Story
FOSTER CARE! Awhoooo! I'm Emilio! I'm a 2 year old, neutered male, 60 pound Chocolate American Staffordshire Terrier / Husky mix and I'm excited to meet you! I'm a very affectionate boy but I can come on a bit strong. It's only because I'm so stoked to see you! I love giving hugs and will try to sit on you. I'm as cuddling and huggable as can be! I also love to run, sniff, jump -- and did I mention jumping?! I'm super great at it. My buddies here at PHS tell me there are times jumping is not appreciated, and I'm doing my best to learn manners. My ideal home will be with adults only who are ready to devote lots of time and energy giving me love, training and exercise. I would do best in a home where I am the only pup for now. Since I'm not always sure who I can give high fives to, I would do best in a home with adults only. I can't wait to be your forever faithful adventure buddy! Emilio ID# A931862 I recently went on a field trip with my favorite volunteer. This is what they had to say about our day together:  Perfect!! Overall he was AMAZINGG. I had him in my house and in my backyard and he wasn’t all over the place or jumpy or anything he was really good, honestly just stayed near me and explored at the same time, whenever I’d call him he’d follow me. He was attached to this random cat toy that was in my backyard and he sunbathed for a chunk of the time. When I picked him up from the shelter, he was anxious for the first 30 mins in the car. He did much better on our car ride back to the shelter. He jumped in perfectly fine and was good in the car, not anxious at all.   Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance.     Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Please note at this time we are doing adoptions by appointments only. Please call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment. Our hours are  11am-6pm (closed major holidays). Interested adopters must arrive at least 1 hour before close.  We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. Story
This is Redvine's second rodeo at our shelter, through no fault of his own. He has a tremendous amount of love and companionship to give, so we really want to see this fantastic boy find his forever home soon! Part of what makes Redvine so special is his puppylike energy. His wigglebutt can knock down anyone under five feet tall, which makes him a less-than-ideal nanny. But if you have older kids and the family has been looking for a four-legged pal to run, hike, swim, or just snuggle with on the couch? He's perfect. * 57 lbs * 5 years old * Sweet and outgoing * Playful * Smart * Crate trained and housebroken * Versatile (couch potato or workout buddy) * Great with people and other dogs in public * Chews on toys, not your belongings * Easily adapts to new environments * Kids older than 12 * Possibly too rough for small dogs and other pets Meet Redvine any afternoon but Monday at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California.

Story
We just don't get it. Buster Brown has been with us forever and gets passed over time after time. He's been waiting so very long to go home. If you give him just five minutes to warm up to you, Buster is the sweetest, funniest, and most well-behaved dog you'll ever meet. He loves to lie at your feet and hang out near you all day. Adopt him and you will never be lonely! Buster is super cuddly. He bonds strongly with his people and just wants to chill and relax - ideally, you work from home or have a lifestyle that allows him to be with you. He loves to have his head scratched and will follow you around. He knows a couple of commands like “sit.” He doesn’t like loud noises and doesn’t like to be surprised so he’ll do best with a quiet home with no other animals or kids. Buster is moderately active and curious, up for meandering walks but not marathons. He is equally happy crashing on your couch and making silly faces at you. Have you ever seen a dog make biscuits? When he's especially contented, Buster has the endearing habit of seizing a pillow in his mouth and "massaging" it with his paws. Buster's Quick Facts: Age: 6 years old Personality: Loves people Quiet home: Probably best Other pets in home: He should be the only one Kids: No Making silly faces: Known as "The Master" Needs help: Getting his bowties straight You: Must want to give and receive lots of snuggles You can meet Buster at 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California, any afternoon but Monday. Please fill out an application on our website ahead of time.

Story
Bordeaux is an affectionate senior who (we love this) likes to carry his food bowl around in his mouth. This is his second long stay at FAAS, and it breaks our hearts to see him grow older in an animal shelter, as much as we enjoy caring for him. If only his forever family could come for him and end his run of bad luck. He would be overjoyed to have a real home again with his own bed, his very own food bowl, and humans he can call his own! Highlights: * 9 years old * Sweet and easy-going * Easy to walk * Likes to chase small animals. (SQUIRREL!) * No dogs or kids. Bordeaux would make a great work-at-home companion. He believes in power naps and short walks. His once-red-wine-hued coat is now turning a distinguished gray, but Bordeaux has lots of life left to live and love to give. Bordeaux's adoption fee has been covered by an admirer, so you pay nothing for his adoption. You can meet him from noon to 4PM any day but Monday at FAAS, 1590 Fortmann Way in Alameda, California.
