Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Heartworm PositiveHi I'm Belinda, A beautiful brindle boxer who is about 3 years old.  I am petite, strikingly beautiful brindle female boxer with a heart as big as my soulful eyes.  My journey has had a rough start.  The bet thinks that I was a breeding female.  It appears I've had several litters of puppies.  I don't remember, I was never given the chance to care for my puppies just birth them.   Thanks to the loving care of HBR I received the medical care I needed.  Now, I am healthy, happy and ready to find my forever home.   I am a Toy Enthusiast, I adore toys especially my lamb chop and I don't chew them up.  I just play with them.   I am a bundle of energy in a petite package, always up for a run in the yard or a brisk walk around the neighborhood.  I am happiest when I am with my people.  I know how to form strong bonds with them but it might take me a day or so.   While I take a little time to warm up to other dogs, with patience and proper introductions, I can make canine friends.  I do well with older, senior dogs that are calmer.  I get along fine with my foster's dog Dolly.  She is 9 and is a golden pyrenees.  She is a big senior girl and I like to hang out with her.  I'm always ready for an adventure and loves going for car rides.  I love mealtime and I'll do just about anything for a treat.  I'd be a great running partner.   I am looking for an active family who will understand my past and appreciate my resilient spirit.  I have some separation anxiety, not overwhelming, but I do miss my people when they are away.  I am crate trained and I don't try to get out of my crate.  I am a good girl in my crate.  I do not destroy things or I have not tried to break out of my crate.  But I do talk a lot and let you know that I miss you.   If you are searching for a devoted, playful, and beautiful boxer to join your family, I am ready to start my new chapter with you!  Give me a chance and the ending I deserve.   Love Belinda We transport our dogs up North and out of Texas. Story
Meet Honey! Honey is a 7-8 year old Pittie mix who’s all about the quiet, cozy life. At around 60 lbs, she’s got the perfect size to cuddle up next to you on the couch or nap the day away. Despite her past, she’s one of the sweetest and most tolerant dogs you’ll ever meet—especially once she trusts you.Honey gets along with all other dogs, big or small, though she’s more of a `chill companion` than an active player. Puppies can be a bit much for her (she’s not a fan of face-to-face puppy energy!), but she’s great with adults and older dogs. She’s not at all aggressive, and will happily move away from food or toys if another dog or person approaches—no guarding here! This lady is house trained, does well in her crate, and is very calm around kids (ages 7-17). While she’s gentle and patient with them, Honey would probably do best in a home with older children who are a little more mindful of her need for a calm environment. Loud, fast movements or sudden noises do startle her, and she might retreat to another room, but that’s just her way of saying, “I need a little space.” Honey’s energy level is on the lower side, so she’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a quieter, more relaxed dog. She’s not a fan of loud or busy environments, but with some patience and love, she’s really come a long way. Honey is a little more nervous around men but has made real progress, even initiating contact with her foster dad and older foster brother. Honey is looking for a family who understands her need for patience and kindness. With a stable, loving dog by her side to give her emotional support, she’ll continue to blossom and show her true, affectionate nature. If you’ve got a calm, patient household and a soft spot for a sweet soul who’s been through a lot, Honey might be the perfect addition to your family. Could Honey be your loyal, gentle companion? Come meet her today! Honey is in a loving foster home in the Houston, TX area. Adoption application: https://www.this-is-houston.org/adopt/adopt-application

Story
Meet Sandy!Sandy is a sweet 2-4 year-old Pittie girl weighing about 50 pounds, and she’s truly the full package; gentle, friendly, easygoing, and eager to please.Dog-Friendly:Sandy gets along wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. She’s especially submissive and respectful with older female dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, tolerant canine friend to help guide her.Kid-Friendly:This girl adores children. She’s gentle, kind, and loves soaking up hugs, snuggles, and attention from little ones.Cats:She hasn’t been officially cat-tested, but she shows no prey drive in the yard and doesn’t chase squirrels, so she may do well with proper introductions.House & Crate Manners:Sandy is potty-trained and has had zero accidents in the house. She’s also a crate lover—her kennel is her safe, cozy spot, and she’ll happily nap there during the day.Energy Level:Medium. Sandy gets excited to go outside but is otherwise calm and relaxed. Indoors, she moves about gently and even her playtime stays low-key.Training & Behavior:No guarding issuesNo leash reactivityNo aggressionNo separation anxietyShy at first, but not fearfulExcellent recall (still improving and should not be trusted off-leash in open spaces yet)Extremely food-motivated and loves training gamesPersonality:Sandy is a tender, loving soul who wants to be everyone’s friend. New environments can make her a bit shy at first, but with time, patience, and reassurance, she opens up beautifully. A steady dog companion would be a great confidence-booster for her.Why You’ll Love Her:Sandy is a truly wonderful dog—sweet, polite, affectionate, and eager to belong. She’s ready to be the loyal companion of a family who will give her the love, structure, and reassurance she needs to continue blossoming. If you’re looking for a gentle-hearted best friend, Sandy might just be your perfect match!
