Story
Meet Ryan! He is already neutered and READY TO GO HOME!!!This handsome two year old is looking for his forever home. Ryan is a big, strong boy and enjoys walks outside, especially if there are birds, squirrels, cats, or rabbits to spot (make sure to walk him with a harness because he will spot them before you do and try to chase them - hold that leash!). He's crate trained (just throw a few treats in there and he'll easily go in) and won't potty in his crate. Ryan adores playing with toys and chewing on bones, but treats are the best things EVER! If you're someone with a fenced in yard or accustomed to walking bigger dogs and are looking for a loyal companion, Ryan could be your perfect match!During a playgroup session, Ryan was quite confident playing with female and male dogs. As always, slow introductions are always recommended to ensure successful cohabitation. His best match would likely be a confident, tolerant female dog.He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already neutered. If you have dogs, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to his previous foster mom at rachel.petranka@gmail.com Primary Color: Blonde Weight: 55 Age: 2yrs 5mths 0wks

Story
Woof Woof Hi! My name is Briggs! I am just a ray of sunshine looking for my forever family to shine on. I may look mature but I’m only 5 years young! I would do best in a feline free home, but I have been able to be friendly with dogs of all sizes! I love a good butt scratch and belly rub while laying out in the grass. I’ve also been super fond of yummy meaty treats over biscuit treats and given the option, who wouldn`t? 13/10 would love to spend the rest of my life with you. I am full grown at ~51 lbs. How did I get here? Transferred from Harnett County Animal Shelter where I came in as a stray. ~My adoption fee is $120.00.~

Story
There's two phrases that fit this situation: Good things come to those who wait; and good things come in small packages. At 40lbs, she may not seem small to some, but in a home where the average dog weight is 75-80lbs, she's the little bitty one!  Have you been waiting for an adorable girl with the cutest underbite ever?  Well wait no more!  This little girl, official name Sugar, but affectionately called Ma'amins by her foster mom, is ready to find her forever this time.  She was originally a shelter stray, so there's no information about her background or previous life. Everything we know we've learned while she's been in a foster home.  She currently lives with two large neutered male dogs, but she also had a large spayed female foster sister for a couple months until she got adopted.  She challenged the female, who had no issue putting her in her place a few times. Then they were best friends. But her future friends may be a better fit if they're male. Sugar likes to wrestle. Despite being more than half the size of her opponents!  She gets the zoomies at night, racing around the house, trying to engage her brothers in play.  Her teeth are ground down in the front. No idea how or when it happened.  This is mentioned because she likes to play using her mouth at times. And it doesn't hurt because 1. She doesn't put much pressure behind it, and 2. She basically just gums you.  She likes to lick and give smooches as well. Yes, she's very kissy!  She's not very snuggly, however. Choosing to be more like a cat in that she'll hang out next to you, but usually not on you. If she gets in your lap, she usually wants something lol, so it doesn't last long.  And when she wants something, there's no concept of personal space. Ha!  House training has been a bit challenging, but we've worked out a good system. She can last about 5 hours. But she's also pee pads trained (helpful that her foster brother is a senior who needs a little help in that department as well). She isn't crated during the day, preferring to sleep on the couch. She has a few minor "issues" when it comes to crates/feeding that are easily managed. But because of those issues, it's recommended she not be in a home with young children.  And she's on medication due to minor seizure activity.  Not the typical seizures, thankfully. But now that she's properly medicated, there's been no issues since!  She's young (approximately a year old, give or take), spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives and ready for prime time. She is a happy girl who will waggily greet you at the door when you come home every day with silly woo-woo sounds! And would do fine as an only dog as well.  Nothing is known about how she is with cats, but we're willing to meet yours if you have a dog savvy cat.  She gets a kick out of telling the neighbors to get off her lawn lol. She doesn't realize her size and interesting bark make her less than intimidating!   Needless to say, this little button is quite the character. Let us know if you'd like to meet her! Do you have the heart and home to give this girl the best for the rest? Adoption fee of $150 includes spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: https://2pawsup.org/applications/adoption-application/July 26, 2024, 1:57 am

One day this little girl was left in my back yard and I'm not able to take her in. As much a I would love to have her, my landlord won't let me and I have a baby on the way. She is a kind dog, very spoiled, she likes to talk back when you ask her to do something, even when she is asked not to do something. It's cute 😍

Story
Meet a living jewel in a compact package, WINNIE! Winnie is very much a bulldog mix, so snores and snorts are a way of life. As she also has some great Pittie genes, you will get rewarded with fabulous snuggles and chuckles with this girl around. She is content snoozing or chewing on a bone while her people are working. When it is break time, she is ALL IN! Winnie is happy being with her people both at home and on adventures like riding in the car and looking out the front window, especially if a pup-cup is in her future. She loves to play, including chewing all the bones and toys to nothingness. Winnie masks her anxiety with enthusiasm, she will need patience and time to feel 100% comfortable with you. Winnie will do best in a home with a strong routine and patience. We recommend older kids and dogs (her size, or bigger, no cats or smaller critters for this girl) in her fur-ever home with slow, supervised introductions to all things that are new to help Winnie manage her excitement levels. Once she believes you are hers all things brighten for you both. Winnie loves walk time, and this is another time when her excitement levels can peak. She has worked on her leash skills but does best with strong handlers to keep her on track even when she's excited. She has thoroughly enjoyed her visits to other homes with doggies to play with. She does best with 1-1 doggie play time to start. Winnie is a big fan of feeding time. She was rather plump when she arrived at her foster home. Her ideal family will need to be diligent in keeping her from putting that weight back on. As she is highly treat-motivated training is easy... if the treats are still there, 'doh! She is crate trained, house trained, and knows the basics plus a few other fun things. Get your own zoomies and come meet this JEWEL soon.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC      Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old.   Pluto is great with people (including kids) and most dogs. His favorite things include pets, cuddles, naps, and chew toys. He keeps himself entertained but will chase after toys and gets excited when we take him for walks or on a drive.    Pluto plays well with our other dogs, however, we have noticed that he can be possessive  over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He is quiet and will only briefly bark when we have a package or visitor. He will use the bathroom in a fenced yard or on a leash.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats. He is fine in the yard with our chickens even without supervision. We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.   Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate. He prefers to be out of his crate. He is well mannered so he is allowed to free roam even when we are not home.  He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  He is used to us being gone during that day for work. We check up on him on the dog camera and he is usually sleeping.    At night, Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep with us but snores way too loud.  Pluto is a wonderful dog who is gentle, and friendly. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He will make a great family pet.  Could you consider giving him the loving home he  deserves?  EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants should ideally live no further than one hour from Cary NC.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize adoptions.  For the perfect home for Pluto, we will considered approved applicants who live a bit further away from the Triangle area of NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? Story
Panda was found abandoned on the side of the road with his kennel.  His Foster Family has put in a lot of work with this sweet guy and he has come a long way very quickly.  Panda is a silly, goofy guy who loves to have his belly scratched.  He walks very well on lead with the gentle lead on.  His Foster Mama says that he is a very fast learner and he is food motivated.  As you can see in the videos, he goes right into his kennel when asked.   Panda is also really good at playing catch. He does enjoy other dogs but can play rough so it would be best for him to have dogs about his size to play with.  His Foster Mama states that he is on medication for his separation anxiety and that they have been working on clearing up the yeast buildup that he had on his skin when found.   Panda has been neutered and has tested negative for Heartworm and Lyme.  If you feel that you may be able to provide a fur-ever home for Panda, please complete an adoption application so that we can set up a meet and greet. ##1958602##

Story
Hi, it's me Beans. I wanted to tell you about me thru the eyes of my foster mom. Beans is a great, super sweet, well behaved dog. He is housetrained, crate trained ( sleeps well in crate at night). He knows sit, is very treat motivated (but watch those fingers he really likes food). He likes to cuddle and be with his people. He also walks well on leash. He gets along with my older female dog ( but very slow introductions with any dogs is a must to have him adjust well, him or any new dog). We do not know how he is with cats or children at this time. He is an inside dog and should not be crated all day. He is a youngster and needs lots of exercise. An ideal home would be with a stay at home person. Rides very nicely in the car. He has been neutered, up to dates on all vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm positive but please don't let heartworms deter you from taking him home, they are completely treatable and non contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center is generously providing a $400 sponsorship toward treatment. If you have any more questions about me you can email my foster mom at dogfosterkim@gmail.com Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 59 Age: 2yrs 4mths 1wks

Story
Halle has blossomed since being in foster for a couple of months. She had the unfortunate luck of being stuck in the shelter during the URI shutdown WCAC had late last year and had become quite anxious. In foster, she has had a chance to decompress and show her sweet, fun loving personality. She is a beautiful, curious, mischievous, happy young lady who loves playing and snuggling with her people. She adores my 18 year old son, and seems to especially like young men, but is more wary of older adult males. She warms up to them; it just takes a little longer. She has a strong prey drive, chasing all the small critters she sees in the yard. She was tested and labeled "No dogs" at the shelter. She'd do best as an only pet. Halle is house and crate trained. She is very enthusiastic about food and is still learning proper manners around people who have food. She has shown no signs of food aggression with me. I can take her food bowl away while she is eating with no issue. Halle is getting over her skepticism of new people, but is still quite cautious and can be a little grumbly at first, so introductions should be at her pace. She has proven to be too difficult for me to walk on a leash. She is quite strong and pulls more than I (5' 6" middle aged woman) can handle, especially if she spots another dog. So she hangs out supervised in my fenced backyard, securing the perimeter against squirrels, sniffing, chewing a nylabone, having zoomies and playing tug with a rope toy. She has an impressive vertical jump and climbing skills, and she cleared my 4.5' gate with no problem. Therefore, a 6' fenced yard is a must.
