Story
This is Yara! She is just an itty bitty little pittie mix, less than 40lbs! She’s a great dog. She’s sweet, playful and so cuddly. She loves her food time and will wait patiently until her bowl is set down. She loves her toys and will just take them and play outside on the lawn. She loves meeting new people and isn’t shy. She’s a pro in the car! Also crate and house trained. She loves looking out the window on car rides, walking on the leash. She walks great, and would be great as a running partner. Probably no kitties or small animals in the home for Yara they are a bit too interesting for her! Yara is being fostered in Sacramento, CA. If you would like to meet Yara, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.californiabullyrescue.org/adopt

Story
Meet Ziva: Your Future Co-Pilot, Squeaky Toy Connoisseur, and Professional Snuggler-in-Training! 🐾✨ Ziva’s story starts like a country song — found scared and scruffy in a rural area, down on her luck but full of heart. Now? She's ready to glow up in her forever home! Her name means radiant in Hebrew and living in Slavic — and trust us, this little lady lives up to both. 🌟 Estimated to be around 2–3 years old, Ziva is a total beauty queen who may have had a rough past (possibly used for breeding 😢), but she's not letting that dim her sparkle. From day one, all she’s wanted is love, cuddles, and maybe a few snacks (okay… a lot of snacks). She’s super food motivated and knows "sit" and "no" like a champ. She’s also crate trained, potty trained, and a very polite beggar — just don’t be surprised if she shoots you puppy eyes worthy of an Oscar. 🎭🍗 Ziva’s idea of a good time? Squeaky toys (the louder, the better), joy rides (she’s a pro at loading up and keeping chill in the car), and basking in the company of her favorite humans. She’ll even serenade you with an adorable “woo woo” when it’s time for dinner or crate breaks. She does best with slow intros to other medium-to-large dogs and keeps things pretty neutral — no drama here! She’s not a fan of cats, livestock, or tiny critters (prey drive alert 🚨), so she’d prefer a home without them. She may bark at new people and unfamiliar dogs at first, but she’s working hard on building her confidence and trusting the world again. Ziva would thrive in a home that gives her space to settle in, time to trust, and lots of love (and treats — seriously, treats help). Got a soft spot for underdogs with big hearts? Ziva might just be your soulmate with paws. 💕

Story
Meet Bunny — the shelter’s former “most likely to steal your heart” AND a certified volunteer favorite! This compact little potato was running out of time, but we scooped her up just in time, and wow… are we glad we did. At 4 years old, she’s the perfect mix of playful fun without that wild puppy energy. Think: adventure buddy, couch cuddler, and snack enthusiast all in one adorable package. Bunny comes spayed, polished, and ready to roll. She even had a little chest lump removed during her spay — which turned out to be a mast cell tumor, but don’t worry! It was completely removed with clean margins, and she’s now living her healthiest, happiest life. Personality-wise? Bunny is a sunshine beam. Friendly, wiggly, and absolutely thrilled to meet new people. She also did great with other dogs in the shelter and seems especially well-paired with male pups. Basically: Bunny = A+ good girl. Come meet her and let her work her magic. 🌟🐾

Story
🍫 Meet Almond Joy – the Sweetest Lowrider in Town! 🐾 Location: Oakdale, CA (currently being fostered) Age: 4 years | Weight: 50 lbs | Breed: Hound x Staffordshire Mix Looking for a treat that never melts? Meet Almond Joy — rescued from the Visalia Shelter and now ready to unwrap a lifetime of love with her forever family! 💕 This short-stack sweetheart is part hound, part Staffordshire, and 100% adorable. With her lowrider legs and big, gentle heart, Almond Joy is the perfect combo of playful and chill. She loves her walks, enjoys short bursts of zoomies, and then happily flops down for cuddles or a good nap. She’s a shy gal at first, but once you earn her trust, she’s loyal for life. Almond Joy gets along great with other dogs, adores people, and is a crate-trained queen 👑. She’s got medium energy — enough to join you on adventures, but she won’t be dragging you up any mountains (her little legs have opinions about that). If you’re looking for a best friend who’s as sweet as candy and twice as lovable, Almond Joy might just be your perfect match. 📩 Adopt Almond Joy — because love this sweet only comes once in a lifetime!

Story
Sally came into our lives last Christmas when we found her abandoned in a shopping cart. She was just a tiny puppy, cold, scared, and clearly hadn’t had an easy start. We brought her home, got her vetted, and gave her the love, safety, and stability she hadn’t known before. She is now about a year old — a sweet, athletic, intelligent girl who thrives with routine, structure, and activity. I’m looking for an adult-only, active home where she can continue to grow with people who understand her energy and enjoy training, hiking, and daily engagement. I would describe Sally as affectionate, playful, curious, energetic, smart, and very eager to please. She will absolutely blossom in the right home.

Story
I adopted this guy when he was 6 months old. He will be 2 y/o in December. He's the normal bully sleeps during the day, snores really loud and chill demeanor. The only issue I have with him is that he has progressively got aggressive with me when it comes to his bones and toys. Its like a light switch went off one day and he's guarding bones and then new toys. I've never taken away a toy, so I don't get it. I notice he is submissive to men, but is tough on me. At this point I know I can't do it anymore. He has unfortunately bitten me so I worry about kids or other dogs with him. Even though he has interacted with other dogs his behavior has changed. You must have the experience of owning a bully. He's sweet, playful and loves short walks or his stroller to watch people. Plays with his toys. Doesn't bark. Healthy. Please understand he may need behavior training. We have learned no bones in bedroom n no play toys. Only babies to sleep w/. Behavior has improved greatly! Fee 4 safe home.

He’s also been an absolute star when it comes to his eye and skin care routines — what a good boy!
