Story
Meet Coco — a 57-pound Pitbull mix beauty who’s equal parts sweetheart, snugglebug, and self-appointed bodyguard of love. 💗 Coco is very sweet, very smart, and very loyal — but she’s also got a bit of a resource-guarding streak and takes her “protect my people, snacks, toys, and space” duties seriously. She’s looking for an experienced dog owner who can help her feel safe, decompress, and channel her energy in all the right ways. Coco’s one of those dogs who wants her favorite humans close by — ideally the kind who work from home and don’t mind sharing their bed, couch, or general existence with a 57-pound shadow. She adores people she trusts and will happily curl up with you for belly rubs, naps, and snacks — basically, the holy trinity of dog happiness. She’s good with cats — as long as they’re independent types who won’t try to steal her bed or her spotlight. Coco’s all about peaceful coexistence, not sharing her throne. 👑 If you’ve got a calm, kid-free home, some dog experience, and room in your heart (and on your couch) for one fabulous, loyal lady — Coco’s ready to be your devoted best friend. 🐾💕 If you are interested in finding out more about Coco, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO/Dog Coco is being fostered in West Roxbury, MA. The adoption fee is $400. Like Broken Tail Rescue on Facebook!. Follow Broken Tail Rescue on Instagram! Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.

Meet Carter! Carter is a 3-year-old, 53lb pitbull mix with the sweetest heart and the silliest smile. This excited, loving boy has been waiting for over a year for someone to notice him—and he is so ready to finally find his forever person. Carter is the kind of dog who just wants to be someone’s best friend. He loves treats, hugs, toys, and anyone willing to appreciate his goofy, playful personality. He does great with other dogs (we recommend slow introductions) and would love a doggy sibling to romp around with—but he’d also be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. It’s hard to believe no one has scooped him up yet, but that just means his perfect match is still out there. Carter is located in Houston, TX, and transport is included in his adoption fee—so he can travel straight to you! If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion who will shower you with unconditional love, Carter is your guy.

🐾 Meet Dottie – The Smart, Water & Sun-Loving Pup You've Been Waiting For! ☀️ Dottie has been soaking up all the love and sunshine in foster and now she’s looking for that special someone who will give her the time and space she needs to thrive. Dottie may take a minute to warm up, but once she does, she’s all in — loyal, affectionate, and eager to be near her people. She loves lounging on the bed or sunbathing on her fosters deck in the backyard. While she can be quiet and independent at times, she also has a playful, silly side. She does best in a calm, predictable environment. Dottie is a quick learner and is having fun with training and games like “find it” that engage her nose and brain. She’s a strong girl and can be enthusiastic on leash — especially when squirrels or exciting scents are involved. Quiet walking routes are best for her, and she LOVES to sniff and explore at her own pace. She also LOVES car rides! Dottie is looking for an adult-only home, where she will be the only pet, with people who understand that good relationships take time. Once she feels safe and secure, her sweet, affectionate side really shines. 💕

Adoption Fee: $500 Our information is current if you are interested in adopting please read our  Adoption Policies before filling out an Adoption Application. https://www.pittieloverescue.org It is the easiest way to start the communication and adoption process. Meet Brea, a sweet, snuggly little house hippo with a serious case of Velcro-dog energy. If you’re wondering where Brea is, the answer is almost always right behind you, announced by the adorable pitter-patter of her paws. She loves her people deeply and wants to be included in whatever you’re doing- especially if it involves the couch or the bed. Brea has a moderate energy level and enjoys leisurely walks where stopping to sniff is highly encouraged. She also loves yard time and playful bursts of zooming around, but she’s more “happy explorer” than wild child. She walks well on leash, stays close when off leash, and is an excellent car companion. Hopping in and out on her own and riding along calmly, sometimes with her head resting on the center console like a tiny co-pilot. At home, Brea is affectionate, gentle, and endlessly charming. She loves squeaky toys, shares nicely, and plays sweetly. She may try to interrupt you leaving with a gentle tug at your socks or shirt sleeves while you’re trying to get dressed. She’s still polishing up her house-training skills and will need a little patience and consistency, but she’s learning daily. Brea greets everyone with a wagging tail and happy energy and would thrive in a home full of love, attention, snuggles, and ideally another dog to be her built-in best friend. Adoption Fee: $300 Our information is current if you are interested in adopting please read our  Adoption Policies before filling out an Adoption Application. https://www.pittieloverescue.org It is the easiest way to start the communication and adoption process. Introducing Kane! This frosty faced, most handsome boy came to us from our friends at Dakin Humane Society after being surrendered when his family could no longer care for him. It’s always sad to see a beloved family pet surrendered but especially so when that pet is a senior who has only known family life for his entire ten years. We knew we had to get this older boy out of the crowded shelter and into a loving home ASAP! Amazing brand new PLR foster Joanne immediately rose to the task and welcomed sweet Kane into her heart and home. While he is a senior dog, Kane has plenty of energy and even more love to spare! In his foster mom’s words, “Kane is just happy being happy”  . He enjoys meandering walks with plenty of sniffs and pee breaks, and will often bust out his senior zoomies around the house or backyard! He isn’t 100% sure what all toys are but he has chosen a favorite one and entertains himself (and his foster mom  ) happily tossing it up in the air then chasing it down. This sweet senior is completely housebroken, rides in a car like the perfectly distinguished gentleman he is and walks well on a leash. Silly Kane also loves to start and end his night of snuggling *right* under the blankets as close to his people as possible. As is common with older animals (and people!) Kane is being worked up for a medical condition that he came to us with. Our amazing veterinarian team is working diligently with his foster mom to get the answers we need to ensure that the remainder of his life is as happy, comfortable, and fulfilled as it can possibly be! In the meantime, Kane is patiently wondering if his forever family is out there somewhere. His dream family would consist of plenty of two-legged people to shower him with love, snuggles and all the walkies he could want! He does have a history of living with cats so could possibly coexist with a feline sibling with proper introductions. Kane has so much love to give that he would prefer he is the only pup in the house, so he doesn’t have to share your affection. If you and your family are looking to grow by the most affectionate, loving frosty face pibble- Kane is your man!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.www.pittieloverescue.org Please consider a donation so that we may continue the important work we do. Story
Meet June Cleaver! This 7-years young bubbly and beautiful bully is a DOLL and came to us from our friends at local animal control after being found as a stray with another dog. Let’s get something out of the way…June has had a loooooot of litters and is subsequently the head of the mom squad. In fact, we’ve never met a mama pup who looked quite like June, and it made us love her even more (TMI – we now know why mommy makeovers are a thing). Junebug is more of a beached body than a beach body and is spending the summer getting her revenge bod back. This low-rider could stand to lose 5 lbs (couldn’t we all?!) but still sparkles like a character from Dynasty.  June would love to be an elegant, refined, fashionable, and ladylike housewife, but…she’s not. But she IS warm, wise, gracious, loving, and gentle…and that is what matters! She came to us with ear and eye infections and a UTI and takes her medications like a champ. And we think Juniper may be part boxer with her endearing wide-set and googly eyes. We’re guessing from her uber, uber sense of crate training, that maybe that is where she has lived for years. As if she doesn’t realize that life exists beyond the bars. But we are thrilled to show her what a real life looks like! One filled with love, affection, respect, treats, and letting her body be hers alone. To see this sweet soul be so used and then discarded is still breaking our hearts. #backyardbreederssuck  Juju is a free spirit and is cordial and respectful when meeting canine and feline friends but quickly loses interest and searches for human interaction. She is an easy dog to care for, is so, so easy to love, and is thirsty for a real family to make all her dreams come true. Because of her size and lack of history, older kids would be best for this stocky gal. June Cleaver’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who loves to snuggle! June is sweetness personified and loves to be close! 2. A family who will honor and respect this sweet soul to make her forget every second of every day of being used by a greedy backyard breeder.  3. A family who can confidently be a breed ambassador for those who need it the mostDecember 22, 2025, 8:18 am

Story
Meet Blitz! Blitz is a 6-year-old, 55 pound working dog. He's smart, food driven, and loves playing fetch. He sleeps through the night in his crate, is house trained, loves learning new tricks, and can be good with other dogs if they allow him to calmly greet them. Blitz would do best in an adult only home, with an owner who is active. He loves going on walks, runs, hikes and car rides. He can be wary of new people, and will need someone to continue to train him on confidence building. Blitz will walk in a heel when requested, he is a quick learner, super food motivated, and will LOVE his owners immensely. Update from foster Mom: With his people, he is the BEST dog, and he's good with dogs if they aren't pushy. He's a quick learner, a cuddle bug, and house-trained. He LOVES hiking with me in the woods, has an amazing recall, and loves playing fetch. I believe he would be the best dog on a farm, where he isn't forced to interact with strangers. I strongly believe that when he is off leash, he will choose to avoid strangers as opposed to confronting them. So why has this amazing already trained pup been with us so long? He doesn't do too well with strangers. We've gotten people interested, but seemingly they seem to ignore his "wary of new people" bit in his bio, and those who have applied want a friendly dog who is ok with meeting everyone. Are you someone who will allow Blitz to become comfortable with strangers slowly? Maybe an active outdoorsy introvert? Or okay with leaving your pup at home while you go out to be extroverted? Blitz is AMAZING. He just needs someone who understands he isn't too fond of people until he feels safe with them. This means not allowing others to approach him on walks and when out and about. No trips to Home Depot or TJ Maxx for this guy. He only needs outings with his new parents! P.S. This means he will take time to warm up to you too! If you are interested in finding out more about Blitz, please fill out an adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/BRO-A-67 Blitz is being fostered in Grafton. Story
Say hello to Alice, a 1-year-old Bull Terrier mix who’s 45 pounds of pure puppy joy and ears that may or may not double as satellite dishes. 📡 She’s sweet, she’s bouncy, and she’s got that classic “I’m ready to take on the world” puppy energy—and then some. Alice is the kind of pup who: 🌲 Hikes like a champ – Off-leash? No problem. She loves hitting the trails with her dog pals and frolicking like nature’s very own energizer bunny. 🧠 Eager to learn – She’s a smart cookie who wants to please her people (and maybe score a treat or three). 👧👦 Kid-approved – She’s sweet and snuggly with kids and would happily let them serve as cuddle buddies and snack distributors. 🎾 Play-mode always ON – She’s very puppyish and playful, which is adorable… unless you're an older dog trying to retire in peace. If your dog is more “nap enthusiast” than “tag champion,” they might find Alice’s energy a bit much. Alice is still learning the ropes and definitely needs training—she’s got all the potential and just needs someone patient to help shape it! Note: She had heart surgery and has recovered beautifully. She just needs an echocardiogram check in 18-24 months. If you’re ready to open your home (and heart) to this lovable whirlwind of joy, Alice is ready to bounce right in.
