Story
Johnny Cash AKA Cash Was a foster fail for us. We decided to get into fostering had one successful foster adoption and we instantly fell in love with Cash and we believe he fell in love with us also. He was so at peace here and just truly enjoyed being around us and that really has not changed. The reason we are making decision to put him up for adoption is because his breed naturally needs space to run and we feel like even with our invisible fence we are not doing him justice by keeping him here. He needs property he needs to run he needs to be free. He has very few accidents usually only if he gets very excited he sleeps with us in bed at night but is in a cage when we are not at home. We are hoping for an open adoption where our son can still see him with his new family enjoying the freedom that he will have. If you are interested please reach out.

Story
Paco was born 10/2022 and is a 50lb Cattle mix. Paco is full of playful energy and loves to rough house and howl with his Husky resident sibling. As are most Cattle dogs, Paco is hesitant with unfamiliar people and men but he has completed a three week one on one training to work on his fears. He would thrive in a house with another playful dog or an active owner, and a fenced yard. He does well with kids but no cats. He comes when called, knows how to sit and lay down, is great in the car, and in the crate. He loves to chase water from a hose, play with his daycare friends, and fall asleep in your lap! He is the sweetest boy just waiting to find his forever family!

Story
Tootsie Roll is a 1yr Australian Cattle Dog. He came to us from a shelter in Ohio after he was brought in as a stray. Tootsie is a VERY energetic boy (common for the breed) and will require a home with either a fenced yard or a large property/farm to run around on. He is always on the go and would love a large family or a family with another dog for him to play with. We are also a dog daycare, so he has been exposed to many dog friends. He does the best with medium/large playmates, and we do not recommend him with small breeds or cats. True to his breed, he tends to herd/nip at and play very rough with doggy friends. We do consider him dog friendly, although he can get over stimulated at times during long, rough, play sessions. This can lead to him lashing out towards other dogs. This is not something that happens often, but it is something to keep in mind. We do not think he would be a good candidate for dog parks or likewise due to this. As much as Tootsie is a crazy boy, he is also very sweet! He is house trained, crate trained and up to date on vet care. Do you think Tootsie Roll would be a good fit for your family? Reach out for an adoption application!

Story
Aren't I gorgeous? My name is Poppy and I'm a purebred Australian Cattle Dog. Over 2 years ago, I came from Texas and less than an hour after arriving at FMAR, I gave birth to six healthy puppies. As you can imagine, I was very stressed and it took me a long time to develop bonds with staff and volunteers. As more and more of our volunteers got to know me, I started to show them my loveable and playful side. My new owners should have experience or knowledge with my breed and be willing to be extremely patient since I'm shy and afraid of strangers. I'm not comfortable with a new person reaching to pet me or putting a leash on me. It may take a few hours, days, or even weeks to rub my belly - but if you're patient it will be worth the wait! Once I trust you, I become a wildly affectionate girl! I love to roll in the grass, splash in the water, and zoom around the yard. My favorite thing to do is to cuddle next to my favorite person. Hopefully it will be you! I'm truly a great dog once you get to know me!If you would like to meet me, please submit an application for me on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. I'm spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $250, which covers all of the medical care I have received.**Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
On the adoption papers, Carrie is listed as a Queensland Heeler Mix. I adopted Carrie while living in AZ. What attracted me to her was the way she fetched a ball and brought it back to me and dropped it at my feet. That was 4 years ago. She gets along with my older dog, a boxer/pit mix. She sleeps mostly on my bed or the couch. She is up to date on her rabies shot (June). At this time she needs her yearly basic shots. If I am able to financially, I will get those shots and I will add the extra cost onto the $50 current fee.
