Story
Milo is a 6 year old snuggle hound. He enjoys playing with other dogs but is just as happy looking out the window and alerting his family to any rabbits in the vicinity. He loves belly rubs and nylabones. He hates the cold but will go out with his jacket on. He had a rough start in life and had a number of parasites when we adopted him. He is healthy now but will always test positive for heart worm because he has the antibodies. He would do alright with older kids but very young children (under 5) make him nervous and defensive.

Story
Ferdinand is a 9-year-old Heeler/Lab mix with a gentle, loving nature and a strong attachment to his people. He's kind with kids and enjoys being close to family, offering quiet companionship and affection. He's a smart, attentive boy who does best with secure outdoor spaces and supervised time outside. Ferdinand has been with his brother his entire life and shares a deep, reassuring bond with him. He can become anxious when they're apart, and he truly thrives when they're together as a bonded pair. This is a very difficult decision for our family. Our son was recently diagnosed with moderate to severe asthma, and despite every effort, we've been advised that rehoming our dogs is necessary for his health and safety. Our only goal is to find a loving, stable home where they can stay together and continue to be cherished.

Rizzo’s Compatibility:Dogs - Bring yours by and we’ll see if they click!Cats - YesKids - Yes, 8+Rizzo is a handsome cattledog mix who is housebroken, crate trained, and knows all the important stuff like sit, lie down, give paw, and how to gaze lovingly into your soul. He’s a social eater (he likes to dine near his people like the little gentleman he is) and an expert napper who takes his sunbathing schedule very seriously. Rizzo`s foster mom states that he enjoys running with her, and they`ve even started doing Couch to 5k together!Rizzo has been an excellent office buddy here at HSHC and a devoted companion to the people who’ve taken the time to get to know him. He’s hoping for a calm and steady home where guests are few, and he can really settle in as someone’s best friend. He may not be the life of the party, but if you prefer quiet mornings, loyal company, and a dog who thinks the sun rises and sets with you... Rizzo is already halfway in love. Come meet him and see if the feeling’s mutual!

Lola Moon’s Compatibility:Dogs - YesCats - Prefers no catsKids - Yes, dog savvy teens are a great fitLola Moon is a smart, affectionate girl with a gentle nature that shines once she feels settled. She recently spent time in foster care, where she showed us just how wonderful she can be in a home.In foster, Lola Moon was completely housebroken, nondestructive, and an excellent house guest. She settled in beautifully, slept through the night, and did well both having her own space and sharing a bedroom. She lived with four other dogs and did great. Lola Moon was a little unsure around a larger dog at first, but with time and patience, she warmed up and coexisted happily. She also did very well on walks and enjoyed spending time out and about with her people. She may take a day or two to feel comfortable with new faces, but once she does, she seeks out affection and enjoys being close to her people. When Lola Moon bonds with you, she bonds deeply.Lola Moon would do best in a calm, consistent home with dog savvy teens and adults who appreciate a loyal, steady companion. She has completed a board and train program, knows her basic cues, and thrives with positive reinforcement and routine.Lola Moon is ready for adoption and would love to meet you. Story
I’m a sweet girl who absolutely loves people and making new friends! Life in a kennel isn’t really my thing; I’d much rather be out exploring or hanging out with you. I’ve spent some time living life on my own, so I’m still learning how to settle in and feel fully comfortable indoors. With a little patience, consistency, and training, I’ll be the loyal companion you’ve been looking for. I just need a family who can give me time to decompress and show me that home life is the best life.

Story
🐾 Meet Gravy – Energetic, Affectionate, and Ready for a Home Gravy is a young, loving, high‑energy husky mix looking for an active home. His current family adopted him as a puppy, but due to major changes in their household and increased caregiving needs, they can no longer give him the time and structure he requires. They want him to have the active, engaged life he deserves. Gravy thrives on interaction. He loves running laps in the yard, playing soccer, and being involved in whatever his humans are doing. His energy can come across as clinginess, but he simply needs regular exercise and mental stimulation. He’s very smart, eager to learn, and unusually food‑motivated for a husky. A trainer confirmed he has strong potential with consistent, positive training. Gravy would do best with someone who enjoys an active lifestyle and wants a loyal, people‑focused companion. If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate “buddy” dog, Gravy may be the perfect match
