Story
Meet a living jewel in a compact package, WINNIE! She is the snuggliest, funniest, most trusting low-rider girl. Winnie is used to having her people work from home and can be found snoring or chewing her bone right under their feet. She is very interested in the dogs behind the fence, running the line giving the cutest, excited yelp-y barks saying "HI!". Winnie will get zooms on occasion, she is surprisingly fast! Leash manners remain a work in progress. She is very interested in all the sights and sounds around which makes her a strong puller, even on a prong collar. She is extremely happy to go with you in the car especially visiting new places. Winnie is happiest being able to look out the front window, at the end of the adventure she is snoozing. She is very social (with people and dogs), but sometimes needs to work on managing her excitement in overstimulating situations. We recommend older kids and dogs in her fur-ever home, and slow, supervised introductions to new friends so that Winnie can manage her excitement levels. Winnie is a big fan of feeding time. She was rather plump when she arrived at her foster home. Her ideal family will need to be diligent in keeping her from putting that weight back on. Winnie is crate and house-trained. She is happy to be in her crate with things to do while you are away. She prefers to not be alone at bedtime, she will cry. Winnie is very much a bulldog mix so snores and snorts are a way of life. You will not lack for snuggles and chuckles with this girl around. Get your own zoomies and come meet this girl soon.

Story
Binka is a female 9 month old Dogo mix. She is very affectionate and loves to snuggle and be loved on by her humans. Binka gets along well with her doggy foster sister and brother and loves to wrestle and play tug. Binka can be a little nervous meeting new people or dogs in new places but loves having new guests in her home and greets them without hesitation! In new environments, she will warm up after having a little time to adapt. We think this may be because she is a little vision impaired. She can see things close to her face and can usually chase a ball just fine, but we suspect her sight is a bit blurry. For this reason, Binka would do better in a home with older kids - she does great with her foster mom's nieces who are 7 and 9! Other than this, Binka is a completely normal playful and sweet puppy! She is fully potty and crate trained and also walks very nicely on a leash with very minimal correction. Binka is overall a super easy and very loving puppy and would make a great addition to any family! ##1949139##

Story
There's two phrases that fit this situation: Good things come to those who wait; and good things come in small packages. At 40lbs, she may not seem small to some, but in a home where the average dog weight is 75-80lbs, she's the little bitty one!  Have you been waiting for an adorable girl with the cutest underbite ever?  Well wait no more!  This little girl, official name Sugar, but affectionately called Ma'amins by her foster mom, is ready to find her forever this time.  She was originally a shelter stray, so there's no information about her background or previous life. Everything we know we've learned while she's been in a foster home.  She currently lives with two large neutered male dogs, but she also had a large spayed female foster sister for a couple months until she got adopted.  She challenged the female, who had no issue putting her in her place a few times. Then they were best friends. But her future friends may be a better fit if they're male. Sugar likes to wrestle. Despite being more than half the size of her opponents!  She gets the zoomies at night, racing around the house, trying to engage her brothers in play.  Her teeth are ground down in the front. No idea how or when it happened.  This is mentioned because she likes to play using her mouth at times. And it doesn't hurt because 1. She doesn't put much pressure behind it, and 2. She basically just gums you.  She likes to lick and give smooches as well. Yes, she's very kissy!  She's not very snuggly, however. Choosing to be more like a cat in that she'll hang out next to you, but usually not on you. If she gets in your lap, she usually wants something lol, so it doesn't last long.  And when she wants something, there's no concept of personal space. Ha!  House training has been a bit challenging, but we've worked out a good system. She can last about 5 hours. But she's also pee pads trained (helpful that her foster brother is a senior who needs a little help in that department as well). She isn't crated during the day, preferring to sleep on the couch. She has a few minor "issues" when it comes to crates/feeding that are easily managed. But because of those issues, it's recommended she not be in a home with young children.  And she's on medication due to minor seizure activity.  Not the typical seizures, thankfully. But now that she's properly medicated, there's been no issues since!  She's young (approximately a year old, give or take), spayed, up to date on vaccines and preventatives and ready for prime time. She is a happy girl who will waggily greet you at the door when you come home every day with silly woo-woo sounds! And would do fine as an only dog as well.  Nothing is known about how she is with cats, but we're willing to meet yours if you have a dog savvy cat.  She gets a kick out of telling the neighbors to get off her lawn lol. She doesn't realize her size and interesting bark make her less than intimidating!   Needless to say, this little button is quite the character. Let us know if you'd like to meet her! Do you have the heart and home to give this girl the best for the rest? Adoption fee of $150 includes spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: http://2pawsup.org/2pawsup_wp/forms/adoption-form/June 16, 2024, 2:56 pm

Story
Woof Woof Hi! My name is Briggs! I am just a ray of sunshine looking for my forever family to shine on. I may look mature but I’m only 5 years young! I would do best in a feline free home, but I have been able to be friendly with dogs of all sizes! I love a good butt scratch and belly rub while laying out in the grass. I’ve also been super fond of yummy meaty treats over biscuit treats and given the option, who wouldn`t? 13/10 would love to spend the rest of my life with you. I am full grown at ~51 lbs. How did I get here? Transferred from Harnett County Animal Shelter where I came in as a stray. ~My adoption fee is $95.00.~

Story
Zino is a super loving playful boy! He is 7 1/2 years old and will require neuter due to his cryptorchid but already has an appointment for that August 20th at the spay neuter clinic in Zebulon. Since it is a pricey procedure this location does it at a fraction of the cost so it will only be around $200 which I will be more than happy to cover as long as he goes to a loving home. He does need monthly grooming (bath, ears, nails clipped, & the anal glands) to keep him healthy and could use a dental cleaning as well. He is the sweetest most loving loyal boy who doesn’t know a stranger and will absolutely adore you! He was my ex’s dog who lost his home and I have been keeping him until I can find him a new home but I will be starting a work from home job next week and had to sign a zero tolerance on rule on young children and pets background noise, we are also frequently out of town and I am a single mother with limited resources so unfortunately unable to keep him.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption  website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC    FOSTER DOG INFORMATION: Pluto is an affectionate, 70 pound, neutered male dog. He was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023 and is currently being fostered for Best Friend Pet Adoption.  Pluto is very sweet, healthy, and happy. He is up-to-date on his vaccinations and the vet estimates his age as 6 years old. Pluto is great with all the people and dogs he has met. He especially likes people and loves cuddles and pets.  He plays well with the fosters two dogs but can be possessive over toys if boundaries are not set. He is house-trained and not possessive over food. He will sit by the door if he wants to go out. He knows to use the bathroom in the grass in the yard or in the grass while on walks.  Pluto seems to have been well cared for previously. He spends the day lounging on the couch, playing with his toys, and awaiting more belly rubs. Pluto is quiet. He will occasionally bark briefly when we get a package at the front door (but only if the package is set against the door) otherwise he does not make a sound. He will whine/bark briefly if left out in the yard longer than it takes him to use the bathroom.  He prefers leashed bathroom breaks so no fenced yard is needed.  He does pull some while walking on a leash. Mainly pulls towards houses (I think because he prefers being inside). We are working on improving his leash skills.   We have introduced Pluto to some kids and he did well.  He was on a leash and did very well. He does not seem to mind kids, but gives more attention to adults. He was fine with children running up to him, petting him, and grabbing at his face and ears.  He has met one cat. He was not aggressive but seems to have a prey drive so he would do best in a home without cats.  We feel Pluto could be with other dogs or as an only dog.  Pluto is crate trained; however, he does not need a crate.  He prefers to be out of his crate.  He is well mannered so we keep him out all day even when we are not home. He knows where he is allowed to go and what toys he can play with.  When we work away from home, he does great. We have a camera to check up on him. He sleeps most of the day and occasionally plays with my other dogs or with a toy.  We feel he could be left home alone or with another dog.  At night Pluto sleeps on a couch, recliner, or dog bed depending on his preference. He does prefer to sleep on the bed with us. Due to his size and snoring, he typically sleeps on the couch in the living room. Pluto is very friendly and well trained. He is quiet, gentle, and spends most of the day sleeping. He is great during the day while we are at work and happy when we return. He is always ready to snuggle up next to you on the couch and receive pets. He sleeps through the night and rarely makes noise during the day. He gets along great with my dogs and we would keep him in heartbeat if we did not already have two dogs.     EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Pluto was found abandoned on the side of the road in October 2023. A BFPA volunteer found him and took him in.  We are helping this sweet boy find his forever home.      Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.   INTERESTED IN ADOPTING PLUTO? Story
A bulldog among the best of bulldogs, Tonya has arrived at the farm and she is ready to roll back out with some snugglin, bull dog lovin peeps that are looking for a great companion and walking buddy who does not like to run or do anything too strenuous. Tonya is an adult gal who, let's be real, likely had people before and surely had a few too many snacks. She weighs about 60 lbs now but is ready to give the Green Bean Diet a chance in order to get her beach body back for this summer. She is a lady through a through, likes to potty outside and can politely share space with other dogs but does not have a hankering for throwing down or getting rowdy. Passing on cats or small doggo friends would probably be ideal for this gal who prefers to hand with same-ish sized dogs. She likes things at a slow to middlin kind of pace. This sweet girl is likely to be your shadow and won't ever demand you run or walk super fast, but would like you to meander around with her on a regular basis. Tonya is ready to find her main squeezes and will be waiting patiently for you to arrive to rescue her so that she can rescue you from a life without her! *Weekend Host feedback: "We took her on a walk. She was excited about it and pulled initially, but then mellowed out". "She wasn't a big fan of her crate, so we let her sleep downstairs on the couch overnight and she did totally fine". "We have an older pit bull and they both got along". "We were able to leave the house with her uncrated and there were no issues while we were gone".

Story
Panda was found abandoned on the side of the road with his kennel.  His Foster Family has put in a lot of work with this sweet guy and he has come a long way very quickly.  Panda is a silly, goofy guy who loves to have his belly scratched.  He walks very well on lead with the gentle lead on.  His Foster Mama says that he is a very fast learner and he is food motivated.  As you can see in the videos, he goes right into his kennel when asked.   Panda is also really good at playing catch. He does enjoy other dogs but can play rough so it would be best for him to have dogs about his size to play with.  His Foster Mama states that he is on medication for his separation anxiety and that they have been working on clearing up the yeast buildup that he had on his skin when found.   Panda has been neutered and has tested negative for Heartworm and Lyme.  If you feel that you may be able to provide a fur-ever home for Panda, please complete an adoption application so that we can set up a meet and greet. ##1958602##

Story
Loki is a great dog and I have been so torn with the decision to rehome him but it may be what's best for him. I am moving up north where there are more size restrictions on pets when looking for housing. I also got him with my partner at the time and she sadly passed away and I got left with all the animals we shared. We welcomed him into our home when he was 10 weeks old from the SPCA. & is now just over 2 years old. He loves to play and is a medium to higher-energy type of dog. He is a smart dog and sometimes goofy. He knows to sit, down, stay, spin, paw/shake, etc. He is very food-motivated. he stays in the crate when I am at work and doesn't bark when I get home. He sometimes thinks he's the neighborhood watch and may bark 1 or 2 times to alert you he heard a noise. he can be calmed with nature sounds. Loki would be great in a home with a yard or someone who wants a workout buddy for runs or likes to take longer walks. He sometimes chases my cat so be cautious if you have one.

Story
Looking to Rehome A Sweet Puppy! Ruby is a lab boxer mix. She is black with white areas. She is around 10 months old and weighs about 55 pounds. She’s a very sweet playful puppy! Ruby is great with other dogs, however not so much with cats. She would be a great family dog!! She’s loves children! She loves to run and could play fetch all day! Loves outside! She doesn’t really bark. This breaks our hearts but we need to find her a home where she can run and play often and happily. She’s extremely playful. Looking to rehome as she currently lives in an apartment and needs more space to run, play, as well as people willing to play with her and let her out often. She’s high energy but so sweet!! Ruby is house broken using dog alert bells on the door, sit trained, car riding trained, and is kennel trained. She’s in great health per the vet! All files can, and will be requested, to be sent to the veterinarian of your choice. She’s up to date on all vaccines. A rehoming fee of $40.
