Story
Loki is about 4 years old, I adopted him in 2022 when he was 2 and together we learned house training, eliminated his aggression and resource guarding issues, and learned gentle play along with a handful of verbal and hand commands (sit, stay, up, and back up). He has limitless energy and will chew on things if not given space to run and play. He is leash trained but struggles with distractions, occasionally pulling on the leash but will stop the behavior when corrected. When first adopted, Loki had to be physically touching me at all times or would start barking. While this has significantly improved, he does still get anxious when left home alone and has one habit that I have been unable to break; When greeting people, Loki will try to meet you at your level by grabbing your arm with his paws. This is sadly why I have to rehome him, Loki loves people and other animals, but he is not aware of his own size and would not be a good fit for young kids.

Story
Volunteer notes, 6/26/24:Baxter is high energy and loves to run. He will come when called. Affectionate.Volunteer notes, 5/12/24:Loved chasing then bringing back the tennis ball. Enjoyed a longer walk, curious to sights and sounds, but not pulling. Startled my movement in the woods, but recovered, no pulling to chase anything. Enjoyed being petted, sitting in the grass togetherVolunteer notes, 5/7/24:Today we learned that Baxter loves to chase balls, but his idea of playing fetch is to touch the ball with his nose and run back. He is sweet, friendly, goofy, and hilarious. He loves treats!Volunteer notes, 5/2/24:Baxter is a bouncy, goofy little love bug who is absolutely delightful to play with in the yard. He loves to show off his zoomies and ball fetching skills, and will demonstrate his knowledge of commands in exchange for treats. You cannot watch this dog play without laughing; he is full of infectious joy!

Story
This little dynamo is at least a year old, and she is whirling dervish in the play yard, running zoomies, leaping in the air to catch a ball or toy, and then running some more. Abigail will do best in a very active home where she can get plenty of activity and exercise to keep her busy. She still has puppy in her and needs to learn that it`s not acceptable to jump on people or be mouthy. A little effort and training can correct these puppy behaviors quickly. Abigail wants so much to be part of a loving home where she can learn how to be the 100% best girl ever! She simply needs someone who will give her that chance. Is it YOU??Dog Day Out notes, 7/20/24:Abigail went on a hike at Cane Creek. Abigail is adorable, full of puppy energy. She`s still learning to sit patiently in a car, and a car seatbelt was really helpful. Once we got to Cane Creek, she was so excited to meet new people and loves to play. She loves to love on people, so it was difficult to get pictures of her--as soon as you pause with the camera, she wants to join you for cuddles. She pulled a lot on the leash when we were going to the car, but was a great hiking partner and didn`t pull much while we were walking. We took a few breaks to roll around in the leaves and practice our commands, `sit,` which she consistently does for treats, and `down,` which she was a little less consistent with. She`s a smart and playful companion and learns fast.Dog Day Out notes, 6/21/24:We walked the longest portion of the Cates Farm Trail in Mebane, got a Pup Cup from Starbucks, and hung out in the AC at home. She walks well on leash and is high energy. Abigail did great walking on the trail and loved playing in the stream. She was a little reactive to see another dog on the trail but I just held the leash tight and close to her and she was fine. When playing with toys, she wants to chew/ nibble other things and can be hard to redirect; I had to take her outside to calm her down. She will sit if you say “Down” and do the hand motion for down.Volunteer notes, 5/29/24:Abigail is a nice, friendly, energetic girl who is working on her leash manners. She knows “sit” and understands that it’s required for her to get a treat (which she loves!). She does well with consistent, positive reinforcement—she needs a patient human who will match her puppy stubbornness with equal determination and plenty of rewards! She is an extremely pretty girl with lovely muted spots and arresting eyes.

Story
Introducing Maggie, a beautiful terrier mix looking for her forever home. Although she is estimated to be only slightly over a year old this sweet girl is full of joy. She loves to play, get lots of attention and is always happy. She does have quite a bit of energy so an active family and/ or a fenced in yard is preferred. She does well with other dogs, particularly energetic ones looking for a playmate, but needs to be in a home without cats as they can be a little too tempting to harass. She is currently strong on leash but our foster is working on her training, the world has so much to offer she gets super excited. She is housebroken and crate trained and ready for a loving family to call her own! If a shorter stature bundle of fun is what you are looking for in a dog, look no further!
