Story
Why do black dogs take longer to find a home?! Tia is a great girl! She is medium sized at 45lb, with a lot of energy and a lot of love to give. With an eagerness to please, and plenty of athleticism that transitions into her playing style, Tia is quite the character. She LOVES any kind of toy and will go to fetch just about anything that is thrown that she can fit into her mouth. Chew toys, balls, chew bones, sticks, pinecones... anything can be a toy, and she is just as excited for a little twig as she is for a ball. Tia came into our care from a home that had 25+ dogs in their home. They were not able to properly care for the dogs and they needed help. Tia has had the opportunity to flourish and begin to learn, but she will need some training to teach her more manners. Tia needs a home with space, as she loves to run and play. She will sit for her food, and is very trainable, she is eager to please. She would do best with an experienced family that can work with her to guide her to being the best version of herself. Her energy level may not be compatible with all families, she has the average energy of a Labrador. She is learning to walk on a leash, however we think she may have been tied out on a chain at some point, so a secure harness may do best for her. She will do best with a fenced in yard to be able to properly run and play inside of. She can be a resource guarder with food (with other dogs not people), we have solved for this by feeding her with a "slow feeder" bowl and she takes herself to a crate when it comes time for food. Although she can get along with other dogs, we would like to find someone that is content with having one dog so Tia can finally get the one-on-one attention she has never had. Let's get Tia a home of her very own!! ***************PLEASE READ THIS FOR NEXT STEPS**************** Please COPY and PASTE the following URL into your web browser for the adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FPSL/Dog COMPLETED APPLICATIONS TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER INQUIRIES. If you are interested in adopting, the FIRST step is to complete an application. Please note that our animals are rescued and transported from South Mississippi where major animal overpopulation means less homes. We only transport them once adopted, in most instances, we can be available for a video call once an application has been approved. We are USDA certified, and WE PERSONALLY TRANSPORT OUR OWN adopted animals to meet their new families. We transport every 2-3 weeks. Our adoption fee includes the spay/neuter, age-appropriate vaccinations, Microchip, heartworm tested, Mississippi Health Certificate, and the transport service to get the new family pet to you ***Breed input is required for each platform but is not guaranteed to be accurate. We do not DNA test. We rescue animals from different situations. We discuss breed assignments with our vets to label them as accurately as possible.*** We are currently unable to adopt pets to ME and RI residents.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!October 14, 2024, 6:08 pm

Story
Klaus is the sweetest handsome boy! He is a big time snuggler(loves to get under the blanket and stay nice and warm). He loves giving kisses, playing with balls and ropes, and loves to run around the yard and play. This guy has done well with female dogs. He does good with older kids and adults. He’s about 3 years old. Unfortunately he hasn’t been adjusting well to life with a baby at home, which is why we’re looking for a new loving home for him, that’s baby free.

Story
🎾Roger and Russell 🎾 These handsome boys are Roger(darker brindle) and Russell (lighter brindle). They are brothers that were born last May. There were ten puppies in the litter and these two brindle boys were instant buddies. They have been together since birth and are total best friends. Russel can be a little shy in new situations but as long as Roger is there to reassure him, he knows everything will be okay. They are good with other dogs but a bit freaked out by cats. The boys love going on adventures and playing in the fenced yard at their fosters house. The are great hiking buddies and love water. After their big day out, they are happy to snuggle on the sofa and chill. Roger and Russell are crate and house trained. They are quiet and mannerly when inside and entertain each other. If you have been thinking about getting a new adventure buddy, please consider these two awesome brothers. We know taking on two can be a lot to ask but these boys are just too close for us to separate. Whoever gets this special pair of brothers will definitely be double blessed. ❤️❤️
