She is good with other dogs, cats, and even CHICKENS! She is used to being around kids and is raised in a home. She is crate trained and house broken. Ready for your next shotgun rider buddy? SHE IS IT! To adopt an animal from our sanctuary, the first step is to submit an application. *Please note we adopt within the state of MICHIGAN ONLY* The process takes a few weeks. It involves vet and personal reference checks and interview of applicant. There are no exceptions … Please remember that we are all volunteers and it may take a week or so after we receive your application to be contacted. Sometimes several people may be interested in the same pet, so please remember that not every animal is right for every home. To ensure a healthy and happy placement for our pets and their new families, we take the time to evaluate each animal’s temperament and try to match the right animal to the right family. OUR ADOPTION GUIDELINES All fees are subject to change without notice. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee the animal will be adopted to you. We do not work on a first come first serve basis. We collect applications and make our best determination on where we think the animal would thrive the best. We have the right to deny any applicant without explanation, and the decision is final. Very rarely do we get written documentation of an animal’s age and breed. We do not guarantee these, we work with professionals to help make the best determination. All of our foster homes follow a 30 Day Stay policy and do not make ANY exceptions. This policy requires every animal who comes into foster care, to stay in foster care for a minimum of 30 day before going to their forever home. Story
Gender: Male Age: 8 weeks Breed/Color: Cattle Dog / Bernese Mountain Dog Location: SE Michigan Pet ID: 2024_15, 16 Adoption Fee: $500 (+ $100 Neuter Deposit) Meet Hank and Tom! These two sweet boys are looking for a very specific home. THEY WILL NOT BE RE HOMED TOGETHER! THEY WILL GO ONLY TO A HOME WITH DOG EXPERIENCE. The reason being is that these were an oops breeding of two very powerful breeds. Tom (black ears and patches) is very much like his mama Cattle Dog. Independent and smart! Hank is like his daddy Bernese. Very large, loyal and confident. These dogs are too young to finish all of their shots and to be neutered. They will be going with a refundable deposit for the adopter to do at their expense. Story
Reputation is a spunky young senior who came to the shelter when her owner lost his home and had no where to take her. He loves her a lot and hopes she finds a great home with someone who will love her as much as he does. He said she's good with kids, cats, and dogs and she did fine with the dog she played with here. She's a playful girl who knows what she wants out of life and is not afraid to set boundaries with dumb boy dogs who try to take liberties! She would do best with an easy going male who is OK with being bossed around by a girl who may change the rules without notice! She's about 7 years old but you'd never know it by spending time with her! All our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots before adoption!

Story
We brought in Trig as a foster in January 2023. He was with our family for awhile until we found him a good forever home, or so we thought. In December 2023 we got a call that he was surrendered at a nearby shelter. We brought him back into our home and are now hoping to find his perfect match. We have a seven year old German Shepherd who Trig gets along SO well with. We also have 3 young children who unfortunately seem to make him very nervous. He has snapped at them a few times when approached suddenly. We are unsure exactly why because of his otherwise friendly nature, but because of this we think he would do best with a family with older children. He is such a good boy, a huge cuddler, a great walker, loves adults, and all other animals. He is fully potty trained and knows simple commands. Is not crate trained only because we let the dogs roam free in our household. Overall a fantastic dog just needing the right family dynamic!

Story
Foster location: Eagle, Michigan Meet Axel! Axel is a super handsome 1.5 year old Cattle Dog mix that is looking for his forever home. He is a very social boy who loves playing with his foster siblings and running with them in the yard, going for walks and meeting new people and then cuddling up on the couch at night with his foster mom. Axel has been attending doggy daycare and loves it! Axel is house and crate trained and walks good on a leash. He is great about chewing on his toys and bones and not getting into things he shouldn’t. Axel would enjoy an active home with another young dog to play with, he has really bonded with his foster siblings and enjoys running and playing with them. Kids make Axel nervous so he is looking for a home without children. Axel is a very sweet and smart boy and catches onto new things quickly, he is young and ready to learn! In order to set him up for success we would recommend his family enroll him in a positive reinforcement training class upon adoption. Axel’s adoption fee is $300, he is neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, dewormed, and current on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. Please follow the instructions to apply for Axel found in the auto-reply you will receive or email adoptapupanimalrescue@gmail.com for an application. Adopt A Pup is 100% foster-based which means we do not have a centralized facility where you can visit our dogs. The first step towards meeting the dog(s) you are interested is to complete an application. One of our volunteers will contact your references and set up a time between you and the foster to meet and interact with the dog(s) of interest.
