Story
Sunny is a gentle soul with a heart full of love, waiting for her second chance at happiness. This 80-pound Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix is 7 years old and ready to find her forever family. This beautiful soul spent 557 days in the shelter due to a welfare case. She truly deserves a place to call a forever home! Though Sunny may be shy and nervous at first, beneath that quiet exterior is a calm and loving dog who is slowly opening up to the world. She’s made amazing progress, becoming more comfortable on walks and showing comfort around other dogs. Sunny has favorite cozy spots like the couch or a human bed where she enjoys her peaceful retreat. She has even initiated brief play with another dog. She is crate trained, though so laid-back that crating isn’t necessary. Quiet and rarely barking, Sunny would thrive in a patient, loving home where she can enjoy a calm, relaxed life. Could you be the special family Sunny is searching for? After waiting so long, she deserves the love and security only a caring family can provide. Let’s give this beautiful girl the happy ending she’s been waiting for! If you are interested in adopting, please visit the I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue website and complete an adoption application: www.icaredogrescue.org/ready-to-adopt Adoption fee includes: spay/neuter • shots up to date • micro-chip • fecal and vet check Breeds and age are not guaranteed. Story
How this pet arrived: Kona was brought in by her previous owner on December 6, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Kona! This gorgeous brindle girl is as sweet and loyal as they come. She's been a bit fearful in our care, but with slow introductions and patience, her warm, affectionate side truly shines. Once she feels safe, Kona is the kind of pup who loves soaking up pets, riding shotgun on car adventures, and enjoying a breezy day at the beach. Kona is both crate trained and potty trained, giving her a great head start in her new home. She has done well with other dogs out and about, but she prefers not to share her favorite people - so she's looking to be the only dog in the home. Any kids in the household will need to meet her ahead of time to ensure it's a great fit for everyone. If you're looking for a loyal companion who just needs a little time to blossom, Kona may be your perfect match. At SDHS:Kona has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Kona is now ready for her new home!Shy/Fearful Dog: This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS video to learn more about them. Story
This sweet senior boy was found wandering in Northern California, and despite his big size, he’s truly just a gentle giant. He’s a white mastiff mix who wants nothing more than to be near his people. At his age, he’s not too active — a bit of arthritis has slowed him down — but he still enjoys short sniff walks and quiet time in the sun.   He’s fully potty trained, knows a few simple commands, and has the best manners. He gets along great with smaller dogs and does fine with bigger ones too, as long as introductions are done slowly. What he really needs is someone who’s home most of the time and ready to give him the companionship he’s been missing.   He’s not looking for adventure anymore — just love, warmth, and a cozy spot to rest his head. If you’ve got room in your heart and home for a loyal old friend who just wants to be loved, this gentle soul would be forever grateful.December 6, 2025, 6:54 pm
