Story
My name is Woofus and I am a brown brindle pit bull. I am a neutered male and I am 4 years old. I am at the shelter because I was found as a stray on 02/26/2024. I am potty trained. I am a high energy dog and I will need an owner with some prior pet owning experience. The shelter staff is not sure if I am used to being crated during the day, although I do well in my large kennel at the shelter. I do pull on my leash when being walked and need to work on my manners, so basic obedience training would be good for me. I do already know some basic commands like `sit` and `shake`! I would like a standard height fence to help keep me inside the yard, or lots and lots of walks on leash to help me burn off my energy. I can be good with men, women, and children over 10 years old. I can be good with other dogs and I cannot live with cats. All dogs are tested for heartworms and given flea preventatives. They are also tested for intestinal parasites and receive routine dewormings. Dogs are vaccinated against distemper, rabies, and bordetella, spayed/neutered before adoption, and have a microchip. Adoption fees include the initial automated registration of the microchip at the time of adoption.

Story
Mira is a super sweet 55 lb 5 year old pit bull girl looking for a special forever home. She was found running in Kansas back in November 2020, and we are guessing came from a breeder situation as she was very scared and quickly put on the euthanasia list at their animal control / shelter because she was so afraid of everything. We were able to get her to Iowa, where we took it extra slow with her. She was adopted in July 2021 and returned six months later due to fear issues with lots of people in and out of the home. Mira gets along with all sizes of animals, but doesn't voluntarily approach people for a long time after meeting them so will need a patient adopter willing to let her learn at her pace. Another confident dog will be needed for this lady, as she watches other animals for guidance. A calmer home and dedicated adopter who has a professional trainer lined up to utilize is required, no exceptions -- and we will follow up as needed post-adoption. She is such a gentle thing who wants to dog but doesn't know how yet, and will take time to figure it out. Her adoption fee is $250 and includes all vetting and microchip. If you feel like you have the environment and patience to love her, please apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org to schedule a couple meets with Mira! All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Marsay is an 11 year old 60 lb pit mix looking for an active retirement home. Marsay is incredibly affectionate and still has the energy of a young pup! He loves to cuddle but also loves going for walks with his foster mom. He is house/crate trained. He does fine with most dogs one-on-one and after a proper intro; we haven't seen him with cats yet and require a meet with any resident pets before adoption. He does tend to guard resources (particularly food and high value toys/bones) so we are suggesting older kids in the home and a dedicated adopter willing to put some one-on-one training time in with him. He loves to meet new people and be part of the action! If interested in meeting Marsay, please apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots.
