Story
Marsay is a 13 year old 60 lb pit mix looking for a retirement home. Marsay is incredibly affectionate and still has the energy of a young pup! He loves to cuddle but also loves going for walks with his foster mom. He is house/crate trained. He does fine with most dogs one-on-one and after a proper intro; we haven't seen him with cats yet and require a meet with any resident pets before adoption. He does tend to guard resources (particularly food and high value toys/bones) so we are suggesting older kids in the home and a dedicated adopter willing to put some one-on-one training time in with him. He loves to meet new people and be part of the action! If interested in meeting Marsay, please apply at www.foreverhomedogs.org!All adoptions are $300 per dog for puppies under 1 year, $250 for adults 1 - 9 years old and $150 for senior dogs which include spay/neuter, micro-chipped and up-to-date on required shots. Senior dogs, at our discretion, are adopted out at $150 per dog because we know they will have less time with your family and may eventually have more needs as they get older. But we feel these dogs deserve to live out the rest of their lives as part of a loving family.

Story
Meet Clyde – Your Big Sweetheart in Need of a Forever Home! He is neutered and up to date on shots. Currently located in Grimes, IA. Clyde is a 3-year-old, 85–90 lb bundle of love and muscle who will absolutely steal your heart. This handsome pittie is super sweet, has great recall, and loves nothing more than gazing into your soul with those big, loving eyes. He’s been wonderful with adults, teens, a toddler, and a busy, loud household. Clyde gets along with other dogs, but we think he’d thrive best as an only pet or with one calm adult dog. He hasn’t been tested with cats. Clyde is crate-trained and goes in willingly, but he dreams of living like a human—free and loved! He’s strong and a little jumpy, so he needs someone who can work with him on manners. He’s smart, eager to please, and deserves the best life. Why is Clyde looking for a new home? His current family loves him, but due to an unexpected medical emergency, they can’t give him the attention and space he deserves.

Story
- An absolute goofball who loves to go on adventures and is always curious about new things - Super friendly and loves getting pets from everyone she meets! - Loves stuffed toys, tennis balls, bones, lick mats and KONGs - Enjoys ice cream as a treat and is always happy to get a pup cup- Loves going on walks and explore; does best with a harness- Has done well when passing other dogs on walks and has not barked at them - Smart lady, already knows sit, down and place and is working on learning shake - Does GREAT traveling in the car and will hop right in for an adventure! - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip and had a great time with her human companions: "Cali is a sweet, affectionate girl who loves her people and thrives on cuddles and connection. She's playful, loves toys, and a good game of fetch, but she's just as happy lounging and soaking up attention." - Foster family says she has done great when left home alone; does not seem to enjoy her kennel and may try to get out - Has been working on potty training in her foster home, but will need some help from her new family to get to 100% - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for her, but has done great with a slightly older child in her foster home - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs and would do best as the only dog in her new home- Has been diagnosed with medial patellar luxation of the left knee (more info at ARL) This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: White Weight: 56 Age: 4yrs 7mths 0wks
