Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Transferred from La Junta Animal Shelter. Believed to be 2-3 years old. From the foster: UPDATE - While he doesn't like to go in the crate, once he's in there he's pretty calm and quiet. We've been having him sleep in it, and left him in there for a few hours without issue. He loves toys now and tug of war is his favorite. His instinct with other dogs is to run up and get all in their face and shower them with love. Our dog does not like that so we've been working with him on a less intense approach and he's definitely improved over the last week! He's making good progress on socialization and takes correction well. ORIGINAL - Axel is a very handsome, 2–3-year-old pup full of love and potential. His coat is already improving after just a few days in foster care, and while we don’t know much about his past, his future looks bright. Axel is smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. He knows how to sit and absolutely loves walks. He’s a high-energy dog who needs daily exercise, but he also settles nicely and can be very calm. He’s an excellent car passenger—often riding shotgun with one paw on the armrest and happily napping. Mealtime is one of his favorite parts of the day. He eats very quickly and still needs to gain some weight. Chicken doesn’t agree with his stomach, and he needs reminders to take treats gently—he’ll do it beautifully with a little guidance. Axel had varying degrees of success in his two foster homes with potty-training;in one, he gave clear signals when he needs to go out but in the other, he was only partially reliable. He may need some patience learning how to tell his humans it's time to go out but he seems to understand the overall concept well. He hasn’t chewed anything in the home and is slowly discovering the joy of toys. He’s not a fan of the crate but he will go in it. Axel is a total Velcro dog who loves being near his people. He’ll follow you from room to room, help with chores, snuggle, or simply curl up at your feet. He craves affection and gives it right back. He’s polite when meeting other dogs and stays focused on walks, showing little interest in squirrels or other distractions. With consistent training and attention, Axel will make an incredible addition to a loving family. We’ve listed Axel as good with kids 10 and up because he gets excited bursts of energy where he’s a little rambunctious and would be a risk for knocking over younger children, and because during times of excitement, he will sometimes initiate play by grabbing hands and arms lightly in his mouth. [UPDATE]: Axel is very anxious meeting dogs at the rescue, less so outside of the rescue. He went to a foster home that was giving him a try to see if it would work, and Axel loved the dog who was able to play and roughhouse with him, but ultimately did not get along with the older dog who is 14 and not very interested in playing, so he's back and available for meet and greets. If the timing could work, we would consider an outside meet and greet for Axel given his anxiety when meeting at adoption events. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED for Sweet Sheeba!   Meet Sheeba — a small (ONLY 30 LBS), loving, loyal, and incredibly smart girl who’s ready for her next chapter.   Sheeba is an absolute sweetheart in the home — calm, affectionate, and always happy to greet guests with tail wags and love. She’s house-trained, eager to please, and thrives when she’s close to her people.   Her challenge? Walks can be tough. She gets overexcited when she sees other dogs or small animals, and while her foster family has worked hard with her, she still needs a patient, confident person to help her keep learning. With structure, consistency, and the right energy, Sheeba has so much potential to shine. Her current foster family adores her but is no longer able to provide the consistency she needs — so we’re looking for a new foster (or even better, a forever home!) to help Sheeba continue to grow and thrive.   Fully vetted Sweet, smart, and affectionate in the home Needs an experienced or patient home willing to keep working on leash reactivity Best as the only pet (for now)   If you can open your heart and home to this special girl — even temporarily — please reach out to Demi’s Animal Rescue. Let’s find Sheeba the loving home she deserves!   https://www.wagtopia.com/search/pet?id=2211597&name=Sheba Sheba has had two instances of heartworm and was successfully treated.  She will need to be on meds the rest of her life and we can talk with interested adopters more about this.   If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website - https://demisanimalrescue.com/demis-adoption-application/  All dogs are spayed/neutered, mircochipped, heartworm tested (if over 6 months old) and up to date on vaccinations (combo shot, bordetella, rabies(if age appropriate)  ##2211597##

Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Roscoe finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Roscoe | 2-Year-Old Pit Bull Mix | Playful Prancer with a Big Heart Roscoe is a 45-pound sweetheart who has come a long way from his rough start as a neglected stray. Once malnourished and scared, he’s now a healthy, affectionate pup who loves toys, treats, and a good cuddle session. He’s almost fully house trained, signals when he needs to go out, and does wonderfully in his crate—quiet, patient, and happy to relax with a chew toy. Roscoe is playful, goofy, and full of personality. His prance during playtime is pure joy, and he’ll offer you his paw or roll over for belly rubs without hesitation. Routine and structure mean everything to him, and when he knows what to expect, he settles beautifully. Because of his past and his sensitive nature, Roscoe can react defensively when he feels uncertain, startled, or overwhelmed. He’s still learning how to navigate the world, and loud noises, unexpected movements, or unfamiliar animals can trigger his protective instincts. Roscoe will thrive with an adopter who has medium to high training experience—someone who appreciates a dog with potential, understands his signals, and is excited to help him continue building confidence through positive, reassuring guidance. This beautiful boy will do best in a calm, adult-only home without other pets. He bonds deeply with his people and wants so badly to feel safe. With the right person, his reactivity can continue to improve; he’s food- and toy-motivated, eager to please, and responds wonderfully when gently redirected or reassured. Roscoe deserves a chance to know a life where the world isn’t scary—where he has consistency, security, and a human who shows him every day that he is safe, valued, and loved. Roscoe will be a loyal, snuggly, joyful companion who will give his whole heart right back.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
