. Another one of our favorite things about Guppy, is how great he is with kids!! He has spent a lot of time with our Director of Behavior and Intakes son and she is constantly impressed by his patience, tolerance, and over relaxed nature around her 4 year old son. Yes he is relaxed in nature around her son but he knows how to be a fun silly guy as well. Kobe loves to toss around the toys for a little game of fetch and there's Guppy just hanging out watching the action and occasionally joining in as well. He was not bothered but us rolling around on the floor with him, running around like little minions, and wasn't phased by her son jumping on and off the couch too. Another thing that we were super impressed by was Guppy's patience and impulse control with her son's fruit bar especially since he loves his snacky snacks. Guppy would sit right next to him patiently watching, hoping for a little morsel to be dropped on the floor. There was even a time when some was dropped on the floor and her son went to go pick it up and Guppy did not go zooming over to it to gobble it up. He knew it was her son's snack and not his and when it is a snack for Guppy, he was very gentle when taking treats from him and was not pushy or overbearing. He also really enjoyed licking the cheese off of her son's fingers. He's a great pup to have around to help with the after dinner clean ups. We have introduced Guppy to a variety of dogs to gauge his play style and who he gravitates to naturally. It has been easy to see that he shines brightest when he is with the ladies. You can say he is a little bit of a ladies man with the furry type and also the human type LOL. His “type” continues to be the calmer, lower-energy females. Not to say that Guppy doesn't like to play, he does but his definition of play is few and short in between and he's gotta really be feeling it. His play consists of a few seconds of romping around, maybe a few gentle body bumps here and there, then that's it. That's Guppy's play style. He does have a girlfriend, well a few actually, but his number one girlfriend is a wiggly senior female who has the same love of treats and laying around. The two of them together is just about the cutest and he really showed us he is quite the gentleman. If they were being offered treats, he always let her have one first, never once getting pushy. If looking to match-make your current dog in your home, Guppy would be a great companion for a female that matches his chill, low-energy approach to play and life. Guppy is also gentleman in his crate- he has not made a mess once in his crate. As for other pets, a no-cats or small animals home is needed. Whether its chickens or cats or similar- Guppy wants to chase and given his size that is an avoidable bit of chaos. On walks, Guppy’s excitement to be out and about greeting the people and seeing the sights, can lead to him pulling, so he is actively practicing leash training and making great progress everyday. The truth is though, this boy isn’t the outdoor adventure type, his interest in being outside is limited to backyard potty breaks, after that he is headed back inside to that cozy spot by your feet. He is happy to go out in the back yard for a potty break and then back to that spot by your feet or in his cozy bed. If you really want him to be a true 'couch potato” you may have to offer him a few of the good treats and even then he is going to let you hear a tiny bit of sass back. Its a cute little chatter that makes us all laugh. You will see a moment of it in his intro-video. His treat-motivated focus makes him a great candidate for continued teaching and training whether its just for fun or to polish him up to be a model best-boy but he comes with the basic- a great sit and a good recall. Another time Guppy uses his voice is to say hi from a distance when he sees someone he likes or wants to meet, it isn’t excessive but it does make him better suited for house living rather than an apartment. At the rescue when Guppy is hanging out in the living room he doesn’t use his voice to greet people though, he just hops up and comes right over, whether he knows you or its your first time passing through. From painters to volunteers, everyone got a Guppy Greeting! Guppy is ready to find his forever home, where his low-maintenance personality and goofy nature will be cherished and his booty regularly scratched. If you’re looking for a hang-out all day, full of love, companion who will keep you smiling, Guppy could be the one for you. Story
Lola is a sweet, loyal 3–4 year old American Bulldog who weighs 55 lbs and is fully grown. She’s the definition of a gentle soul. She is calm, affectionate, and happiest when she’s simply spending time with the people she loves. Lola is a laid-back couch potato who would love nothing more than to lounge beside you during a movie marathon, nap at your feet while you work, or stretch out in a sunny spot for an afternoon snooze. Though she enjoys her relaxation time, Lola also has a playful side. She loves playing fetch with her balls, soaking up warmth on sunny days, and watching squirrels run through the trees as if she’s catching up on her favorite nature show. She’s wonderful at entertaining herself and is incredibly easy to live with. If you work from home, she’s the perfect companion. She's content to snooze, chew on a bone, or entertain herself with her toys while you focus, but always ready to give you a soft nuzzle or wagging tail during breaks. Lola is a true sweetheart with new people she meets and is very polite during introductions. She will sit there patiently, just quietly watching with hope and curiosity until you invite her over for pets and snuggles. She is a major lover of food, so just share some yummy treats with her and you will forever be her best friend. She takes treats with the gentlest, softest bulldog lips and has a way of looking at you with those big, soulful eyes that makes you feel instantly loved. She loves being with her people and will follow you from room to room like a big, loyal bulldog shadow. She is truly the type of dog that just blends seamlessly into whatever environment she is in and is always happy just being in her human's presence, no matter what you're doing. If you want to have a lazy movie day and cuddle on the couch, she's up for it. If you want to go on a fun outdoor adventure, she's up for that too. Lola is ready to bring unconditional love, steady companionship, and a peaceful, comforting presence to the lucky family who chooses her. She has so much love to give and she’s just waiting for her forever people to give it to. Lola is low to medium energy, so she has short bursts of energy that can be easily burned with play sessions outside in the backyard or leisurely walks around the neighborhood. She loves it when her humans are involved in her outdoor activities, whether it is tossing her favorite balls for a game of fetch or engaging in training activities with her favorite treats. She enjoys a nice balance of playtime and relaxation, and loves to cuddle up on the couch for cuddles and naps after each play session. She gets her energy out by running around the yard and being silly as she plays with her doggy friends. While she enjoys playing with her doggy friends, she’s also perfectly content to entertain herself with her favorite toys when she can't find another pup to play with. Her favorite activities involve engaging in mental stimulation games with her humans. Hide a treat is her favorite and loves to play with doggy puzzles that she can work at to get her favorite treats out. When she is in her forever home, she would love to go on casual neighborhood walks and explore nature trails on longer hikes. Her ideal home will have a toy box full of squeaky toys, tennis balls, and chew toys, and she’d be thrilled to have a BarkBox subscription to keep the fun going with new surprises every month. Lola is dog friendly and kid friendly. She loves to play and cuddle with the resident dogs in her foster home. She is currently in a foster home with both large and small dogs that range in age from young adult to senior. She does well with them all, and is respectful of their personal space and understands when they are ready for nap time. When she's in a playful mood, but knows they don't want to play with her, she will find a toy to keep herself entertained with or curl up on the couch to nap instead. She does best with low energy, laid back dogs and does need to do slow intros with new dogs she meets only because she's the type of dog that just wants to coexist around other dogs at first. Once she's comfortable and knows that new dog isn't going to be mean to her, she lets her guard down and will start playing with them. She is avoidant when it comes to conflict with other dogs and if another dog is reactive towards her, she will try her best to avoid them and just walk away. She would do perfectly fine being the only dog in the home, but she really loves her current doggy friends and would love to have a laid back dog in her forever home to play and cuddle with. Lola has done well with kids she has met, but because of her big bulldog wiggle butt, it is recommended no babies or toddlers that she may knock over if she gets excited and her big tail starts wagging hard. She loves to play fetch and share her sweet puppy kisses, and is very gentle when she asks for affection. She would do great with a family with older kids who want a cuddly, loving pup to play and snuggle with. She has not been introduced to cats, so it is recommended there be no kitties in the home to be on the safe side, unless you can do very slow intros and can keep them separated if needed. Lola is kennel trained, potty trained, and leash trained. She sleeps in a kennel at night with no fuss and just likes to be tucked into bed with a yummy treat to work on until she falls asleep. She would really love to sleep in bed with her humans in her forever home, or even on a dog bed near their bed so she can be close to them while she sleeps. She is fully potty trained and will not have an accident in the house. She is great with routines and schedules, and adjusts her potty breaks based on her fosters' schedules. She does sleep through the night without needing to go outside, so don't worry - she won't wake you up in the middle of the night for a potty break. When it comes to walking on a leash, she is a bulldog and is very strong, so she can pull initially if she has lots of pent up energy. Her fosters are working on loose leash training methods for walks and are making progress, but she still needs more practice. For this reason, it is recommended that she lives in a lower traffic area or suburban neighborhood where she can have more space on sidewalks to continue practicing. However, if she lives in a high traffic area, an experienced adopter would be able to continue working with her. She is very treat motivated and trainable, but needs her adopter to also be motivated to continue practicing with her. Lola's ideal home would be with a bulldog savvy adopter in a house with a fenced in backyard for her to run around and play in. She would not do well in an apartment, townhouse, or condo because she really enjoys spending time lounging in the backyard sunbathing and playing fetch. She would love if her human works from home or has a hybrid schedule because she really loves being with her humans, but would do perfectly fine if her human works out of the home as long as she gets some cuddles and playtime in before you head to the office. No public dog parks for this sweet girl (who wants to risk your pup catching a disease or being bullied on by other random dogs anyways), but would love to go to Sniff Spots or have occasional play dates with doggy friends. She would do love to have a family with older kids to play and cuddle with, and would do well with another laid back, lower energy dog in the home to cuddle and play with. She would also be perfectly fine being the center of attention in her forever home and being the only fur-child to her humans. If you’ve been dreaming of a devoted snuggle buddy, a gentle companion, and a loyal best friend, Lola is the perfect dog for you. Lola is in a foster home in Austin, Texas. She can be adopted and transported to the following cities/states: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/transport-locations This is a courtesy post for LAPP Dog Rescue. If you are interested in adopting Lola, please fill out an application at: https://www.loveandpuppypawsdogrescue.com/adoption-application. TRANSPORT: Currently we have monthly transports. It will be up to the adoptive family to meet the transport to pick up your new family member. Please be advised that our dogs are adopted to their forever families prior to being transported. Unfortunately at this time, we cannot bring dogs for a typical meet and greet situation, due to the extensiveness of the transport distance and it being unfair for the dogs who are not adopted to have to make the trip back. Please be advised that applications are reviewed in the order that they are received. To ensure we are honoring the dogs that we have committed to helping, we do have policies and procedures in place that we follow when reviewing adoption applications. LAPP Dog Rescue is ran 100% by volunteers, so please be mindful that when you submit an application that it can take a few days to be reviewed. Submitting an application is not a confirmation that the adoption will be approved/completed. Before submitting the application, please read the FULL description on PetFinder describing the dog's personality, energy level, housing requirements and our policy on meet and greets. The cost to adopt is $530 - $550, depending on where she is transported to. The cost to adopt includes a $300 adoption fee and a $230 - $250 transport fee (it will be $250 for transport to the PNW and $230 for other states not in the PNW). The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations, spay procedure, microchip, flea/heartworm prevention, health certificate from a licensed veterinarian, plus any necessary vet care while in the rescue's care. Story
Lizzie is known for her joyful “happy hops” like a little bunny. She bounces when she’s excited to see her people and it’s the cutest thing. She’s affectionate, silly, and deeply devoted once she bonds. At home, she’s an absolute dream: fully housebroken, trustworthy when left alone, non-destructive, and content to snooze most of the day. She happily free roams, sleeps through the night, and will curl up in bed with you if invited (she firmly believes she’s a lap dog). We believe Lizzie is an American Bully mix, of course, with rescue, that’s just our best guess! At 5 years old, and weighing in at 80 lbs, this gal is nothing but easy going, the queen of naps, and some would even say closely resembles a baby cow. She’s a smart cookie too! Lizzie knows sit, shake, and is highly food-motivated, making learning easy and fun. She takes treats gently and has done beautifully with respectful, steady kids, especially older children who are comfortable around big dogs. Her cuddle game is top-tier, whether it’s couch time, computer work, or relaxing after a long day. Lizzie just wants to be where her person is. Lizzie enjoys quiet adventures like the beach, Home Depot trips, and farmers markets. She’s happiest when she can take it all in at her own pace, especially when people give her a little personal space. At home, she’s incredibly easygoing. Lizzie loves warm bubble baths, prefers dry paws (wet grass is not her favorite!), and is polite around food. She’s learned that meals and treats are always coming, and her foster reports she’s made wonderful progress with sharing space peacefully. She coexists beautifully with cats, puppies, horses, tortoises, and even mini cows, often completely uninterested. Really, she’s simply happy to hang out near her person. Lizzie bonds deeply and tends to choose “her person,” thriving best with someone who enjoys a close, companion-style relationship. She does best in a calm, predictable home where she can feel safe, understood, and gently guided. She is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs in her foster home. From puppies to even large great danes. Lizzie loves to play and plays like she’s a contender in wrestle mania. She is bouncy, uses her whole body, and likes to talk about it all while keeping things fun and lighthearted. She’s just a big gal and with that comes bigger play styles. No need to worry about your home being a 24/7 doggy day care, not even close. Play time doesn’t last long with Lizzie, it’s very short lived LOL and then she’s ready for the biggest cat nap. She would also be completely content being the only dog and the center of your world. It’s her favorite place to be anyways. She’s crate trained, comfortable being crated when needed, and often chooses her crate on her own for naps. She sleeps a lot (about 21 hours a day!) and has one short burst of zoomies daily, that’s her idea of exercise. A big yard isn’t necessary; Lizzie is low-energy and content with companionship over activity. Above all, Lizzie is a loyal, affectionate soul who wants nothing more than to share life quietly with her person. Whether that’s during a bubble bath, while you work on your laptop, or as she naps nearby soaking up the warmth. She’s the definition of a companion dog: steady, loving, and endlessly comforting. We are willing to test Lizzie with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a lovable, goofy, sunbathing, ride-or-die girl into your life? Lizzie's waiting with a heart full of love and the best happy hops you've ever seen.
