Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs special attention, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
He’s a goofy, lovable 60-pound ham who charges into every day with confidence, charm, and just the right amount of chaos. He may be blind, but you’d never know it. Balin is looking for a home without small dogs or cats—he’s got a BIG personality and sometimes forgets just how big he is. He might be able to live with another dog, but it would need to be a calm, very patient buddy who can handle his enthusiastic greetings. Slow, structured introductions are a must.

Story
- Prefers to explore and do their own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once they're in a home environment and have had time to decompress - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Smart boy knows sit- Loves going on walks and does best with a harness- Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs (dog intro recommended)- Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 68 Age: 4yrs 7mths 3wks

HOW TO ADOPT: This animal is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this animal, please email meetme@arl-iowa.org.---- Playful boy with lots of fun energy - Giant cuddlebug, thinks it's his right to be as close as possible to you at all times- Total bed hog and insists he needs multiple pillows for a good night's rest - Loves to learn and has great focus - especially if you have treats, takes treats gently and catches them well - so would be a lot of fun to train - Loves going on walks and does best with a harness- Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip and had a great time with his human companions: "Apollo was such a joy with me on Dog's Day Out! He's incredibly sweet, energetic, and loves exploring. He can get a little jumpy when he's excited, so a home without small kids might be best, but he is very trainable and super treat-motivated. With a little consistency, he'll thrive!" - Foster family says he does well in his crate when home alone - Has been making great progress on potty training in his foster home, will just need some help from his new family to get to 100% - Tends to avoid other dogs and will need to be the only dog in his new home This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program.
