Story
Sweet little Daisy has every reason to distrust people, but like most animals, they are willing to give us a second, and sometimes a fifth, chance. Daisy was abandoned on the streets with her brother when her family moved out and left them behind. A few months later, her brother was attacked and killed by a dog. Luckily for her, a caring neighbor began looking out for her and leaving food. As time passed, it became apparent that little Daisy was just not doing well as an outside cat. Her fur lost it’s shine and Daisy began to get sick. Again the nice neighbors took her in, but unfortunately for her, by then she had contracted FeLV so the neighbors couldn’t keep her. Because there are not nearly enough FeLV rescues, many have a long waitlist. The neighbors were concerned Daisy wouldn’t survive outside in the hot summer so they expanded their search until they found us. The problem was that we were a 16 hour drive away! But the nice neighbors were willing to make that sacrifice for Daisy. And we very quickly understood why. Daisy is so worth it!!!! She is the most lovable little girl! She loves to snuggle with her people whenever she can, but she’s not overly Velcro either. She loves to play with her toys as well, but she’s also ok on her own through the day. She has the most adorable little chirp and will actually have an entire conversation with you, although we admit, sometimes it’s hard to understand what she’s saying. She also has impeccable litter habits and will actually wipe her little paws off before walking away from the litter box. In summary, Daisy is perfect! Like all our cats, Daisy is FeLV positive. If you’d like more information on what that means, feel free to call us at 301.703.1674 or email FureverHomeMD@gmail.com.October 25, 2024, 12:13 am

Story
There is not shortage of survival stories in rescue, but Reese is an absolute miracle. We don’t know how his story started, but Reese was found during the high heat of summer in Texas. Struggling would be an understatement. His skin was raw and irritated, his breathing was labored, he could barely see, and he could hardly move. After ending up with an amazing rescue, Reese was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection, a horrible case of mange, malnourishment, dehydration and entropion issues (his eyelids scraped against his eyeballs). But worst of all, he had a 22 caliber bullet lodged near his spine. But the rescue saw immediately how incredible this boy was and put nine months of love and patience into his rehab. His skin was treated, he received surgery on his eyelid and the bullet was removed. He received physical therapy and over time regained almost nearly full motion. Reese relished being cared for and is a complete love bug. Understandably, he’s shy with strangers at first, but warms up quickly and loves pets and scratches. Once Reese had recovered enough from all the trauma, he was diagnosed with FeLV so was transferred to Furever Home in Maryland. He continues to improve and is the sweetest little man ever. Now he’s ready for his very own family so he can live the rest of his life full of safety and love. Like all our cats, Reese is FeLV positive. Therefore he can only be placed as an only cat or with other cats that are FeLV positive. Story
Valentino is an orange short haired cat that arrived on my doorstep on Valentines day. He is ultra vocal (purrs and meows) very friendly and loves to explore! Likes to be around people or dogs as I have an 8 year old lab mix that he loves to jump on and mess with. Did not intend to get this attached but at this stage I just want him to be happy and loved.

Story
Squeak is an 8 year old black. Found as a kitten at the actual dump, she is feisty affectionate and full of personality. She is super playful, and ready to find her forever home. Squeak needs to be an only child, but is very devoted to her human family. Due to health concerns they can no longer take care of her, but want to ensure that she is in the loving place she deserves!
