Story
Meet Kobe! He was rescued from the side of the road by his foster, and he is just the sweetest boy! His foster family has been caring for him for about a year, but never intended to keep him forever. They have 5 kids ranging from 6 months old to 12 years old and they play with him and lay with him and he is always sweet and gentle with them. He’s never shown aggression to anyone at all. He’s crate trained and house trained, but he will dig under the fence if he doesn’t get enough exercise. He would thrive with more exercise, training and mental stimulation. He’s a very smart dog, but also quite strong so would do well with obedience training. Kobe is about 1.5 years old and weighs about 75 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.March 27, 2024, 10:51 am

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.2/24/24 Still available! 1/14/24 We need to know why this very handsome boy hasn't had any interest in the year that we've had him listed. This dude is special. He is really everything you could want in a companion. He is kind. Loving. Affectionate. Great with other dogs. Good with cats, too. Loves all people, including kids. Mookie (formerly Snoopy but we have changed his name because we have another Snoopy) is all the things. He is about 1 1/2-2 years old and he weighs 75 lbs. That's 75 pounds of squishy love. He is house trained, crate trained, and walks well on leash (he pulls a little because he is eager to explore his world, but this is something he's working on). He enjoys car rides so if you want an adventure buddy, Mookie is your boy! There is nothing bad we can find about him... so why has no one wanted him? Is it because he's a pit bull (mix)? He promises not to hold your heritage against you, no matter what it is, if you'll promise to do the same for him. He doesn't know his breed scares some people, he just knows that he loves everyone. Is there someone that can look past his breed and see him for the giant, loving, squeezable boy that he is? If you might be that person, please reach out! He has waited long enough. It's time for him to find his family and start the rest of his life. Mookie available for adoption or foster. Give him a chance and you'll be glad you did! **any negative comments about the pit bull breed will be deleted immediately. AASR does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. Harrisburg, PA 2am FridaysPort Jervis, NJ 5am Fridays Southington, CT 8am Fridays East Hartford, CT 11am Fridays To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. HOW TO ADOPT: This dog is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this dog, please email ARL-Adoption@arl-iowa.org.---- The cutest girl who may need some time to warm up, but once she knows you she loves to be loved and adores belly rubs - Knows sit, does pretty well on a leash, and can take treats gently - just needs to be reminded sometimes; smart and very trainable using positive reinforcement-based methods - Young and energetic - loves walks and toys - Can have some tunnel vision when she's playing and get so into her game that she's not always be aware of people around her; will do best in a more mature home where all family members are old enough to understand this and not accidentally get in the way of her playing - Can sometimes struggle with people being on her level; having appropriate toys available for her to chew on helps shift her focus and remember her mouth manners- May be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro recommended) - May be best suited to a free-standing home vs. an apartment or other attached-living situation, as she can tend to alert her people when she hears people moving around in hallways - Has been diagnosed with moderate hip dysplasia in one hip (more info at ARL)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. - Happy boy who likes to interact but also loves doing his own thing and sniffing all the smells; will likely open up in a home environment once he's had time to decompress - Knows sit, shake, and down, and has great focus, especially if you have treats- Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for him, so he'll be most comfortable in a mature home - Can struggle to interact appropriately with other dogs and may not be interested in having other dog friends; needs to be the only dog in his new home The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. - Sweet boy, knows sit - Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) - May take some time to warm up to new dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs (dog intro recommended) The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
