Volunteer notes, 4/22/24:Jazz is a gorgeous girl who looks like the dog version of a tiger. She runs like a big cat as well, bouncy, agile, and alert. She whined a little bit when she saw a dog in the next play yard but was otherwise pretty calm. She is the perfect medium size to climb in her person`s lap and receive pets (which she did). Her coat is very soft!

Fun, playful, clownish, and smart--the words that seem to describe Moose. This super cute fella was picked up by the Burlington Police Department and brought to BAS. He`s definitely not a criminal and did nothing wrong, he was just a lost pup who didn`t find his way back home. Moose is at least 5 years old and knows some basic commands. He has a happy and friendly personality, and he`s ready to bring much laughter, happiness, and love to a lucky person or family`s life. Moose did test positive for heartworm but we will be taking care of the treatment, so no worries! Moose is hoping to meet you today, so come visit us soon!Dog Day Out, 5/4/24:It was a rainy day when Moose had his outing, so we sat under some shade and played with so many toys. We took a stroll around Elon`s campus, and Moose was happy to meet so many new human friends. He spent most of his time chewing on awesome toys, running around, and meeting new friends. Moose was such a sweet boy! He was so friendly with every single person he met, and gave the biggest puppy eyes when he did not get pets from someone who walked by. He was very well adjusted to his new company of the day, and was strutting around campus with his beloved toy in his mouth. Moose is young at heart and would do so well in any home he is given the opportunity to thrive in. He loves butt scratches and sitting with his toys. Dog Day Out, 4/26/24:Moose was a wonderful hiking partner! He pulled a bit at first, but caught on quickly to walking well! He’s super smart, has `sit` down super well, and loves to give you his paw! He was an absolute sweetheart and loves to lean on you and get good rubs! I hope this wonderful boy finds a good home soon! Dog Day Out, 4/5/24:We started the day with some Starbucks--Moose loved his pup cup. Then we went to Cedarock Park and went on the Waterfall Trail and the Green Trail they have. Then we went to McDonald’s where he enjoyed some fries. Moose was fantastic, didn’t bark, didn’t pull--very gentle. On our hike we bumped into a couple of dogs and he wanted nothing to do with them. I have a 7 month old; she wasn’t with us the whole time but when she was, he paid little attention to her. He also knows tricks: sit and shake with both paws--very clever. If I could, I’d adopt this lovely guy in a heart beat.

Adopt me and pay $0.00!!!Notes from my foster: Overall Hunter is doing really well, and loves going for his walks and snuggling up on the sofa in the evenings. We have found that he is fairly low energy. We take him on a 2 to 3 mile walk in the morning, a 1 mile walk in the evening, and let him out in the backyard for some explore time each day (he mostly walks, not runs, here). And that seems to be plenty of exercise for him. He spends a lot of the rest of the time napping, and is always calm in the house. Also, our experience is that Hunter doesnt mind the company of other dogs. We have never seen him show any aggression towards them at all, even if they act aggressively towards him, and he always really strongly wants to meet other dogs, and then whines a little when we don`t let him. One day on a walk, another dog got close and came racing over to Hunter. Hunter was delighted and sniffed noses and did the play bow and was super happy to have a new friend. We adopted Bluey from the shelter in hopes to giving him a loving home. He is a very energetic and loving boy who needs much attention and space to run that our home does not allow. With my busy schedule I feel like he is being neglected in the quality time and exercise he needs and deserves. Prefer the adopter have a yard for him to run and be familiar with the hyperactivity of his breed. If you are looking for a lazy lapdog Bluey isn’t it but if you are looking for someone to keep you busy and on your toes he is your man.
