Story
Meet my sweet girl — a Christmas miracle born on December 25, 2016! My family and I brought her home as an adorable 2-month-old puppy, and she’s been the light of our lives ever since. Now 9 years young, she’s still full of puppy energy: super playful, hyper, and incredibly active — she loves zoomies, chasing toys, and turning every walk into an adventure! 🐶✨ She’s the most affectionate, loyal companion you could ask for, always ready for cuddles after playtime and quick to make you smile with her goofy antics. And yes, she’s fully kennel/crate trained — she sees her crate as her cozy safe space for relaxing or when her humans are away, which makes life easier for everyone. Her one little quirk? She’s scared of just about everything 😂— new people, loud noises, even the occasional plastic bag — but with patience and a calm, loving approach, she warms up and shows her true sweet, trusting side. She just needs someone who understands that and gives her time to feel safe.

Story
0321093 - Hi!  This sweet girl is Zoey (or "Zo Zo" as we call her in her foster home).  Zoey came to Colorado from New Mexico and is ready to find her forever home.  Zoey is a 4-5 year old boxer mix and weighs roughly 50lbs.  She is a very precious and sweet girl who loves affection, loves to give kisses and loves to get belly rubs.  She will follow you around the house to see what you are up to (and to be by your side).  She will also cuddle up next to you and let you love on her all day long!   Zoey is crate trained, potty trained, sleeps all night and likes to go on short leashed walks to take in the new sights and scents of Colorado.  She is also spayed and UTD on her vaccines.   Zoey has two foster doggy siblings.  Although they are all working on getting along, she is still a bit testy with them.  She may be happiest as an only dog, but if you have a mellow dog she may also do fine with a proper introduction to make sure that everyone gets along.  She has been introduced to her two kitty foster siblings, and doesn't show much interest so a home with cats would be fine.   Zoey would do best in calm environment where someone is home most of the day.  Zoey needs to be given the love and affection that she deserves and she promises to love and be grateful to you in return.   If you have the perfect home for this precious sweet pea, please fill out an adoption application at www.sloppykisses.org/adoptions! ##2083574##

Story
0126003 - Meet Bode! Bode is a 4-month-old boxer mix named after legendary skier Bode Miller—and the name fits him perfectly! Just like his namesake, this pup has a fearless spirit and big ambitions. Bode is always trying to climb or jump his way out of his pen so he can be right where the action is: with his favorite people and furry friends. One of the bigger pups in the litter, Bode is a confident, outgoing boy who loves to play with toys and then settle in for some quality snuggle time. He’s social, affectionate, and happy to be included in whatever you’re doing. Bode does great with kids, cats, and other dogs, making him a wonderful addition to just about any home. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, adventurous puppy with a big heart and an even bigger personality, Bode might be your perfect match. Working on crate training and coming when called. Tanner has beautiful blue eyes that will melt your heart. Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Approximately 3-month-old puppy transferred from Española Humane (NM). Parvo survivor prior to intake. Came with the name Penny From the foster: Penny might not have spots, speckles, or flashy colors in her coat — but she has something even better: a heart full of love! She’s a spunky little girl, always on the go, always ready to play, and just as sweet and lovable as any pup you’ll meet. She greets everyone with pure joy and anyone who meets her absolutely loves her! She is great with other dogs as well as kids. Penny has a very adventurous spirit, and wants to be the first to try anything and everything, but she is also a softie who will be happy to cuddle. She will do well in a home where she gets lots of attention and playtime. Penny is a very quick learner. She is in the process of learning basic commands like sit and our 13 year old daughter just taught her how to lie down…all in just three days! She loves treats and is a smart little girl, so training with positive reinforcement and establishing a routine will be the road to success! Penny is still working on potty training, but boy is she smart. With frequent access to the outside yard, Penny is starting to run to the door when she needs to go out. She’s learning that her crate is a safe space, but with a little patience and encouragement, she’s proving that she can do anything. Once she’s settled in, she sleeps through the night without a peep. Penny will make an amazing companion for someone who’s ready to offer her the attention, trust, and love she deserves. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt

Story
Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! **Axel did not have sign-ups for the 1/24/26 event and will not be attending as a result.** What we know: Transferred from La Junta Animal Shelter. Believed to be 2-3 years old. Axel was adopted by his foster but ultimately determined their home was not prepared to take on a dog. From the foster: Axel is a very goofy puppy who loves to cuddle and play, he knows a few tricks including sit, stay, kennel, and spin, he’s also been working on his manners when it comes to doors. He is potty trained and has good house manners but will have an accident when he gets too excited or when meeting new people (he’s working on it). He can get a little mouthy when he is excited so we try to keep him as calm as possible when meeting new people. Axel does exceptionally well in a crate and he is very food motivated which makes training that much easier! Axel is smart, food-motivated, and eager to please. He knows how to sit and absolutely loves walks. He’s a high-energy dog who needs daily exercise, but he also settles nicely and can be very calm. He’s an excellent car passenger—often riding shotgun with one paw on the armrest and happily napping. Axel is a total Velcro dog who loves being near his people. He’ll follow you from room to room, help with chores, snuggle, or simply curl up at your feet. He craves affection and gives it right back. He has shown instances of being protective of his people with other dogs, so he still needs more guidance and correction with that sometimes. In general, he can be selective with other dogs so while he is not necessarily bad with them, introductions are very important. We’ve listed Axel as good with kids 10 and up because he gets excited bursts of energy where he’s a little rambunctious and would be a risk for knocking over younger children, and because during times of excitement, he will sometimes initiate play by grabbing hands and arms lightly in his mouth. [UPDATE]: Axel is very anxious meeting dogs at the rescue, less so outside of the rescue. If the timing could work, we would consider an outside meet and greet for Axel given his anxiety when meeting at adoption events. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
