Story
Pogo is an amazing ~1yo micro American Bully weighing only about 25lbs (basically he’s a nice cocker spaniel/beagle size), who came to rescue after trauma and having his front leg amputated. That doesn’t stop this fun pogo stick! He races and hops around no problem! He is great with everyone he meets- people, dogs, cats, and even farm animals. Really well adjusted little dude. He’s cratetrained and housebroken. He has the personality to become mayor of your town, everyone loves him and he loves everyone! Please contact Diana at (510) 333-4420 or theperfectdogrescue@gmail.com or fill out the adoption application:  http://www.theperfectdog.org/TPDadoptapp.doc May 22, 2024, 1:43 pm

Story
Gentle giant Yodi is ready for his forever home!   This easy-going boy loves cuddles and making his people happy.  Luckily, he’s great at both!  If you want to laugh, just turn on a sprinkler and Yodi will frolic in the water.  If you want to cry, Yodi will climb on your lap and lick your face.  Yodi is ready to be whatever you need!   Yodi isn’t just cuddly, he’s smart!  He already knows sit, shake, and down. He is already crate-trained, and is comfortable waiting in his crate while you run errands.  Yodi loves food and treats, so will be able to learn even more with positive-reinforcement training.   Yodi likes chew toys and is learning to play fetch.  He behaves well on walks, and is always excited to meet other dogs. Yodi would love a home with a dog-sibling! He will also enjoy being the one and only if he gets his daily walks and exposure to other dogs and humans.  He likes kids, but because he turns into a bit of a cannonball when he runs, we think he should not live with small children.  Yodi hasn’t told us yet what he thinks of cats but he seemed to not care about them when we passed by the cat colony.    To arrange a meeting with Yodi, we ask that you help us learn more about you and your household by filling out our online application: www.tinyurl.com/AdoptMeNow May 23, 2024, 12:03 am

Story
05/16/24 02:55DOG DAY OUT REPORT Today I: met two new friends who took me for a drive and a nice sniffy walk! I was ready to get going and hopped in and out of the car all on my own. I enjoyed sitting in the back and looking out the window. Once we got to the park, I enjoyed a leisurely walk with lots of sniffies. I also enjoyed a good lay down and roll in the cool grass and lots of pets from my new friends. I don’t care about the other people and dogs on the trail, I just want to get my sniffs in! I also got lots of treats and showed off my tricks, including sit, down, and shake. Three Words to Describe Me are: Calm, Gentle, SweetNotes from My Walker: Mika is a very sweet girl; she had no problem getting the leash and harness on and hopped right in the car. She was very good in the car sitting/laying for most of the ride and looking out the window. She is a leisurely walker who enjoys sniffing everything. She walks great on leash; she likes to be at the end of the leash but doesn’t pull. She didn’t react to other dogs or people on the trail and just wanted to get her sniffs in. She likes pets and tummy rubs and enjoyed stretching out and rolling in the grass when we took a break. She likes treats, takes them very gently, and knows sit, down, and shake/paw. Mika is a lovely girl who appreciates a slower pace of life with lots of sniffs, treats, and scratches. 05/07/24Mika went with staff to an offsite adoption event. She greeted the crowd with loose body and tail wagging and received lots of petting from admirers. She took treats nicely. We also had a puppy at the event and Mika was great with the puppy. dp02/25/24 17:12Reason animal needs rescue: Extensive length of stay, continues to be returned to shelter from various owners. Mast cell tumor removed two weeks ago needs consistent monitoring and follow-up to monitor for signs of recurrence.Type: MedicalDate animal needs rescue by: Middle of March ideallyImpound type: TransferOff stray hold: YesAdditional notes: Mika has been at the shelter since January. She recently had a mast cell tumor removed from inside of her right leg. She is overweight and would benefit from a different environment that allows her to be more active and permits closer monitoring of her skin in case of recurrence of mast cell tumors.SD

Story
Ferdinand is a rescue who was surrendered due to a medical issue (cherry eye) that was repaired by the shelter. He has lived with me for 3 years as a very loyal companion. However, life challenges are preventing me from giving him the attention and care that he needs and this is leading to the development of behavioral issues that I am not able to address. The good: Ferdinand is very food motivated, which makes it very easy to teach him new commands and to practice obedience training. He also is very chill and is happy to spend most of his day sleeping in various places around the house. In the evenings, he loves cuddling up next to me on the couch or on his heated mat. The challenges: Ferdinand is becoming more and more reactive to strangers in the home. He had a bite incident, but luckily no legal action was taken. He is crate-trained and is happy to wear a muzzle in public. The behavior could be extinguished with further training that I am unable to provide.

Story
Jango is a wonderful, loving, healthy and happy 10 year old dog. He enjoys sunbathing, snuggling, long walks in cool weather, and lots of belly rubs. We’re hoping to find him a home that can give him more time and attention that he deserves. He’s great with people. He’s about 85lbs (a big boy!) so it’s better to keep him away from smaller children since he still thinks he’s a lap dog. With other dogs, he’s about 50/50; sometimes he gets too into another dog’s personal space which might set off altercations. Please reach out if you have any questions.
