Story
Meet Hen! If Hen could talk we'd be curious to hear about his life experiences before he arrived at Foothills as a stray. This boy would benefit from a home that can provide with him daily mental and physical stimulation. Hen is athletic and food motivated, training would be so much fun!Our walkers tell us that when they enter his kennel to leash him up, he will greet them energetically and enthusiastically. He enjoys running around and chasing tennis balls in the play yards, returning to their side and leaning in for ear scratches. Story
Oh Dennis, funny little dude with so much to learn and explore! We've found him to enjoy using his nose to explore, and a low-pressure approach when meeting new people. Once comfortable, Dennis enjoys playing with toys, learning new tricks (he currently knows sit and shake). Dennis shared his previous home successfully with dogs and children. Once comfortable in his environment, Dennis likes to show off his big smile and loves attention from his favorite people. Our volunteers tell us that Dennis loves getting scratches, pets and treats, sitting politely and taking them gently. Rabbits may quickly grab his attention, but he can be redirected when offered high value treats. If you are looking for a young dog to take on fun hikes or as a jogging partner, perhaps Dennis is the dog for you! Dennis is available only to feline-free households at this time. Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Weight: 45.8 Age: 1yrs 1mths 0wks

Story
Keke is certainly a beauty with her striking blue/gray coloring and sweet eyes. This amiable girl has been an absolute delight to her foster mom as well as her foster dog siblings! Mild mannered and easy going, Keke prefers a slower pace and enjoys lounging and napping a good portion of the day. Of course when the other 2 dogs in her home invite her to come play, she is a willing participant and likes to engage in some play time occassionally. Her foster mom raves about what an easy house guest Keke is and she barely knows she is there at times. She isn't a barker and doesn't require constant entertaining or supervision. While Keke is affectionate and likes to snuggle she is not demanding or needy at all! She has great house manners and does not get into mischief at her foster mom's home. While Keke is on the larger size at 72 lbs, she moves deftly, almost delicately and is not clumsy in the least. She exudes both beauty and grace! This good girl is house trained, enjoys leash walks and adores car rides, making her an ideal companion for adventures both near and far. Very sweet and devoted companion who is great with humans and dogs (cats are not known). In addition to her pretty appearance, Keke knows how to sit and follow basic instruciton and is eager to please. We suspect Keke is a delightful mix of several breeds including mostly Pit Bull. The vet indicated Keke is around 2 years and weighs 72 lbs If you would like to adopt/foster please apply at https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/  The adoption fee of $250 includes the spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming and microchip.   Please note, Circle 2 Rescue cannot guarantee the breed, composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have limited history prior to them entering the rescue.  ##2038690##

Story
What a remarkable and heartwarming rescue dog Sheldon is! He was abandoned at a gas station by his people where he relied on the kindness of the clerks and customers to feed him. At night he took shelter behind the dumpster or in a dirt cave. His days were occupied with searching for food to stay alive. When we became aware of his situation we knew we had to do something. We weren't sure what to expect but when a volunteer went out to catch him, Sheldon simply jumped in the car and went home with her. No fuss, no growling, no fear. He understand we were there to help. The first night Sheldon slept for about 12 hours without waking. He was so emaciated and exhausted. He met his foster mom with tail wags and gently accepted hot dogs, food and treats. His foster reports that Sheldon is a gentleman and very grateful house guest!  He is friendly and deferential to the 3 other male pit bulls in his home and very low key. While he prefers to nap and just hang out, he watches with amusement as the younger, more energetic dogs romp and wrestly. Sheldon's foster mom describes him as a dreamboat and nearly perfect. He has bonded quickly and deeply with his foster mom and will do the same with his new forever family. We can not understate his devotion to humans. He stays right by his foster mom's side when walking and doesn't pull or react to things around him. He prefers to be near her. When we took Sheldon to the vet the staff swooned over him and his gentle spirit. Sheldon is one of those special dogs who steals your heart with his resiliance, love and gentle soul. How can one not be touched by such an unbreakable spirit?  When we took Sheldon to the vet we learned he is heart worm positive. His treatment will be covered by the rescuce and involved 3 vet vists over a 3 month time frame.  Please read about heart worm and its treatment:  https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics If you would like to adopt/foster please apply at https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/  The adoption fee of $250 includes the spay/neuter, vaccinations, deworming and microchip.   Please note, Circle 2 Rescue cannot guarantee the breed, composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have limited history prior to them entering the rescue.  ##2054844##

Story
All people inquiring about pets listed as Courtesy Listings on the EAPL website and/or EAPL posting adoption boards should contact the current pet owner/rescue/shelter for answers to any questions and for final approval and placement. Please do not contact EAPL  about courtesy listings. The pet owner/rescue/shelter and new owner shall make all arrangements on transferring the pet, information on history, vaccines, etc.  Cam is a neutered, 6.5 yr old, AmStaff/AmBully/Lab mix. He is house trained and is a very gentle, patient, soft-mouthed, silly, and nervous boy who is very loved in his current home. Unfortunately, he lives with a littermate brother who does not appreciate him. We've been managing the two boys for quite some time, keeping them separated, but Cam is getting more and more stressed living in our home. His brother is not a candidate for rehoming. We've worked with our vet, a trainer and a vet behaviorist and so far we have not seen enough improvement in Cam's quality of life to continue the way things are. It breaks my heart to have to rehome Cam, and many tears have been shed, but it is not fair to have him continue to live his life this way.    Cam LOVES playing hide-n-seek, defluffing toys, mining for squeakers and chasing leaf shadows in the backyard. He walks wonderfully on leash, and readily accepts training, though isn't the most food-motivated dog. He may do best as a single dog due to some reactivity that has developed along with his issues with his brother. Though, a smaller dog could be a good fit - he currently does very well with our shih-tzu. He has a high prey drive, so probably wouldn't do well with cats. He is fearful of new people at first, but warms up very quickly. He is ok with baths, but hates having his nails trimmed. His new home would ideally be with someone who has experience with dogs, is home a good bit and can offer a relaxed atmosphere - someone who appreciates the sensitive souls that pitties are. I am charging a $250 rehoming fee simply to avoid horrible people with bad intentions. If you are not a horrible person and are interested in learning more about Cam, please email Shannon at ketriblue@gmail.com.   June 21, 2024, 4:13 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Mbappe (pronounced M bah pay). My name is a good one because there is a soccer ball player with that name and I’m black and white simuttlar to a soccer ball. Plus I’m athletic and active! I am a girl dog. I’ve had 10 days of training with Bark Dog Training. So I learned a few things. I know SIT, DOWN, and walking on a stringy thing, hmmmm the humans call them leashes. It makes sure your human is attached to you. I am also house & crate trained. I get along well with other dogs & kids (not tested with cats). I am a typical active pup and of course, I still enjoy to exercise my chompers, as an avid chewer, expect to take me to the Pet Store to pick out many hard bones. Many! I can be a bit shy on first introductions, but warm up fast. I would love an active family that will also continue with my training because my brain still has so much room in there for more words that make my body do things for treats. You know! In case you’re interested in how I came out to have these ears and adorable tuxedo, here’s what my ingredients are: She has had a DNA done and is 64% Pit Bull, 15.5% Great Pyrenees, 10% lab, 5% blue heeler, and 5% Staffordshire. I think they forgot 99% good girl! And I’m black and white not blue so what’s that about!?! I can’t wait to meet you, remember, I need a brief warm up so don’t expect immediate wiggles! You will get them though. Basics: Mbappe- spayed female, chipped, vaccinated, 7 months, large, black/white, Pitbull mix, great with dogs and kids, not cat tested, potty and crate trained, shy at first but warms up quick, doing training class, active How To Adopt: Please sign up to adopt me. DogHouse ArtHouse’s processes are still under construction, so please complete an application with our sister rescue God’s Dogs Rescue here https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog/ Located in south Texas but can move out of state Partially filled out applications, or applications without a vet reference will not be considered without thorough explanation as to why it cannot be fully completed.
