Madea's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Madea's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=008192) to learn even more about Madea!
Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Madea is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses.

Madea is our fourth foster dog with MPR, and (knock on wood) she might just be the most well-behaved and easiest one so far! When we first picked her up from MPR after her long trip from Kentucky, we bathed her at MPR HQ. Despite all the new surroundings and stimulation, Madea was calm and relaxed. She showed no sensitivity during the bath, didn’t fidget or move around, and seemed happy to be cleaned—a great first impression!
We’re thrilled to report that Madea hasn’t had a single accident while staying with us. She’s fully potty trained and also fantastic about getting into her crate. The “worst” reaction we’ve had was a brief whine lasting less than 30 seconds the first time she went in, but since then, she’s settled in beautifully. We use the crate in the evenings or when we’re not home, but otherwise, she’s been staying in a spare room. We’ve monitored her with a camera, and she shows no signs of anxiety or stress. Most of the time, she’s sprawled out on the bed we’ve provided, relaxing like she owns the place.
Madea is incredibly friendly and loves to shower us with affection. She’s a kisser and absolutely adores giving licks, while also soaking up all the rubs and cuddles she can get. She quickly forgets her size and will happily try to slide onto your lap just to get closer. Despite coming from Kentucky, she’s transitioned to city life without a hitch. She’s completely unbothered by loud cars, bikes, joggers, basketballs, skateboards, or elevators. While Madea is great on a leash, walking calmly without pulling or dragging (see video), she does have a small prey drive. Squirrels and pigeons can sometimes tempt her to pull, but it’s nothing unmanageable.
Madea’s love for food is another of her charming traits. She eagerly devours her 1.75 cups of kibble in under 10 seconds and is happy to take kibble as treats, which makes training sessions a breeze. Her food motivation, combined with her sweet personality, makes her an eager and responsive learner.
All in all, Madea has been an absolute joy to foster. She’s calm, affectionate, and adaptable, thriving in both her downtime at home and her adventures in the city. Madea’s loving nature, well-mannered behavior, and eagerness to please make her a truly special companion, and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves.
