American Shorthair kittens & cats in Hanover, Pennsylvania

This poor girl has lived outside for at least 8 years now and she would like to come inside but it hasn't been an option at my mother's house. My mother lives alone, has advanced dementia, and is going to a facility soon, so I need to find a home for this cat as she depends on the food my mother has provided. When she showed up years ago she was already overweight and she had a clipped ear so I assume she is spayed. I do not know if she's ever been inside and is familiar with a litter box, but she has tried to come in the house. I have no idea how old she is. She is cautious with new people but she is affectionate once she knows you, and likes to be brushed. She gets along with the indoor / outdoor cats at my mother's house. She has not been to a vet any time recently. She recently developed a slight limp so she may have arthritis. That and her weight is why I indicated that she has special needs - I don't know of any other issues.

Elva showed up at my mother's house as a stray kitten 10 yrs ago and she still likes to go outside so ideally I would like to find someone who has a place where she could go out, but I think she could be content in a house. She is one of the most intelligent and affectionate cats I have ever met. She gets along with male cats but she doesn't care for females, though she doesn't get aggressive. She is well behaved overall. She has not been to a vet recently but seems to be in good health.

Snickers is a young adult female. She is a very reserved cat at first but does open up. She is good with cats and dogs. She is also friendly and will do good in any home!   Looking for a forever home for Gracie who is a grey/white female with golden eyes around 2 years old. Gracie was on the outside camera for around a year. A month ago, she finally went in a trap for TNR. When she was picked up at the SPCA for return, she was already spayed. She had been someone’s pet at some point. While she was at the SPCA clinic, she had her ear tipped, rabies and distemper shots. She did not have any fleas, ticks, or worms. She has been in my basement adjusting to being an indoor only cat. She has shown no desire to get out of any doors. Because of her trying to survive the outside world dangers, she was very cautious in her new surroundings. She has come a long way in the past month. To make her feel less scared, she has been getting regular brushings which she loves, except for her belly. She loves kitty treats. She bonds with you really quick with the treats and brushing. She eats most canned foods with a side of dry. Gracie is great with the litter box but likes it cleaned daily. She uses a cardboard scratcher and a door mat made of straw materials to sharpen her claws. She is scared of brooms making me believe she may have been abused. I think the best home for her is an adult only home where she is the only pet at this time. My cats and her hiss through a screen. She would need a week or two in a room where she can bond with her adopter and feel safe adjusting to a new environment. Until she felt safe with me, she did have a few hissing moments. If you are an experienced cat person, and can give her the time and patience she needs in a new environment, I think she will blossom into a devoted kitty to you. Updated on 5/2/23 JujuBee (Big Lady). This gorgeous girl lost her owner unexpectedly. She is 11 years old with beautiful emerald green eyes. She does limp. Juju lost weight. Juju is hyperthyroid and will require lifelong meds. She is a sweet girl and loves to be scratched and lounge in the sun. She does have some skin issues and over grooms. Gal Pacino is such a beautiful 6 year old cat who trusts people but not other cats. She wants to be kissed and carried all day. Fractious with other cats but not violent. Hi, I’m Mr Chubbs. Please don’t judge me by my looks. I’ve had a very rough life, but with the help of the nice people at Heavenly Paws who love me, I’m getting better and more dapper every day! I think I’m about 3 years old now. I cry like a baby when I’m left alone or ignored. I was so lonely on the streets, but now that I know what love is, I hate to be left alone. I’m good with other cats and would prefer a home with older kiddos (10 plus). I love kids. I do feel the need to be the center of attention and love to have long conversations. I haven’t been around small kids or dogs but I would probably be nice to them if they are nice to me. Mr. Chubbs has been checked by the vet and is healthy.
