Story
Hi there! My name is Rainy. My brother Scooby and I came from a shelter in Upper Michigan for a fresh start. We are 2 years old. Our past wasn't a lovely place - we were removed from a neglectful home. We're trying not to let that get us down though! We are still as happy as can be! While we would love to have a home together in the future, we are not bonded. If you are willing to take us both though, we would love that! We lived with other dogs in the past too, but we are a lot of energy and may team up on another dog if given the chance. If we were adopted separately though, I could probably share my home with another dog. It just has to be a good fit. Between the two of us, I am a little more on the calmer side than my brother. If you are looking for a sweet, energetic girl to go on adventures with, I may be just your dog! Come meet me at the shelter! Story
Hi. My name is Luna and I was adopted out and returned after only 6 days because I went after a small dog in the neighborhood. I have been waiting for a home since July. So in the future my new owner will need to be extra careful when there are small dogs around. Please. It is very hard for me to be back at the shelter. I just don't understand being here again.I am a sweet, curious, and sturdy 3 year old gal. I am calm and quiet in my kennel here. I love walks but sometimes I forget how strong I am. Obedience school would be so good for me. I remind everyone at the shelter to enjoy the simple things in life: rolling around in the grass, soaking up the sun, splashing in the pool and playing in the snow. I am always ready for adventure, but I also know how to relax and love a good snuggle. I absolutely love playing with toys. I have been around children and I know how to be careful around them. As active as I am, I would still make a great homebody too. A big comfy bed sounds heavenly. I am looking for my perfect match. I hope it will be with you. Please come to the shelter to meet me. Love, Luna Primary Color: Red Secondary Color: White Weight: 75.1 Age: 3yrs 8mths 1wks

Diesel is a very sweet boy. He does need to be the only dog in the house. I would not suggest any children under the age of 10.

Story
·Intake Reason: Stray·Weight: 65 lbs Known with: ·Cats: Unknown ·Dogs: Can be selective; Likely best with females ·Kids: Unknown ·Personality: IntelligentHi there, my name is Smith; I came into WCHS as a stray, so Smith may be an alias. I have an adventurous spirit and would love to accompany you on long hikes and explore; I happen to be the owner of a spectacular schnoz. I am an active boy who will need plenty of exercise, both physical and mental. I am a tad reactive when I am on a leash or otherwise contained and I see another dog because I feel vulnerable. When I go on walks with volunteers, I have been practicing staying calm and focusing on my person rather than any passing dog. I try and follow the cues I am given like ‘sit' or play the find-it game and get caught up in searching for tasty morsels tossed onto the ground. I do much better when I am off-leash and have been playing with other pooches in some playgroups at the shelter. It is much better for me to have slow and proper introductions to other dogs so I do not think I would like the chaos of a dog park. The folks at WCHS could give you some great tips about the type of polite dog that could be my friend and how to introduce us. I thoroughly enjoy playing with toys and running around with humans. I invented a game called chase-me-chase-me where I run after a toy you toss and then we both run around and chase and jump and play. I am polite with people and allow you to take the toy back and toss it again to continue the game; it is a hoot. I am an affectionate boy and really enjoy snuggles, soft pats and tender scratches; spending time with my peeps is one of my favorite activities. I think I am quite handsome and promise to be a loyal companion forever. I would love to train with you using patient and positive techniques to learn obedience and exquisite manners so I am welcome anywhere we go; it would be great to be your fun-loving sidekick. I hope you stop by to meet me in person; we can get to know each other is a room or play in the courtyard and have a wonderful time together.#2

Story
**Ziba is available for meet and greets by appointment only and is currently in foster! Please call WCHS to set up an appointment so our dog trainer can introduce her to you and demonstrate the sign language she is learning.**· Intake Reason: surrendered, owner was unable to care forKnown with:· Cats: lived with 2 cats, and liked to play with them· Dogs: went to dog parks previously, does okay in WCHS playgroups· Kids: exposed to various ages· Personality: likes to jump up and tends to pull on leash, likes tennis balls and playing fetchGreetings, my name is Ziba and I am 40-pounds of special. My name means ‘beautiful' and I think that is very fitting because I am enchanting. My world is very quiet because I am deaf. Since I cannot hear commands, people have been using hand signals to communicate with me; I know the signal for ‘sit' and ‘good girl'. Because I could not hear you calling after me, I will be counting on you to keep me safe and out of trouble. I know that some folks who have a deaf pooch in the family use a vibration collar (no shock, please) to let the dog know you want their attention. I also appreciate it when humans do not sneak up on me or surprise me. In my previous home I had the luxury of roaming about freely when I was alone and also got to share my person's bed at night; that was fabulous. When I needed to go outside, I would sit by the door. When I first come into my new home it would be wise to watch me carefully and also give me plenty of opportunities to get outside to use the facilities. I must confess I am still working on becoming 100% when it comes to house-training. Lots of yummy treats and praise should help me develop that skill. I am a tolerant gal but I have a tendency to get overstimulated, so it would be great if we could work on some settle exercises. I am a smart lass and think it is important to keep my brain busy and engaged so I have been happy with all the enrichment I get at the shelter. I do enjoy romping with other dogs and am sort of a rough player but prefer not to share my toys with them; a girl has got to draw the line somewhere. I enjoy car rides and would love to be your sidekick as we go on many adventures together. I am friendly and outgoing but do prefer a slow and polite introduction to folks I do not know. Give me a few minutes and a couple tasty tidbits and soon we will be BFFs. I hope you stop by to meet me in person; I think it is lovely to increase my circle of friends and we could have a magnificent life together.#2
