Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Transferred from La Junta Animal Shelter. Believed to be 2-3 years old. Axel was adopted by his foster but ultimately determined their home was not prepared to take on a dog. From the foster: Axel is a very goofy puppy who loves to cuddle and play, he knows a few tricks including sit, stay, kennel, and spin, he’s also been working on his manners when it comes to doors. He is potty trained and has good house manners but will have an accident when he gets too excited or when meeting new people (he’s working on it). He can get a little mouthy when he is excited so we try to keep him as calm as possible when meeting new people. Axel does exceptionally well in a crate and he is very food motivated which makes training that much easier! Axel is smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. He knows how to sit and absolutely loves walks. He’s a high-energy dog who needs daily exercise, but he also settles nicely and can be very calm. He’s an excellent car passenger—often riding shotgun with one paw on the armrest and happily napping. Axel is a total Velcro dog who loves being near his people. He’ll follow you from room to room, help with chores, snuggle, or simply curl up at your feet. He craves affection and gives it right back. He has shown instances of being protective of his people with other dogs, so he still needs more guidance and correction with that sometimes. In general, he can be selective with other dogs so while he is not necessarily bad with them, introductions are very important. We’ve listed Axel as good with kids 10 and up because he gets excited bursts of energy where he’s a little rambunctious and would be a risk for knocking over younger children, and because during times of excitement, he will sometimes initiate play by grabbing hands and arms lightly in his mouth. [UPDATE]: Axel is very anxious meeting dogs at the rescue, less so outside of the rescue. Sage was born in July 13th, 2020. We brought her home when she was only 2mo old and has been living with us since. She is full of energy, happy, love company, snuggles, play fetch, run in the yard, and just be around people (she LOVES visits). She is very food-motivated, and responds mostly well to positive reinforcement. She enjoys her bed and being tucked in at night. She would thrive in a home that can offer structure, engagement, and consistency. She does best as the only dog in the house, as she is reactive around other dogs. She has lived with a cat since we have her and coexists well. As our family has grown and we now have a toddler, we’ve made the very difficult decision to find a home better suited to her needs and stimulation levels. I also run a in home daycare, and can't give her the attention and love that she needs. We are looking for an adult-only or older-children home, ideally with breed experience, that can provide patience, stability, and lots of love.

Hi, I’m Cody! I’m a 5-year-old pit/schnauzer mix and I’ve been with my family since I was just 6 weeks old. I grew up with babies, kids, and other dogs and I love everyone I meet. I’m gentle, affectionate, and fully potty trained. My family loves me very much, but sadly my little human has developed severe allergies to me, so they’re searching for a new loving home for me. I also have allergies and my family has tried many traditional treatments over the past few years without success. Now I’m on a special raw diet and natural supplements that have made a big difference in helping my body heal. It’s very important that my new family can continue this care. I love going on walks, playing, and then cuddling up for naps. My kennel is my safe space, but I’m happiest when I’m close to you or hanging out with other dogs. I truly am the best boy and have so much love to give. I hope to find my forever family soon.

Dublin is high energy but amazing. He loves being one of the gang and loves people. I recently got married and changed jobs and unfortunately I no longer have the time to give him the attention he deserves. He loves running and playing catch, prefers to sleep with his people (under the blanket). He is very laid back as far as attitude goes but needs a family that are able to play with him and help him expend his energy. I love him very much and hate that I have to find him a new family but he deserves to be happy because he truly is so full of love!
