This sweet little girl should have had a fairy tale life based on what her adoptive family told us when they selected her as a puppy. She went home with the family when she was two months old. The family had a house, children, and another Malinois. However, at the end of 2025, Coastal GSR received an email from a shelter letting us know that they found Athena roaming around as a stray. When we tried to find her family, it was like they vanished from the face of the earth. The house was sold, the people were gone, and no one was missing Athena. Athena came back to Coastal GSR and re-joined our family. A family that would never give up on her. She is still a bit bewildered about what happened to her but she has been settling in and enjoying walks and ball playing with our volunteers. The minimum adoption donation is $375 for adults and $500 for puppies. This helps cover vet care, boarding fees, and other expenses. They were being given away 'free to good home' and were rescued by an animal lover who didn't want to see them land in the wrong hands! Fiona settled into the kennel life very easily and charmed her way into the hearts of all of the volunteers. She needed treatment for a cancerous tumor that she likely got when she became pregnant with her pups. The good news here is that she is done with her treatments and has been cancer free for over 6 months! Yay for Fiona! Fiona would love a home to call her own. She has been to obedience training, knows all her basic commands and walks well on a leash. She would do best in a home with older kids and no other dogs or cats. She loves car rides and would love an active lifestyle! If Fiona sounds like a fit for you, please let us know. We would love to chat with you about Fiona! Cairo came to us from a high-kill shelter where he was battling a URI (upper respiratory infection). With dedicated veterinary care, he's now completely healthy, neutered, fully vaccinated, and bursting with life. What started as a second chance has turned into the discovery of one of the most delightful, un-Malinois-like Malinois you'll ever meet. While the breed is famous for intense drive, laser focus, and excelling in high-stakes work like police and military roles, Cairo is the charming exception that proves the rule. He actually failed police academy—not for any lack of intelligence or ability, but because he was far more interested in playing fetch, chasing toys, and making friends than in the serious business of bitework and patrols. His trainers couldn't help but laugh: this smart, capable dog just wanted to have fun! Cairo is very playful yet remarkably smart—he picks up commands lightning-fast and has mastered all the basics (and then some). He's fully house trained, leash trained, and responds eagerly to cues like sit, stay, down, come, and more. But his favorite thing? Curling up right next to you, laying his head in your lap, or sprawling out for belly rubs and quiet companionship. He's the ultimate velcro dog who thrives on being close to his people. Arrow is a stunningly handsome 13 1/2-month-old male German Shepherd mix love bug that is super quiet in the house. Arrow is affectionate and super cuddly. He definitely needs to use his mind and exercise but can also spend the day hanging out quietly at the house after a good morning run if needed. Arrow weighs approx 53 pounds of love & sweetness and is currently in a foster home with a female dog that he gets along with wonderfully. Arrow is crate trained and sleeps in his crate the whole night through. He loves everyone he meets and has been great with the children he’s met, who were over 8 years old. He hasn’t met very young children as of yet. Arrow would be best suited with an active family that will continue taking him on long walks, hikes, or jogs. He has an amazing demeanor and is dog friendly when he is introduced to other dogs properly on a leash. Has been great with neighbor dogs off leash. He’s truly a gem of a young g adult dog that would be a great addition to any shepherd loving family that loves the breed.
