Story
Meet Kylo, a resilient pup who was originally rescued from a Texas shelter, overcoming a broken jaw and a bad skin condition. Life improved dramatically for Kylo when he made his way to New Jersey, where he was adopted for a time but returned when his adopters couldn’t provide the time and training he needed. At about 5 years old and 45 pounds, Kylo is a playful dog who thrives with plenty of chew toys and the company of another balanced dog that can match his energy as he has enjoyed many play dates and sleepovers with a volunteer’s pup!  He is neutered, current on shots and microchipped.  Kylo gets a bit anxious in social situations and is most comfortable when given a quiet space while company is around (he's fine with it and we'll even provide a white noise machine for him!). Despite his initial nervousness, Kylo's a bundle of joy with a playful spirit who enjoys being carried around like a baby by his favorite volunteer. He would flourish in a home with a confident handler.  Kylo is looking for an active adopter who has time to spend with him, as he loves attention and will curl up in your lap given the chance. He’s also housetrained, goes to the door when nature calls, and is incredibly food-motivated—give him a treat, and he'll gladly follow your lead! Plus, he's a fan of car rides, making him the perfect travel buddy. Kylo's adoption fee is $415. If you’re ready for an energetic companion with a heart full of love, apply to adopt Kylo Lonestar at www.EHRDOGS.org!September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

Story
Introducing Rubie (formerly Hagrid Clayton)! This handsome pittie mix is about 4 and a half years old, weighs 54 pounds, and is searching for a loving home. Rubie was found as a stray and ended up on the "urgent list" at a local animal control through no fault of his own. Despite his rough start, he's proven to be a friendly boy who enjoys meeting new people! This silly boy absolutely loves belly rubs and will happily roll over for them whenever he gets the chance! With moderate energy, Rubie is well-behaved, housetrained, and sleeps soundly through the night in his crate. He's looking for an experienced home with either a single owner or a couple who can share responsibilities in caring for him. Don't miss out on the chance to see Rubie's charming personality in action—check out his video on his webpage to watch him play! This playful pup enjoys his toys but prefers not to share them, so he would thrive best in a home where he can enjoy toys solo. Rubie is a smart boy who knows several commands, such as sit, down, wait, and touch; and he’s eager to learn! If you're ready to welcome a loyal companion into your life, fill out an adoption application at www.ehrdogs.org and request Rubie by name.September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

Story
Meet Turtle, a sweet, goofy, handsome pup of 2 years weighing in at 55 lbs, who is on the hunt for his forever home! Turtle's journey began with his pup siblings named Rabbit and Squirrel. One day, the trio enjoyed a fun car ride with their former owner to visit a local dog park. They were so excited to be going to play and run. But then, they heard something. It was the sound of the car they knew and the owner they loved driving away without them. Suddenly alone, their happiness quickly turned into confusion and panic. But 11th Hour Rescue stepped in, bringing them to safety and helping them to find new and loving homes. Squirrel and Rabbit have been adopted while Turtle is still looking for his special place. Turtle is house-trained and gets along with other dogs after a proper introduction. Turtle loves to play with toys and can keep you entertained with his antics! Despite his size, he enjoys pretending he is a lap pet because he loves being close to his people. He may be a bit shy initially, but don’t let that fool you—once he bonds with you, he’ll be your loyal shadow. His adoption fee is $415. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped, too. If you have the loving, furever home where Turtle can feel safe and cherished then please apply to adopt him at EHRdogs.org and be sure to ask for this sweet boy by name, TURTLE NJ!September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

Story
Petey came to EHR along with his brother Wagner when they were puppies. Both were adopted but now Petey has been returned to EHR's care. Being back at the kennel has been very stressful for Petey, but he has some great volunteer friends who have nothing but good things to say about him. He has lost his confidence and can be nervous with new places & things, but gives you unconditional love once he trusts. He looks to his people for direction and confidence, so he would benefit from experienced owners who can help him with this. He has gone through obedience training and is a fun loving boy. He absolutely loves going for car rides, too! Petey gets along with other dogs, but we think he would do best in a home without children right now. Can you help Petey get his second chance at finding a true forever home? If so, please fill out an application at EHRDOGS.ORG and be sure to ask for him by name! You will not be sorry you did!September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

Story
Meet Brock, the goofy bundle of energy who’s guaranteed to melt your heart with his sweet, playful antics. This curious boy has moved around a lot in his short life and is now on the hunt for his forever family. He’s a fantastic addition to any active household, whether it’s an adventurous couple, an outdoorsy family, or anyone seeking a hiking or running buddy! Eager to please and incredibly treat-motivated, Brock is quick to pick up new obedience skills and is always looking for his next learning opportunity. Since he’s still figuring out how to handle his excitement, he’d thrive best in a home with experienced dog owners who can keep up with his lively spirit. The youngest residents should be at least teenagers.  After a good play session, Brock is perfectly content to entertain himself with his toys or hang with you on the couch to watch a movie. At bedtime, Brock curls up quietly in his crate and sleeps all night long. He’s a sucker for car rides and loves to join you as the perfect copilot. He's got a knack for finding dogs that match his energetic personality, having already made several buddies at the kennel (check out the video of him playing with his buddy Huck).  Ready for a sweet, goofy companion who’ll bring loads of joy to your life? Head over to ehrdogs.org and mention Brock by name when you apply!September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

Rusty is a 3 year-old, 45-pound bundle of joy who's always ready for a good game of tug-o-war or a cuddle session. This charming little muscleman has mastered the art of melting hearts with his adorable wiggle butt and soulful eyes. He's well-mannered, gentle, and house-trained, making him an ideal family companion. Rusty is eager to learn and already has an array of commands to impress you with, while always ready to learn more.  Despite being left behind when his owner moved, Rusty stayed hopeful, loyally waiting on the porch for their return. Luckily, the kind neighbors gave him food and a temporary place to rest his head until he was transported up to us in NJ. Now, Rusty's on the hunt for a new home to shower with love and wiggly affection. He'll happily cuddle up for snuggles and employ his irresistible puppy-dog eyes to score a taste of your lunch (hopefully you weren’t too hungry!). Ready to bring this sweet, heart-stealing pup home? WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals’ lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with an adoption donation. Meet Dillon. He's a sweet and energetic 3 year old pitbull mix at around 68 lbs. He absolutely loves love and is a huge cuddle bug. In the time we have had him, he has never known a stranger and wants scratches from every person he meets. He loves any chew toy he can get and will chase any ball you throw though he doesn't quite understand the concept of fetching yet. He is still working on his manners but is very quick to please. We think he would be happiest as a solo dog mainly because he wants all of your attention and love. Story
Lucy is a beautiful little Boxer mix girl, about 10 years old and 40 lbs, who loves going for walks and playing outdoors.  She’s had a fair amount of training and knows her basic commands, but as with any dog, she could use an owner who will keep up her training. Lucy is cautious upon meeting new people but once she trusts you, her loving side shines through.  She has a strong personality that requires an experienced dog owner. Lucy loves to go for rides in the car, walks at the park, swimming, playing with her toys, and spending time with her favorite volunteers. She has spent far too long waiting for her forever family to come along (almost 7 years in the shelter...). Adopters are often turned off by the fact that she will require multiple meets to learn its ok to trust you. Will anybody take the time to love Lucy..? If you’d be interested in meeting Lucy, please fill out an application and be sure to mention her name!September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

Story
Meet Violet Beauregarde Lonestar, a 6.5-year-old, 60-pound bundle of energy! Saved from a Texas shelter with minutes to spare, this beautiful girl is eager to find her forever home. She would thrive with active owners who can match her energy level, and although she's good with dogs, she appreciates canine friends who mind their manners. Violet loves a good game of fetch and will spend hours in our kiddie pools if we let her.  Violet is excellent in the car and a superb walking companion; she even enjoys a good run with her volunteer friends. She is sweet and cuddly but sometimes prone to over-excitement, so she would do best in a home with older children, if any. An owner with some dog experience, who can provide structure, rules, and a quiet home will be her perfect match. Since she can become protective of her people and space, she may need to be put away when guests come over, but she's perfectly fine with that! Ready to give Violet Beauregarde Lonestar the loving environment she deserves? Fill out a canine application and mention her name!September 14, 2024, 5:08 pm

The name Farrah means happiness and joy and this pup certainly lives up to that name, being a sheer delight to have around!! At 3 years old and 75 lbs, she’s the perfect mix of playful energy and sweet affection. Don’t let her size fool you—Farrah thinks she’s a lap dog! She loves snuggling up for belly rubs and cuddle sessions with all her heart. She is house-trained and crate-trained. She knows basic commands such as sit, stay, lay down, and does well on car rides. Farrah is good with other dogs and adores children (see both her videos on her EHR profile).  She is currently in foster with children, a pup sibling, and parakeets with no problems! She would make a perfect fit for a family setting! Farrah is shy at first and timid of some loud noises, but with patience, encouragement, and perhaps some of her favorite treats, she blossoms into a confident and loving companion. She is also playful and enjoys a good game of fetch.  Her foster mom says her shining attribute is that she gives the best kisses! Farrah is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $415. Ready to invite this absolute doll of a dog into your home?
