He loves going on walks, sniffing the grass and playing fetch. Athena has lots of energy and loves to run around and play. One of her favorite games is tug of war. She is a love bug and is a great kiss dispenser. Both dogs are amazing with kids and adults, but do not want to be with other dogs. Ruthie's story is very sad. Her owners (never found) tied her to a telephone pole at a gas station in the middle of the night on a cold winter's night. Two young men who pulled in to get gas early in the morning saw her and took her into their car. They then contacted us to see if we could take her in. She was so scared and freezing cold she just cowered in fear for about a week. We are convinced that she was physically abused as well. Little by little she started to come out of her shell. We left her in our nursery building for a few weeks because we thought she may be pregnant. It was obvious that she had had a litter at some point in her life. Turns out she wasn't pregnant so we put her in with the general population where she has thrived. She loves playing with the puppies, she's great with cats and wonderful with children as all Pitties are. She has been spayed, is heart worm negative, fully vaccinated, crate trained and house broken to a doggie door. She is small for a Pittie so we call her a "Pocket Pittie" Ruthie needs her forever home, could that be you? She is ready for immediate transport. We got a call from a friend of the rescue. The woman told us that she knew of a puppy that was either chained outside or in a crate that was covered with boards and cement blocks. The puppy had injured his eye and had also pulled out one of his claws. When we got to the residence, he was tied to the house on a huge chain. The crate was right next to him and was barely big enough for him to even fit inside. It had boards on all sides that were held in place with cement blocks, basically it was a coffin. We told the owner that we would take him to the vet and begged for her to surrender him to us. She eventually agreed and we rushed him to the vet right away. Luckily neither injury was too serious and his eye healed pretty quickly. His little claw is slowly growing back. He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. We call them Pit-A-Dors! Half Lab, half Pit Bull. This little guy is more than ready for a good home! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! Sage is two years old. She’s what she would call a pocket pity she’s about 32 to 35 pounds. She was surrendered only because the owners couldn’t have a dog any longer. She loves people she likes to sit next to you on a bench and just enjoy your company she likes to be pets, she likes most of the dogs but not every dog she could live with children, but they should be over 12. He was very nervous and afraid when he first came in, but once he settled, we found that he was probably the smartest dog at the shelter, everyone loves him however he’s very strong and although he is dog friendly and people friendly, he needs basic manners. He needs to learn things like how to behave in the house how to not pull on the leash things that are easy to learn if he has some training, he could live with kids over 13 and of course he would have to meet another dog to make sure they got along before , he could live with them

Chunky was removed from his home for neglect by a local NY shelter. His owner was hanging him out of a window. He had trauma in his past. He was returned to rescue and is now living in our trainers home successfully . Our trainer said if she were younger she would adopt him. There is nothing wrong with him. She gave him the time he needed to decompress from the stress of his situation.

Yara is doing great in her foster home in Maryland. She has been making a lot of improvements with her housetraining. She is a very sweet puppy who loves to play with her toys. She also enjoys being around her two boxer foster siblings. Yara is not a fan of walking on leash, so she would do best with a securely fenced yard while she works on leash training. Yara was spayed last week and she is recovering nicely. She is now up to date on all vet care and ready for a forever home of her own!
