Story
Hey my name is Circe! I am a good dog looking for an owner willing to offer proper training, socialization, and exercise. I’m a fun-loving dog who loves to play chase, so a home with cats or young kids wouldn’t be a good fit for my exuberant personality. I have done well with some dogs in play groups and would love to meet other dogs before I go home with them. I am a quick learner, and with the help of some yummy treats, I will make you proud with my excellent manners. I do have A LOT of energy and may be a bit too much for some families! However, a lot of energy also means a lot of LOVE! With time, training, and patience- you can help me be the best dog I can be!

Story
Foster location: Eagle, Michigan Meet Axel! Axel is a super handsome 1.5 year old Cattle Dog mix that is looking for his forever home. He is a very social boy who loves playing with his foster siblings and running with them in the yard, going for walks and meeting new people and then cuddling up on the couch at night with his foster mom. Axel has been attending doggy daycare and loves it! Axel is house and crate trained and walks good on a leash. He is great about chewing on his toys and bones and not getting into things he shouldn’t. Axel would enjoy an active home with another young dog to play with, he has really bonded with his foster siblings and enjoys running and playing with them. Kids make Axel nervous so he is looking for a home without children. Axel is a very sweet and smart boy and catches onto new things quickly, he is young and ready to learn! In order to set him up for success we would recommend his family enroll him in a positive reinforcement training class upon adoption. Axel’s adoption fee is $300, he is neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, dewormed, and current on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Please follow the instructions to apply for Axel found in the auto-reply you will receive or email adoptapupanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application. Adopt A Pup is 100% foster-based which means we do not have a centralized facility where you can visit our dogs. The first step towards meeting the dog(s) you are interested is to complete an application. One of our volunteers will contact your references and set up a time between you and the foster to meet and interact with the dog(s) of interest.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi my name is Boomer.  I am almost 2 years old. I am a Cattle Dog (AKA) Blue Heeler. I may be a little mixed, but not sure. I was surrendered by my owner for a better life. I weigh about 56 lbs. I love people and am friendly with other dogs. Not sure if I like cats. I have never lived with small children, so maybe older kids would be good for me. I am house broke and crate trained. I do need more training. I can sit, go down, usually come when called, working on drop it, when I bring the ball back. I like to play fetch, go on car rides, go swimming, hike in the woods and run around. I really just like to be around people and get attention. Boomer will be visiting the vet for a health check and needed vaccines.  He will be neutered and microchipped before going to adoption.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 21, 2025, 2:30 pm

Story
Meet Styx! SEE FOSTER UPDATES BELOW! ARE YOU AN OUTDOOR ENTHUSIAST LOOKING FOR A FURRY PAL! STYX IN YOUR GAL! If there was ever a smile that you just can't resist, it belongs to our darling Styx! She's a two-year-old cattle dog/pointer mix that is 45 pounds and specializes in snuggling to the max! Her motto is play hard, sleep hard! Styx is very tolerant girl who just wants to be close. Affectionate and kind, she has a wonderful temperament that would make an excellent addition to an active family. She is already house-trained and is all about having a good time. She has never met a toy she doesn't like and is a fan of all sorts of treats which she sits nicely for and takes gently. Are you an outdoor enthusiast looking for a pal? When she's not leaning in for love, you can find Styx enjoying the outdoors. She loves to run so a large fenced-in yard for her to enjoy is an absolute must for this energetic gal! She also has a strong prey drive so a capable handler and a home with no small animals is required. Styx is very smart and will thrive in a home with lots of exercise and mental stimulation. She enjoys tossing toys around to herself and will make you laugh watching her keep herself entertained. Styx rides very well in the car and can't wait to join you on all of your adventures! At the end of a fun-filled day, she sleeps quietly through the night, dreaming of the day her forever family comes to bring her home. Based on our evaluation, we feel Styx will do best in a very active home with adults or families with kids ages five and up. She will do best in a home where she can be part of your daily activities. She appears to be selective with dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think she sounds like the right pup for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our spectacular Styx!

Story
Cuddles is a Red Heeler (Australian Cattle Dog) born July 31 2018. She was acquired by a breeder, and the breeder information can be provided during adoption. She had initial vaccines in 2018 and follow ups in 2019. Cuddles is trained with both hand signals and verbal commands to sit, lay down and rollover. She does get excited, so treats are great for helping her focus but not necessary. Someone with further time and patience could train her to do more easily. She has been trained to not nip at ankles like many ACD dogs do (to herd). Cuddles did get into a nest of yellow jackets a few years ago and was stung on her backside. She has some bare patches on her back hind area and hind legs. Some hair is growing back, but she has a behavioral issue with licking these areas. We have tried medicines, sprays, head cone but success has been limited in curbing her from licking and fully healing. We hope to find a family that can give her the love and care she deserves.
