Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.9/28/23  Zelda Wow! Is she a stunner, or what? Peep those before photos. That was her the day she came into rescue, just 5 1/2 weeks ago. And the other photos are her beautiful self now. Talk about a glow up! Zelda is a young, maybe 6 mo old, American Bully who currently weighs about 30 lbs. She is an energetic, friendly gal, who enjoys the company of other playful dogs, and is excellent with cats. She is a tiny bit shy when meeting new people, but a little baby talk and treats go a long way in earning her trust. She is fine within a few minutes of meeting new people. As you can see, Zelda hasn't had an easy life before rescue. She was found in a deserted area. No homes for miles. She was lying in a field near the road when one of our volunteers spotted her. In addition to having a severe case of mange, she had recently had her ears cropped. It appears that it was a home crop job, and she still had fishing line 'sutures' that we had to remove. We can't imagine the pain that she endured by whoever was supposed to be protecting and loving her. It is heart breaking to think of any dog suffering like she must have, but we are just thankful that she is safe and happy now, and will never be mistreated again. Zelda has now been spayed and brought up to date on all routine vetting, and she is ready for a home of her own. Her ideal home would be with someone who will enjoy the bonding afforded by one on one training. She is a very good girl, but she needs some manners, and like all bully breeds that I've ever come across, she is smart as a whip and wants to please. She just needs a little direction. The bonding that comes with training is irreplaceable. Being a bully breed, she really needs someone to give her plenty of exercise and stimulation. This is not a dog that should be allowed to get bored. Stimulation -both physical and mental- will be as important to her well being as food. She will be the most loving and loyal best friend anyone could ever want. We would prefer a home with older children, I would say 8 yrs and up would be fine, only because she is so energetic and could easily knock down a little one and unintentionally hurt them. She wouldn't purposely hurt anyone, but we want to set her up for success by making sure everyone in the home can participate in her training. A home with or without other dogs and/or cats would be fine. If she is to be an only dog, she will need to stay socialized with other dogs. This could be in the form of structured play time with friends/family dogs, doggy day care, regular dog walks with other dogs, etc. We really want to see Zelda find the perfect family for her, who will help her become the best version of herself! Story
Meet Cream Cheese!  She is a 6 month old  Female American Bulldog Mix.  She is a typical puppy which means she loves to play and chew but she is easily trained and responds to direction.  She is now able to walk on the leash and sit with you quietly on the couch.   She loves to play with dogs. Great with people and has learned about the good life in 5 short days! Happily being fostered by a loving family with other dogs. She'll be fine with cats.  Ask for her Video! Speak to her Foster Mommy!October 1, 2023, 1:42 pm

Story
Smokey Joe and Chipper are siblings. Such precious 19 week old pups as of Oct 26th! He is so affectionate, plays great with other dogs, funny and athletic and crate trained. Will be working on leash training and manners. He loves to get in your lap and give kisses. Probably best with older children due to strength but super trainable. Smokey Joe Is spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, treated for all of the intestinal parasites, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. Because intestinal parasites are cyclical, your puppy may need additional treatment once you get him/her home. This is common and nothing to be alarmed about. Puppies and dogs need to be treated periodically for parasites throughout their entire lives. The adoption fee is $550 if your adoption is prepaid prior to your pup's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on puppies that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368. WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you! More and more of our adopters are having fun with DNA tests on their pups. You might ask yourself why our breed guess is varying degrees of difference from the DNA tests. Most of our puppies are rescued from high kill shelters or other abandonment situations and we have no info on parents. When we rescue puppies that have no background info, we make our very best educated guess as to breed mix and age. Our guesstimate comes from years and years and years of animal welfare work and training, but our guesses won't always agree with your vet, your neighbor, your DNA test, etc. The most important thing to know about your puppy's breed mix is that most likely he/she is a Super Lovable Mutt made of many many many different breeds. If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at the Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05. TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get an automatically generated confirmation email. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back. After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

Story
68 pounds 4-5 years old He loves people and my grandkids love him.  He is a big strong boy but is a pussy cat.  Tidus and our dog,  Andie were out in the yard and he really doesn’t pay much attention to other dogs.  Sniffs but then goes his own way.  He walks pretty well on a leash.  when he gets excited (when it is time to eat or treat time – he doesn’t always pay attention to where he is stepping and will definitely step on your feet – ).  We are trying to make him sit when he gets excited but this will take more work.  He will definitely let you know when he has to go out, when it is feeding time and when he thinks it is time for a treat.  Has a big bark so needs a home and a big yard. He is the boy that does not like to ride in the car.  Big Dog Experience helps with a dog like Titus.  He does know sit, comes when you call him and is a big lush but Tidus does not know his strength.  Would not hurt anyone intentionally so no small children please.October 1, 2023, 1:42 pm
