Meet Sasha – A Loyal Heart in Search of a New Home Hello dear reader — My name is Sasha. I’m a gentle and well-mannered Anatolian Shepherd mix with a heart as warm as the sunbeam I love to nap in. My beloved human recently passed on, and now I’m looking for someone kind (maybe a bit like Mary Poppins?) who might open their home and heart to me. I’m a devoted companion — I’ll give a bark when someone new approaches, just to keep you safe, but once you tell me all is well, I’ll settle down and go right back to lounging peacefully. I’m fully up to date on my shots and in good health. I enjoy company, I am docile and sweet and  I’m also quite content having some quiet time alone if you need to step out. I eat at my own pace and appreciate a full water bowl nearby. Mostly, I’d love a gentle hand, a soft place to sleep, and someone who will check in on me now and then — just to say hello. Puck is very sweet and a tad bit shy (cautious). He has a soft temperament and is very people oriented. Puck is a quiet boy with a calm attitude and is very endearing. He's neutral around other dogs and avoids conflict. Puck walks well on a leash.

We took in Shar a year and a half ago(she was 14-months old then) from owners who had her in a very small yard since she was a puppy with another dog that was part wolf. Apparently the yard was not secure and the owners were away from the home for long hours. The dogs got out repeatedly and killed neighbor chickens and other poultry. I am a chicken breeder as well as a pet care provider and have done some training, so I thought I could work with her and see if it would work out with her on our property. After a year and a half of working with her, my conclusion is that expecting her to be 100% poultry safe is unrealistic and she ends up failing. This does not give her a positive self concept and I want her to be able to reach her optimal potential. Our setting is not the best for her. Shar is highly sensitive , empathic, affectionate. We would love to find someone who needs a comfort pup, a single mom with littles, or a small family. Shar gets along with all pets except poultry.

But don’t let that stop you—he’s a quick learner and has already made incredible progress! He’s well on his way to being potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained. His foster family has even started training him with a vibration collar, and he responds beautifully to signals like flipping the porch light off and on to call him back when going outside to potty at night time. I might jump up or get the zoomies, but I am not aggressive at all and am responsive to gentle corrections. I live with my foster mom and dad, and there are three dogs here too! They take such good care of me and understand that I am sensitive and make me feel safe and comfortable. WHAT WAS YOUR LIFE LIKE BEFORE BEING BROUGHT INTO NORCAL BULLY BREED RESCUE? I don’t really remember any of that. Because life is so wonderful now, it’s about moving forward and not looking back. Now I am really looking forward to finding my forever family who understands my large breed temperament and will keep me in a safe environment.
