Story
Meet Jesse James! This 3-year old American Bully is a serious outlaw of LOVE and came to us from local animal control after his owner could no longer care for him. Jesse James is desperately looking to connect and will unapologetically steal your heart. His past life was reminiscent of the Wild West, and Jesse craves a stable and loving forever family and human connection with a worried intensity. He soulfully stares into the eyes of everyone he meets wondering if they may be “the one”. Don’t worry JJ; we’re working on it and the best is yet to come! Jesse’s other crimes include lying horizontal in the bed and strrrrrrretching out, blowing bubbles out the sides of his mouth when excited, and looking like a tough guy when he’s actually a baby at heart. You can regularly find him galloping with glee in the yard, checking out his own goofy smile in the mirror, or using his bowflex. But don’t let his beefy build fool you…Jesse might be a musclehead, but is definitely a brand-new soul, taking in all that the world has to offer with wide, round, amber eyes filled with softness and childlike innocence. And that blockhead…McDreamy! JJ is a dog-friendly and cat-friendly stage 5 clinger looking for a new gang all his own! One fueled by love who can provide comfort and security after his tumultuous past. Due to Jesse’s size and lack of history, older kids would be best for this big man. Jesse James’s top priorities: 1. A kind family with gentle hands and hearts to love and pamper JJ for all of his days. 2. Humans who crave physical closeness and aren’t afraid to take snuggling to the next level…sleeping with humans in bed and snuggling on the couch is a must for Jesse. 3. A family who will keep this meathead safe from public perception and preconceived notions by being a responsible bully owner.April 21, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
Meet Frankie! This 2-year old fawn merle stunner came to us from our friends at local animal control after her owner could no longer care for her. It’s easy to notice Frankie’s strikingly bright blue eyes…we don’t call her Ol’ Blue Eyes for nothing! They are vividly captivating and we all know it! But it’s also easy to notice there is some potential impairment in those ice-hued baby blues. The good news is…Frankie can definitely see (and hear)! She is headed to an ophthalmologist in a few weeks to have a professional give her the once over!  Fly Me to the Moon - Frankie is AMAZING! She has a sweet, gentle, mellow, AND playful nature and is a natural entertainer. She is soooo easy to love! She loves to snuggle, loves kongs, is great in the car, amazing on leash, and keeps herself busy in the house while her foster mom works from home. She gently mouths while receiving affection with the softest lips and is an easy-going friend. She loves nature and the outdoors and we would consider her an expert scat finder (which is an important job and someone has to do it!).  Frankie tries to engage the resident cat in her foster home in play but doesn’t get upset if he swats or hisses. And she enjoys sleeping on the bed or couch with him. She has been great around the dogs she’s met – wanting to engage in appropriate play. Frankie is also somewhat cautious in new situations and can be a bit worried. She has had multiple homes in her short life and needs her next stop to be her last stop. But she bonds (and trusts!) quickly with her humans. Due to her size and lack of history, older kids would be best for this unique and stunning rat packer. Frankie’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family that is up to the task of snuggling in bed every night. Seriously…non-snugglers need not apply for this cuddle horse and a half. 2. A family who would love to explore the outdoors through the eyes of this innocent soul. 3. A family up who wants to commit to loving this angel forever – she has been bounced around to multiple homes in her young life through no fault of her own and is GREAT despite humans failing her.April 21, 2024, 6:20 pm

Story
Since Lincoln's arrival, he has been a gentleman and enjoys showing off all the tricks he can do! Lincoln knows how to sit, lay down, give paw and speak. He is strong on a leash, but the help of a harness makes walking much easier. Lincoln enjoys playing with toys and getting attention. Lincoln also needs to be the only pet. While here at the shelter, Lincoln has meet a couple of other dogs and does not like them. Lincoln has a hard time focusing when they are around and needs a home where he will not be in a busy neighborhood full of them. He is happy when meeting new people and cannot wait to be a part of a family again. As for kids, Lincoln is hoping to find a household with older kids that can participate in taking him for daily walks. Otherwise, an adult home would suit him just fine. Story
Handsome Hershey is a very shy, kind and wonderful boy! He appreciates gentle handling, and is looking for an adopter with previous experience owning a dog, who can help boost his confidence. This gentle soul is worth getting to know. Since arriving at the shelter Hershey is learning to walk on leash and enjoys playing with other gentle dogs and spending time with volunteers. Hershey may do well in a home with other calm dogs, who can help him adjust to his new surroundings but they would have to meet first. Treats and toys are just one way to this boy's heart. Having a reserved disposition, this sweet boy is looking for a quiet, patient home. If there are to be children in the home, they should be older teens who have been around dogs before. Story
Snuggly and silly, Wilson is a real pup at heart. At seven and a half years old Wilson still enjoys chasing after squeaky toys and making you laugh. Putting a smile on your face is Wilson's top priority. Watching him stretch out frog leg style, roll on his back in his dog bed or race full speed in the yard will definitely brighten your day. Wilson has a smile that is contagious. We first met Wilson when he was just six months old. He has enjoyed family life and through no fault of his own finds himself at the shelter once again. He is with old friends here but nothing beats a family of his own. Wilson has always had an enthusiastic zest for life mixed with a tentative yet playful approach to unfamiliar dogs and people. As he has grown up Wilson's enjoyment for playing with other dogs has diminished and he is looking for a home without other animals. In his younger years Wilson also had a tendency to use his mouth during play when over excited. He displays this behavior less now and prefers to give big sloppy kisses. Another behavior that Wilson has retained from his younger years is his ability to share his thoughts with you through facial expressions. When he is in an unfamiliar or uncomfortable situation, Wilson will look to those he knows well, close his mouth, pull his ears back, widen his eyes and raise one eyebrow at a time looking to a familiar face for direction. As you can see, Wilson has many layers to his personality. Intelligent, playful and shy makes this boy truly one of a kind. His love and devotion to those who know him well is the best reward anyone could offer. Wilson is looking for a home without young children. He is looking forward to finding a home with someone that will continue to take him on the daily walks that he has grown to love here at the shelter. On nice sunny cool days, he likes to lay in the grass in a quiet spot and sniff at the air. Wilson really knows how to live in the moment and can transition from outdoor adventure sidekick to indoor couch potato in an instant. All of our dogs are available by appointment. Please contact dogs@worcesterarl.org to find out more about Wilson. You may also click the link below to fill out an inquiry form.
