Story
Looking for a ride along friend, snuggle bug, adventure pal, confidante and best friend? Maybelline might just be your girl! With a heart of gold, an eagerness to please, a smile so beautiful it’ll light up a room–Maybelline has been searching for the perfect home who appreciates what she’s got to offer! Maybelline is a 4 year old Australian shepherd/Australian cattle dog mix with a walk like a Corgi. She is 40lbs which we think is the perfect medium sized pup! Maybelline has lived outside her whole life, so she’s looking for a home that’ll be patient with her while she learns the ropes of indoor living. Right now, her foster mom says she’s acclimating so fast! Maybelline is a very happy go lucky girl. She loves to snuggle up on the couch and hold you hostage. She likes to eat ALL the food you have to offer her–even if it’s a bite of your burger, she doesn’t mind. She will hog the bed, act as a heating pad on the couch, follow you like a shadow, accompany you on any adventure that awaits and will do so without complaints. Maybelline is the picture of a loyal companion. She’s quirky, but who doesn’t love a quirky girl? Her smile comes off as more of a smirk and we giggle every time it comes out. Her eyes are SO expressive. Her whole body will wiggle with joy the second she sees you or hears your voice. She’s such a happy dog. Her nub tail goes a million miles a minute the higher your voice goes. Maybelline enjoys treats, especially if it’s lunch meat. Specifically turkey. She’s a little on the picky side with dog food, but she’s just watching her figure! Because she’s snack motivated, training with her will be extra fun! She is great on leash and enjoys nature walks. She’s not a fast paced girl but hikes could also be her thing! A trip down to the lake could also prove to be a blast! Maybelline is great in the kennel for just learning what one is. She’s a patient girl who waits her turn to come out. She’s also potty trained to perfection! If Maybelline seems like the beauty queen you’re searching for, apply now before she gets adopted! She has been spayed, microchipped by rescue and treated for heartworms - on prevention and up to date on vaccines. She has no special needs or medical needs. FOSTERED IN TEXAS. *Adoption Fee ($550.00) includes transport options to PNW (WA, UT, ID), Midwest (MN, WI, MI, OH, IL, IN) or select New England States (NY-NJ-CT-VA-VT) by pet transport partners. She was heartworm positive so it was necessary to bring her to Houston for a rescue to treat her and work on an adoption plan for her. She has cattle dog blood so herding and chasing chickens is possible, since arriving in the suburbs, she's only shown an interest in being a couch Queen. Foster Notes: Maybelline is a super friendly girl but would do best in a home that has only male dogs or where she will be the only dog! She doesn’t pair well with female dogs per rumors - she has been good with younger female dogs and easy going females. Even though she sometimes doesn’t mix well with other mature dogs - this girl is still super deserving of the perfect home! Video: https://youtu.be/WFcJQHVijpo?si=Eggx0TomiljQqI8C

Story
Did you know that the ivy plant is a symbol of everlasting life, devotion, fidelity and loyalty? An inspiring name for a charismatic pooch such as myself! Being the young lady that I am, an active family would be a match made in heaven! Play time is quite possibly my favorite time of day (sometimes I get a bit carried away with my plushy toys). I like to live life enthusiastically, having a positive direction for my gusto would be the ultimate delight for me! Although physical activity is an absolute riot, having a cool down period with some mental games is a good time too. At the end of the day, I just want to be involved with my people. I am not one to turn down a snuggle session by any means. What can I say, I am a sweetheart after all. I hope to find a family that wants to understand and accepts me for the glorious rescue dog that I am. For instance, I like some other dogs, but not every dog. Smaller dogs (and cats for that matter) remind me of chicken nuggets, I can't help but feel some prey drive there. But some other dogs my own size are fun to hang out and play with. I suppose that its pretty normal to not get along with everyone you meet in life though. Whether or not you are a botanical enthusiast, if you are looking for a forever companion submit your adoption application for the perfect furry addition! DOB: 5/25/2021 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
Meet Elvin, a charming little oddball with a heart full of love 🐾💖. Elvin enjoys being close to his people, soaking up affection and companionship, but he prefers his personal space rather than being right on top of you. He’s happiest in a calm, quiet home and would do best without young children, where he can relax and feel secure 💕. Elvin can have good days and bad days, but with patience, kindness, and letting him go at his own pace, he truly thrives 💗. He does have a sensitive stomach, but with the right food, regular exercise, and a low-stress routine, he feels his very best 💞. If you’re looking for a gentle, loyal companion who will blossom in a peaceful home, Elvin may be the perfect match for your heart 💓🐾. - Around 6 years old - Currently under 40lbs - Good with cats and dogs - Good with kids, but prefers a calm/quiet environment - Adoption fee: $100 This dog is currently housed at our shelter. Story
Marley is a sensitive herding-breed dog who is looking for a calm, patient home where he can feel safe and build confidence. He has a history of fear and anxiety. Marley is not a good fit for homes with children under 5, and any children under 17 must meet him prior to adoption. Marley must meet any resident dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in the home. He has no known history with cats, so careful introductions would be needed. Marley will do best with an experienced and understanding adopter who can provide exercise, structure, consistency, and positive reinforcement. In the right environment, he has the potential to be a loyal and rewarding companion.Marley is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Story
Hi my name is Holmes! I am a shy kind of dog who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. I can be rather shy so I would prefer a quieter home without younger children. Once I get more comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption survey online or in the shelter.I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
Meet Denali! He is house trained and knows some basic commands. He isn't the most cuddly (sometimes he just prefers to lay on the couch alone), and he could for sure take burning some more energy throughout the day. Me alone and my small yard only provides so much. Recently, two additional dogs were placed on to me. After multiple intro attempts and MONTHS of keeping my house entirely split, he is unable to get to the point where having a multi-dog house is possible. He NEEDS to be an only pet, he has never been around kids. Admittedly, he needs caught up on shots as his behavior (and cost of mobile vets) has made it very difficult for me to manage. Unfortunately with the other two dogs not being able to find homes from my temporary care, it must be him to find somewhere better. Ideally a single adult/couple with reactive/dog-aggressive experience.
