Story
Hi. My name is Luna and I have been waiting patiently for over 5 months for my new forever home. I am a sweet, curious, and sturdy 3 year old gal. I am calm and quiet in my kennel here. I love walks but sometimes I forget how strong I am. Obedience school would be so good for me. I remind everyone at the shelter to enjoy the simple things in life: rolling around in the grass, soaking up the sun, splashing in the pool and playing in the snow. I am always ready for adventure, but I also know how to relax and love a good snuggle. I absolutely love playing with toys. I have been around children and I know how to be careful around them. No cats or small dogs please- I think they are toys. As active as I am, I would still make a great homebody too. A big comfy bed sounds heavenly. I am looking for my perfect match. I hope it will be with you. Please come to the shelter to meet me. Love, Luna Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 75.1 Age: 3yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
Hi there. My name is Roadie and I'm not sure why I am still at the shelter waiting oh so patiently for my forever home. I am about 3 years old and I was brought to the shelter because I was given to a nice person at the dog park but they weren't able to keep me. This shelter environment has been a bit overwhelming, but our awesome staff and volunteers have really helped me to not be as shy as I used to be. I am much calmer once I am outside or in a quiet area. I have become a great walker who loves to stop for all the sniffs. When I walk, I have a bit of a prance and my ears bounce. It is so cute! I would do great with a family who can give me extra time, patience and especially love. A quiet home with older kids would be helpful for me as I come out of my shell and build trust, but I could live with another dog as long as there is proper introduction. Are you my forever family? Please meet me at the shelter and find out. Love, Roadie Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 56.63 Age: 3yrs 6mths 0wks

Story
Howdy, my name is Dallas and I am a fun-loving guy. I lived with a very nice family most of my life; I had some kids to play with, went to dog parks, had a fenced yard to play in and learned life skills like housetraining; I even lived with a couple kitties and was friendly to them. When I started to protect the furniture from my young masters, it caused some disruption in the home and I came to WCHS to find a new place to live. I was respectful of my person's things and had the luxury of roaming free when I was alone. I must confess that I am not a fan of crates and find them quite confining. At the shelter I am learning to be more comfortable in a crate because I have a soft-sided crate in my kennel that I can go into and out of whenever I want to. When I get to my new home, I would be willing to continue practicing with a crate; maybe you could take the door off one and make it available to me. A cozy blanket and some fun toys might make it inviting such that I could come and go as I please and become more comfortable hanging out in a crate. I am hoping for a calm assertive leader who will set some boundaries in a patient and positive manner because I am a sensitive lad who just needs guidance. A while back I lived with a Lab and also did well with a Ridgeback at my dog sitter's place; I have also been enjoying participating in the playgroups at WCHS. When I am around other pooches I would appreciate if no food or resources like bones are in the area because I prefer to enjoy those things in private. Speaking of eating, I would rather not use metal bowls; I find the racket they can make very unnerving. Perhaps a plastic or ceramic bowl would be an option; I could even enjoy my meals using a foraging mat to make it a fun and mentally engaging activity. In my previous home I had learned to sit by the door and whine when I needed to use the outdoor facilities. When I come into my new home it would be wise for me to have plenty of opportunities to get outside until we learn each other's signals and routines. I have been described as friendly, affectionate, playful and calm; I enjoy a rousing game of tug and think bubbles are wonderfully entertaining. I am a young lad who needs plenty of exercise to stay happy and healthy; I think going for walks is a spectacular way to explore and spend time with my person. Stop by to meet me in person because I think you will agree that I am 74 pounds of stupendous.#1

Story
Yahoo, my name is Teddy and I am a spitfire and a perpetual motion machine. I was a stray at MADACC (Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission) before I was transferred to WCHS. I am hoping for an active family who help me grow into the best pooch ever; I have enormous potential. I am adorable, lively and fun but I do have a ton to learn, discover and explore. I am counting on you to help me safely navigate the world and experience new things each day to allow me to grow into a confident young dog. So many things that seem common to you are completely new to me. I think I would be game for any activity that we could do together; I love to spend time with humans. When we are out and about, perhaps we can play dog parkour to keep my mind thinking and build self-assuredness. I have already shown that I readily hop up on a bench just to sit next to the volunteer who is walking me. I do need some practice walking on a leash because that is a new activity for me and I tend to head in random directions on a whim. I weigh about 38 pounds now but I do have plans to get bigger so it would be lovely to take some classes with you so that I learn manners and proper social skills. I hope to be your constant companion; to be welcome everywhere we go I know I must be polite. I also know I have to practice something called house-training so I know proper potty behavior. A routine, lots of yummy treats and praise will go a long way to helping me master house-training when I potty outside. Puppies and dogs need love, exercise, mental stimulation and consistency to be healthy, happy and confident. I would be very open to all sorts of housemates; I can be a bit mischievous and may find any other critter as a potential playmate, so they will need to understand that about me. I often explore the world with my mouth and while I am teething, I like to chew; my little puppy teeth are very sharp, so if I am around children we should always be supervised and I should be offered acceptable things to chew on. It is important that children learn about respecting me, too, and treat me gently because I am fragile and sensitive. Raising a puppy is a big responsibility, a lot of work, and it may interrupt your sleep cycle for a bit, but a courteous and well-behaved dog is certainly worth the investment and I promise to be loyal, love you unconditionally and be a companion forever. Stop by to meet me in person; I think we could have a splendid time together.#1
