Story
Meet Honey! Honey is a 7-8 year old Pittie mix who’s all about the quiet, cozy life. At around 60 lbs, she’s got the perfect size to cuddle up next to you on the couch or nap the day away. Despite her past, she’s one of the sweetest and most tolerant dogs you’ll ever meet—especially once she trusts you.Honey gets along with all other dogs, big or small, though she’s more of a `chill companion` than an active player. Puppies can be a bit much for her (she’s not a fan of face-to-face puppy energy!), but she’s great with adults and older dogs. She’s not at all aggressive, and will happily move away from food or toys if another dog or person approaches—no guarding here! This lady is house trained, does well in her crate, and is very calm around kids (ages 7-17). While she’s gentle and patient with them, Honey would probably do best in a home with older children who are a little more mindful of her need for a calm environment. Loud, fast movements or sudden noises do startle her, and she might retreat to another room, but that’s just her way of saying, “I need a little space.” Honey’s energy level is on the lower side, so she’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a quieter, more relaxed dog. She’s not a fan of loud or busy environments, but with some patience and love, she’s really come a long way. Honey is a little more nervous around men but has made real progress, even initiating contact with her foster dad and older foster brother. Honey is looking for a family who understands her need for patience and kindness. With a stable, loving dog by her side to give her emotional support, she’ll continue to blossom and show her true, affectionate nature. If you’ve got a calm, patient household and a soft spot for a sweet soul who’s been through a lot, Honey might be the perfect addition to your family. Could Honey be your loyal, gentle companion? Come meet her today! Honey is in a loving foster home in the Houston, TX area. Adoption application: https://www.this-is-houston.org/adopt/adopt-application

Story
10 weeks old puppy Godiva is the most velcro of the group. She is such a human oriented girl. Even during play, if she sees her human, she will leave the group to come get some pets. Godiva and her 8 siblings were born on the streets of Texas to a sweet mama Penny who raised them under a trailer, whose owner was feeding them. When they got a little older and started running on the streets and were at risk of being runover, the owner contacted our rescue. Godiva is very smart, sweet, and medium energy puppy, who deserves to find the best homes. They are playful but not hyperactive. They can be an only child, or have siblings. They are good with dogs, cats, kids, people, everyone. Godiva was born around the first week of September and will grow up to be a medium size pup. Their mom is only 40 lb. Godiva is current on his shots, and is microchipped and kept on deworming schedule, and heartworm and flea preventative. As with all our pups and kitties, she will get fixed before he goes to his forever home. This family is currently being fostered in Texas, but can travel to any state, even Canada to the right home. Their adoption fee includes their vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter surgery and recovery, heartworm and flea prevention), a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, Harness and leash. To meet this gorgeous pup via facetime or whatsapp or other video chat apps, please send a completed application via www.savesomesouls.com Yards, if any, must be adequately and fully fenced to adopt our pups. We do not accept electric or underground fences. Our dogs are fully assessed by foster parents, vets and behaviorists, as well as videos and video chats are available to observe their manners in public. We are extremely transparent and like to share everything negative and positive with the adopters, to ensure it's a good fit and they are not returned to us, as the trips are very stressful on them. Houston is home to million strays, many who are abandoned, many born on the streets, many who escaped while living in the yard, which is common in Texas. Since our rescue does not get grants that shelters get, we use adoption fee to help the pups and kitties in our care. Your adoption fee goes towards vetting and feeding our long term and permanent fosters, and unadoptable pups, as well as towards the monthly care and preventatives etc of our pets. By adopting one pup from our rescue, you make room for another dog to be rescued our high kill shelter, thus becoming an integral part of our mission to save as many unfortunate dogs off the streets and shelters as possible. So Thank you for choosing to rescue, and not go to a breeder.
