Story
**Ziba is being adopted out from her foster home, where she's learning sign language! Please call WCHS to set up an appointment if you are interested in meeting with her.**· Intake Reason: surrendered, owner was unable to care forKnown with:· Cats: lived with 2 cats, and liked to play with them· Dogs: went to dog parks previously, does well in WCHS playgroups; is in foster with multiple dogs· Kids: exposed to various ages· Personality: AffectionateGreetings, my name is Ziba and I am 40-pounds of special. My name means ‘beautiful' and I think that is very fitting because I am enchanting. My world is very quiet because I am deaf. Since I cannot hear commands, people have been using hand signals to communicate with me; I know the signal for ‘sit' and ‘good girl'. Because I could not hear you calling after me, I will be counting on you to keep me safe and out of trouble. I know that some folks who have a deaf pooch in the family use a vibration collar (no shock, please) to let the dog know you want their attention. I also appreciate it when humans do not sneak up on me or surprise me. In my previous home I had the luxury of roaming about freely when I was alone and also got to share my person's bed at night; that was fabulous. When I needed to go outside, I would sit by the door. When I first come into my new home it would be wise to watch me carefully and also give me plenty of opportunities to get outside to use the facilities. I must confess I am still working on becoming 100% when it comes to house-training. Lots of yummy treats and praise should help me develop that skill. I am a tolerant gal but I have a tendency to get overstimulated, so it would be great if we could work on some settle exercises. I am a smart lass and think it is important to keep my brain busy and engaged so I have been happy with all the enrichment I get at the shelter. I do enjoy romping with other dogs and am sort of a rough player but prefer not to share my toys with them; a girl has got to draw the line somewhere. I enjoy car rides and would love to be your sidekick as we go on many adventures together. I am friendly and outgoing but do prefer a slow and polite introduction to folks I do not know. Give me a few minutes and a couple tasty tidbits and soon we will be BFFs. I hope you stop by to meet me in person; I think it is lovely to increase my circle of friends and we could have a magnificent life together.#2

Story
Meet the one and only Miko! Miko is a super sweet boy who loves people and seems to genuinely enjoy being around others. Miko gives kisses, loves belly rubs, and enjoys taking long walks. His passions include: tennis balls, playing with other pups, and treats. We've learned that Miko loves playing with most other dogs and likes running zoomies with friends, especially through mud puddles. Miko also loves water and enjoys "bobbing for apples (tennis balls)" in our dog/kiddy pool. This smart boy knows some basic commands and definitely has the potential to learn more. Miko lived with children previously and would prefer a home without another male dominant dog. Please fill out an application to meet this handsome boy! Please note:- Our website (www.neenahanimalshelter.org) is updated in real time, so we are accepting applications for all animals that are currently listed.-Applications can be downloaded from our website. (http://neenahanimalshelter.org/how-to-adopt.html)- Our shelter no longer has open visiting hours, so a pre-approved application and scheduled appointment is needed prior to meeting any of our animals.

Story
Leo is just the happiest dude with the cutest ears! He loves his people.. and loves to do the little pitty piggy roll into them he's about 1-2yo.. 40# and looking for a house who loves happy hippo energy!! Oklahoma has a pretty cool program to help with their shelter dogs.. it is called "Frieds For Folks" ... where prisoners get the opportunity to be closely watched and learn how to train dogs with positive reinforcement.. so when we get a pup who needs some extra work.. or the shelter is just too full.. we partner with them to help not only set the dogs up for success, but also give prisoners the opportunity to learn and work with dogs... Lea was one of the pups who went through the program.. and here is what his person had to say.. "He is: Leo!! Dear Future Forever Family, Our goal is to help find dogs like Lea their forever home. By potty training, teaching basic obedience, and having fun too!!! Leo is a Black and White Terrier mix with a big heart. On his right side just plain as day! He is young, full of energy, very smart, and eager to learn. Like any young male potty training was a challenge but we got there! Leo has learned his commands very well but distractions can be challenging. He has learned to: Heel, Sit, Down, Touch (your palm with his nose), Look (you in the eye), Place (sit on his mat), Bed (on with all 4 feet), Stay, Wait (at a door or to eat when fed), Off (staying off people or an object, still working on it), Back-up (stop and tell him back-up when he pulls on the leash). He loves to chase his ball, he just don't like to drop it but is working on it, also loves tug-o-war with his rope and is learning to catch too. He will be a great addition to your family, will continue to learn, play and love you and your family for many years to come. I feel you will feel as lucky to get Leo as he will be to get you! Thank you for caring and becoming this great pups Forever Family! P.S. - `Also helpful for going to the vet is the command "Chin", holding your hand out and giving the command he will rest his chin in it. He also gets in his crate when asked and gets a treat when he does." ##2001991##
